Unplugging an a/c compressor shouldn't effect the heating and cooling system what so ever the only tie it has to that system is the comperessor makes the fan come on when you engage the a/c switch

The dealership said the book lists it as a 5 hour labor job. Apparently they have to remove motor mount bolts and transmission bolts, literally lift the engine away from the framing in order to replace the oil pan and gasket. What a freakin nightmare! They estimated $2,000 at the dealership to do this repair.

their is a special socket made for o2 sensor removal and installation. their is a slit down one side so that the wire can come out. purchase that socket, raise vehicle safely, climb under, spray with penetrating catalyst, may need to heat up a little bit, unscrew old one, replace with new one, plug in, start the car.

To decide if your belt needs replacing, simply look at the grooved side of the belt to see if it is cracking badly. A couple of cracks every 3 inches is normal, but if you see cracks every 1-2 inches I would recommend that you replace it. On most cars and trucks the procedure is basically the same. First off, get the correct belt by bringing your cars VIN number to the parts store(located on your cars dashboard) the parts store may need it. If there are two choices, get them both so you can complete the repair. Once you have the correct belt, take a minute to review how the belt runs across the pulleys and also check to see if your car/ truck has a underhood diagram of belt routing in case you need it. In most cases you will need a socket wrench or breaker bar with either a 3/8" and /or 1/2" head on it and possibly a short extension. Some models may require a wrench of these similar sizes.Now that you are ready to go to work, you will need to find the spring loaded tensioner which is generally located near the top of the belt path; it usually has a shinny pulley on it. Look at the tensioner and insert the tool into it and apply opposing pressure to release the belt.Now, simply install the new belt making sure it fits into the grooves on all the pulleys. Start the car to check it and you are done and you saved yourelf some money!

2000+ Cadillacs don't use vacuum to control mode doors any more, they are electronic. Commonly, on these Devilles, the gears in the blend door motor get stripped & the unit has be replaced. Normally, these entails tearing out the whole dash to replace this unit (to the left of the radio behind the dash), because you have to "time" some levers that go to that door motor. With some practice, you can take out the climate control unit & the radio & install this unit, but you have to have plenty of patience!! Because customers are picky about dashes & the dash board corners are almost always coming unglued & folded, I prefer installing the unit without removing the dash.

The hear fan motor in Cadillacs after 1993 are controlled by a speed controller. This is an electronic device that changes the speed of the motor based on a series of electronic pulses sent to the motor by a computer. The speed controller is a round circuit card located in the fan motor itself. One of the components, probably a 15 cent capacitor, has probably fried itself and the speed controller no longer works. If you are knowledgeable in electronics, you can probably repair this yourself. Otherwise its off to GM or a junkyard for a replacement.

If your looking at the engine with the hood and from the front, the relay\s are on the back left. Its a little gray box thats clipped to the back top wall. How many does yours have? I only have one but all the manuals ive read show two relays ( the gray boxs) attatched side by side.
