How speakers work?

  1. Power Source
  2. Speakers do not have a dedicated power source of their own. They draw their power from whatever it is that they are connected to - be it a CD player or more complex stereo receiver. Any one of these pieces of equipment should be able to provide enough power for the speakers to be able to be used to their full potential. If they don't work well together on their own, an amplifier can be purchased and connected to the system to make up any power that may be needed. Sound Information
  3. Without a way to process sound information, speakers would have no function. This is why speakers are always either built into or connected to something else like a compact disc player or a stereo system. These pieces of equipment process and convert any sound information they receive (from things like the radio, CDs, DVDs) into an electrical signal. This signal is what is sent either via a wireless connection or through dedicated wires to any speakers attached to the system. Playing Sound
  4. The electrical signal is then used and outputted by the speakers. What we know as "music" and "audio" is very simply the speakers playing a frequency of noise that is constantly changing. Our brains can process this information for what it is (voices, music), but it really is nothing more than noise. Settings like overall volume, base (lower frequency information) and treble (higher frequency information) can be adjusted on whatever device is sending the sound information to the speakers.

What is a simple gear with idler?

An "idler" is typically used for tensioning of a belt, as in the timing belt, or a chain.

Have a 92 Honda accord unable to get anything from the air heat defrost etc but all lights in the area work but nothing you took it in and the techs are at a lost and have no idea of the trouble?

If the techs can't find the problem when they have the car in their shop, why do you think someone at a computer in Timbuktoo or Kalimazoo can diagnose it? The most likely causes would be a blown fuse, a defective blower switch, blower motor or broken wire. But the techs should have found anything that obvious.

Why is the left turn signal blinking fast on your 2005 Dodge Neon after replacing both front and rear bulbs?

Double check the bulbs you replaced, you may have installed one incorrectly or one of the bulbs is faulty. See sources and related links below for bulb information.

I have seen that the turn signal flasher can cause this to occur. One side flashes faster than the other side even though all bulbs are working. The remedy is to replace the flasher unit.

How do you replace cruise control control switch on the steering wheel?

Most Ford vehicles require you to remove the Air Bag module first, remove the steering wheel next in order to access the retaining screws on the back side of the the steering wheel.

Most importantly if you intend to do this procedure, you must disconnect the battery first and then put the ignition key in the ignition and turn it on in order to discharge the electricity still left in the system.

If an amp runs 1000 w rms at 1ohm how do you wire a dual 4 ohm speaker to run at 1 ohm?

the impedance of a speaker is a characteristic that is has. A 4 ohm speaker will always have a 4 ohm impedance and it cannot be changed.

If 2 speakers of 4 ohm impedance are wired in parallel, then the total impedance will be 2 ohms. Similarly, if you wire 4 speakers together, the total impedance will be 1 ohm.

Wiring a 2 ohm speaker to an amplifier rated to drive a 1 ohm load should work without any problems but expect the total power output to be somewhat lower than with a 1 ohm load.

Dome light stays on 2001 slk320?

When the dome light stays on in an slk320 one of several things could be causing it. A door switch could be bad, the manual light switch could be stuck, or the light relay could be stuck. Any of these could cause the problem.

How do you test alternator charge with a digital multimeter?

Check the gauges, if the car is equipped with them. If you have a volt/amp gauge, it will read the alternator output for you. Turn on the blower fan for the AC or Heater, the headlamps, and any other accessories that put a strain on the alternator, and watch the gauge to see if it decreases voltage or amperage. As a rule, if the voltmeter is higher when the engine is running then when the engine is not, you can confidently assume that the alternator is charging. Check it at the battery with the engine running. It will show at least 13.5 volts if the alternator is good. If these values decrease when you turn on electrical accessories, the alternator may be weak. Listen to the alternator while the engine is running. If there is a problem with the bearings you may hear a squealing sound coming from the front of the car, which becomes louder with more electrical accessories using power at the same time. Feel the alternator after the engine has run a few minutes and you turn the engine off. If it is very hot, you may have wear to the bearings or the insulation on the copper windings may be breaking down, an indication the part may fail soon.

To actually measure the charging current on a cheap modern digital volt meter: Set meter to most accurate voltage range, with the engine off measure the voltage between chassis and chassis connection at the battery, this should be nearly 0 volts, now turn the headlights on, the headflights will draw about 10 Amps and the volts drop across battery earth to chassis will show about 50 millivolts dependent on the resistance of the earth strap. Remember 50mV is proportional to 10 Amps. Turn the headlights off and start the engine, the meter will show the charging current and this will be in the opposite polarity as the current will flow in the opposite (charging) direction. for example if the meter shows 100mV the alternator will be charging at 20A. turn the headlights on and you will see the charging current to the battery reduce as half the alternator current goes into the lights.

Why would the battery light come on and off while shifting through gears?

I'm not familiar with your vehicle, but have to assume that "shifting through gears" means you have a manual transmission. If that is the case, then I suspect that the "battery light" coming on occurs WHILE the engine has dropped back to IDLE. The charge indicator light is designed to alert the driver that more electricity is being drawn from the battery than the charging system is able to put into the battery. The electrical output of the alternator is proportional [at lower rpm] to the speed that the alternator is turning. The condition you describe suggests a couple of possible causes: 1. That the IDLE SPEED of your engine is set TOO LOW [USUALLY, and PROBABLY, the most likely cause] or 2. For some reason the output from the alternator is weak [very unlikely]. I suggest that you have your vehicle's charging system checked out by a QUALIFIED mechanic or autmotive electrical technician. The correction may require no more than an ADJUSTMENT of the IDLE SPEED. j3h. Becuse the RPMs of the engine go down and the alternater is not producing as much as the engin is using. Replace the alternater befoe it kills you battery...

Can you hook up 4 speakers to a 2 channel amp?

take the positive from speaker A and twist the copper wire together with the positive wire from speaker B. then take those two (positive) wires from A and B and put it in Channel 1 positive terminal. then take the negative from speaker A and twist the copper wire together with the negative wire from speaker B. take those two (negative) wires and put them in the negative terminal under channel 1. then do the same for your other 2 speakers, except in channel 2

What is scenario manager in Excel?

To model problems that are more complicated than data tables can handle, involving as many as 32 variables, you can use the services of the Scenario Manager in Microsoft Office Excel 2003. A scenario is a named combination of values that is assigned to one or more variable cells in a what-if model. You can use the Scenario Manager to enter variable figures in your what-if model and watch the effect on dependent computed values.

Here are some of the things you can do with the Scenario Manager in Excel:

  • Create multiple scenarios for a single what-if model, each with its own sets of variables. You can create as many scenarios as your model necessitates.
  • Distribute a what-if model to members of your team so that they can add their own scenarios. Then you can collect the versions and merge all the scenarios onto a single worksheet.
  • Using Scenario Summary, examine relationships between scenarios created by multiple users.

How do you program a key-less entry?

to 2003 subaru outback onlyWell i have been researching this as I have a Subaru Liberty 2004(AUST)(legacy elsewhere)as I want to change the setting so that it opens the drivers door only and requires a second push to open all. Saves wear and tear)Subaru can do it for me but I am sure it is simple. i have this articale below which was written on another site for an older model Subaru. Plus i can also get the amount of time the light stays on when pressing unlock as well. I am certain it is a combination of key presses. But which ones?

. Locking. Larger, orange button. Push the lock button. This locks all the doors and will set the alarm (if equipped and in 'setable' mode)

2. Unlocking. Smaller, blue button Driver's door only: Push the unlock button once to unlock the driver's door and also disarm alarm if set. All doors: Push the small button *firmly* a second time within a few seconds to unlock all the doors.

3. Chirp horn? The chirp is once for lock, two times for unlock, multiple times if a door is ajar when you try to lock them. This is optional. To turn the audible on or off unlock all the doors and hold *both* buttons down until the horn honks. The horn will always chirp repeatedly if a door is not fully closed when you lock with the remote.

5. Alarm. Valet mode or alarm off: alarm light (red dot center dashboard dispay) rapidly flashing 3 times/pause means the alarm is in "Valet" mode and is not setable. This light will stop flashing when you start the car.

Arming the alarm: to re-enable an alarm in valet mode, Unlock all the doors and hold the small button down on the remote until the light stops flashing. Now when you lock the doors the alarm will be set and the light will slowly flash on and off, on and off.

6. Alarm goes off? Push the small button on the remote or if you don't have the remote put the key in the ignition and turn it on and off three times.

7. Program remotes: works on all with Alpine system. unlock all doors. Cycle key quickly but carefully on-off app 10 times until the car honks one time. Do not turn the key far enough to start the car. Just to the 'on' position so the dash light up. When the car honks, open and close the driver's door, press a remote button and that's it. Program another remote? Open and close the door again and push the 2nd remote button. When you're done, remove the key and the horn should honk 3 times. You're all set. Sometime it takes me more than 10 on-offs to make the horn honk, sometimes you need to start-turn off the car, lock-unlock the doors a few times, wait a while etc. But is does work.
