It varies from c (ar to car...some cars will silence the auto alarm when a key is used to open the door, or to start the engine.

But as far as I can remember with my 95 SAAB 900SE Convertible...the alarm would be turned on when you used the remote fob to auto-lock the doors, and would disarm itself when you used the remote fob to auto-unlock the doors.

If you locked the car with the fob, and then unlocked it with the key instead of the remote, the alarm would NOT be disarmed, and would go off! (That is, would literally "sound the alarm".) The only way I ever found to turn it off was to use the key fob again. I do NOT know what you would do if you locked it with the fob and then the fob was lost or broke or had its battery die.

I had purchased the car used...the previous owner had told me there was no other way to turn off the alarm other than using the fob...but I never investigated it any deeper.

It's not possible to "lubricate" a car alarm, unless you want it to short out and then end up with no alarm at all. The "sqwak" could be a short it in the wiring, take it to a iauto shop or your dealership and tell them exactly what's wrong. I'm not familiar with electrical systems, sadly.

You will need to get a wiring diagram of the alarm system.There is no way to tell what wires were cut or changed when the car was hot wired.

Most likely to reprogram the remote you need to take it to a Chevy Dealer and they can do it there... cost ranging from $40-$90...... I had the same problem after replacing the battery & the remote still not working.... I reset the remote by holding down both the lock & unlock buttons @ the same time for about 10-15 seconds.... this resets the locks inside the truck... you should hear the locks lock & unlock if so then your remote should work fine... if not then i suggest taking it to a dealer... hope this helps!

It's probably not the alarm that's causing your problem. If you can get a volt meter, start the engine and connect the volt meter across the battery. When running, the battery voltage should be somewhere in the range of 13.5 to 14 V. Much less and you'll have trouble keeping the battery charged. Much more and you run the risk of destroying the battery and other electrical components. Alternators can drain the battery if one of the internal diodes fail. Also, a battery can be going bad if it's having trouble maintaining a charge. Guessing is never a good idea, since it ends up causing you to spend a lot more money replacing parts and you just end up "HOPING" that the problem is solved. If you test parts, you know when you've found one that fails. Take your vehicle to an auto parts retailer and see if they have an electrical system diagnostic machine. They can usually tell you exactly what's wrong and what to do to solve the problem. Yes, they want to sell you parts, but they also want your vehicle to run right when you're done so that you'll be pleased with your experience. If you can find one of their technicians that actually knows what he's talking about, you can end up figuring out exactly what's wrong. Try Auto Zone, Checker, Schuks, Kragen or whatever other auto parts retailer company that is local to you. don't disable the factory alarm system,it is not likely it's the alarm...when batteries go dead, and you jump the car to start it, the alarm will sound. check the charging system, and have the battery tested at a parts store(free at major chain parts stores) if you feel you must disconnect the alarm, be sure to remove all valuables from the vehicle when parked...that was a lame joke...but it felt good to type it... also, everyone should have a manual for their vehicle, and the library should have a professional manual available...in the reference section, you'll have to make copies of the important sections...good luck :)

Click on support, and look for the "installation manual". of the same model. If you don't know the model number, get the one for APS 25ch. Most Prestige alarms have the same color wires throughout different lines of alarms.

Idk about a UL 1132 A126, but on my UL 1138, all you have to do is the following:

1. Make sure you're on the regular time mode.

2. Hold down the reset button.

3. While holding the reset button down, press the start/stop button once. You should hear a beep, indicating the alarm has switched from on to off. Also, the small alarm icon under the digits should have disappeared.

Does it happen only while the car is "off" or does it also happen while driving? If the alarm happens without any apparent reason, even while driving, you may want to check the anti-theft relay. If alarm happens while the car is off, it could be a problem with any of the various switches and sensors that sense alarm conditions.

When a car alarm goes off, it is a warning that an unwanted person is entering your vehicle, or basically you are accidentally pressing the "activate car alarm" on your portable lock unlock car system. if these are not one of the answers, the main wire that connects the alarm to the outside parts of the car has something wrong with it. since im not all good with cars, you could probably get it checked out at a local car maitanance place.
