How do you get the gas out of the tank before dropping?
I would wait until you had less than half a tank let in the car. Then jack the car up and properly support it on some jack stands. I would use the rear cross member near the gas tank to do this. Places the stands as far out as possible to aviod beening able to rock the car too much. Then locate the rubber fuel line entering the gas tank. It will probably be a 2" pipe. Remove the hose clamp using either a 5/32" or a screw driver. Revove more gas using a hose into an approved container. If you are going to take the tank off I would suggest puting the jack under the gas tank. Put just enough pressure tso you know it is on the gas tank. Then loosen the bolts on the gas tank restaning straps. When the bolts are out, and mind you that your car is an 89 and this has never been done so the bolts may come off hard. Remove the straps and lower the jack slowly to aviod dropping the gas tank.

How do you change a valve cover gasket on a 1989 beretta GT?
First locate the valve cover. If the motor is a 4 cylinder there will only be one valve cover. If it is a 'v6' it will have two as well as v8 automobiles. With a Socket wrench and extention locate the valve cover bolts that go around the cover bolting it to the top of the engine (cylinder head.) Usually the valve cover will have the 'Oil Filler' cap on it. (Where you add oil to the engine...) With the correct size socket remove the bolts that hold down the valve cover. Lift the valve cover up and away from the cylinder head. You may need to strike it with a soft mallet to get it to release. Once it's off you will see the rockers/springs. Be careful to keep the old gasket debrey from entering the rocker valley. With a razer scrap all remaining gasket from the cylinder head. Some gaskets have an "UP" side so make sure you look over your gasket for any indicators. Then apply your new gasket. Then put your valve cover back on carefully so your new gasket does not move. Slide the bolts back into place and tighten from the middle out. Tighten the bolts until they just about snug then move to the next opposing bolt. So Center, Bottom Center, Left, Bottom Left, Right, Bottom Right etc. Once they are all snug go back and turn the wrench another half turn to tighten them up. *Do Not Over Tighten The Bolts.* or damnage to the gasket or bolt breakage may occur. If oil leaks from the cover check for loose bolts or gasket breakage.
Edit by Loosenut: Torque spec is 12lbs. for the valve cover bolts.
How do you change the coil on a 1994 Chevy Beretta?
the best way to do this is get a jack and a pair of ratchit tie down straps and put the jack underneath the oil pan and prop it up just a little bit. Now take off the motor mount by your coolant storage tank and take your tie down straps and connect the one behind the power steering fluid resovoir. You will see a hole for a cherry picker. Now take the other end of the strap and put it somewhere safe on the top of the frame by the radiator. Now with your motor mount off and your ratchit ties pulling the motor foward. Jack the motor up just a little more. With a flashlight reach back behind the motor with it cooled down and you will see the coils. You will need a 5.5mm socket to get out 4 bolts. But only take out the bolts that are holding down the junk coil. Finally put your new coil on carefully and reverse your process leading to where your at now and your done.

Where is the vehicle speed sensor located on a 93 Chevy lumina euro coupe 3.1 liter?
I belive it is somewhere on the transmission, *I just replaced the speed sensor on my 93 Chevy Lumina Euro so look on the passenger side right below the alternator on the transmission. One bolt to unfasten, then lift out. Solved our problem of erratic movement of speedometer needle and changes in speed of cruise control, also slowness in accelerating after stopping.

Why might a 1996 Chevrolet Beretta overheat?
Various possibilities including thermostat, low coolant, weak coolant, cylinder head gasket, cylinder head. mine overheated, I needed a new headgasket. FOund out it was because I didn't have any coolant in it. The warning signs are your engine sign will start to turn over to overheating. You should also check to make sure your fan is working. Don't forget the leaking heater core. It will drain the fluid out the firewall as you drive and the next thing you know, you are out of fluid and overheating and can't find a leak! The plastic core connectors to the heater hoses commonly crack and leak. The replacement cores have aluminum connectors! Darn cheap plastic!!
