What needs to be done when check engine light comes on in your 1990 Oldsmobile 88 Royale?
Take it to a mechanic who will use a computer to read a problem code generated by the car's computer. He will repair the problem and reset the light.
Plain English problem codes are not used to encourage car owners to take their cars to the dealership for repair. However, any competent mechanic will have the handheld computer required to read the codes.
AnswerPull the codes from the computer, match the code to the troubleshooting procedure, follow the procedure to find the source. Repair the source, light will go out if that was the only problem. There are "monitors" or self tests the computer runs the car through a drive cycle, if a problem occurs, it may not run all of the self tests until that problem is taken care. Therefore, another problem may exist. It is emission related. OR hook up a scanner that is capable of clearing codes, and hope that none are still active.Having a problem with switching a 1998 Chevy Blazer from 4 wheel low back to 2 wheel high drive?
You need to come to a compleat stop, then back up 3-5 Feet stop then pull shifter
back into 2 high. LEAVE TRANSMISSION IN DRIVE.
How do you get in 99 blazer keys locked in?
We can't publish an answer to this, as this is something which could facilitate illegal acts, even though I don't doubt you have no such intent. As a mechanic and a Blazer owner, I can help you with this, but you'll have to email me at the address listed on my bio page.
How do you change an idler arm on a 1998 Chevy blazer?
Remove the nut holding the idler arm to the center link. Separate the joint with a "pickle fork". Remove the two bolts and nuts from the frame end of the idler arm. Remove idler arm.
Sounds like you may have a vacuum leak- check under the hood and under dash area
How do you replace the alternator on a 2000 Chevy Blazer?
There is a pulley directly underneath your alternator that has a nut on the back of it. You'll need a wrench to put on it and push down to get slack on the belt. After removing the belt there are three bolts (two in the front and one on the back) that need to be removed. Then disconnect the wire harness and you may need something to pry the alternator out of the bracket and that's it.
How do you know if spider injection is bad on a 95 s10 blazer?
I just paid $111.00 to the local Chevy dealer for a diagnostic, the reason I went to them was because I would get a check engine light for a few days then it would go away. I also am having the hardest time starting it in the morning if it sits off for a day or so.. I would open and close the ignition about 5 times before attempting to crank it, and that would normally start it. They estimated almost $1200.00 to replace the spider injectors and the appropriate seals to put it all back together..
How do you get transmission out of 98 blazer?
You'll have to disconnect all cables and wires from the transmission and transfer case (if applicable). You'll need a transmission jack. First, you disconnect and remove the driveshafts. How you proceed from there is up to you. You can remove the bell housing, transmission, and transfer case (if applicable) as a single unit if you have an adequate transmission jack to do it. Or, you can remove the transfer case, then the transmission, then the bell housing. However, then you replace the transmission, you'll want the bell housing to already be mounted to the transmission.
1998 Chevy Blazer will not start after it rains?
Need to check coil wire, Remove it and check both ends they should be shiney and clean. Also look down into the coil were the wire goes and make sure it's clean and shinney there also.
If all that is okay then replace the distributor cap and rotor with factory GM Parts from dealer.
Why would the engine while accelerating bog down and loose power then regain all the power at once?
If your car is fuel injected, the electronic throttle position sensor on the throttle body could be bad. The check engine light doesn't always come on, in this situation.
AnswerWell it kind of depends on how new the car is. If it's a newer one or your lights start to go dim as one person put it, it is quite simply the governor. Fairly cheap and easy to have that problem fixed. If it's an older vehicle read some of the answers below, they're pretty accurate, although one other thing it could be is a blocked catalytic converter.
AnswerI had the same problem with my van, after many misdiagnosed repairs it turned out to be that the 02 censor was not working properly, have that checked.
AnswerI surprised myself and resolved this problem on mine: Too much dirt, etc built up in in line fuel filter. As I accelerated larger demand for fuel caused blockage and starved off motor.
Check the little things first!
AnswerI have the same problem but not the answer.
But I have just realized that when it happens the driving lights go dim.
Bog When AcceleratingI had this same problem with my 1988 Chevy S10 Blazer 4.3L This could be a problem with your EGR circuit. This circuit stand for exhaust gas recirculation and is responsible for moving a little exhaust gas back into the engine for combustion. If your vehicle is newer than 1973 it is required to have this device in it because it reduces NO2 emissions. Replace the EGR valve and solenoid (valve first because it is more likely to be the issue). They are both fairly inexpensive parts (mine was about $110 for both) and they are easy to replace. You don't even need a mechanic for this fix. If you try this and it doesn't work, put your old parts back on, return the new ones and try replacing the throttle position sensor if you have a fuel injected model. Hope this helps. That all depends if its a carbureted model or a fuel injected model. Carbureted model has an easy answer. You have a dead spot in the carb. you can do 1 of 2 things. Rebuild your old carb or buy a new one. Generally the float is just sticking. With fuel injected cars when you have a problem like that the check engine light should come on.
If it has a distributor, check to see that the weights under the rotor are free moving. If they stick, then the timing will be slow to advance and the engine will bog for a second or two.
MY WAGON WILL BEAT A LS1
JMHO:
Any of the above could be true. It also could be carbon build up in the intake lines, valves, & carb (if there is one.) If this is the case, a fuel intake cleaner will clear it out and a new fuel filter will also help. Carbon does the same thing to those components as cholesterol does in your arteries.
Good luck!
Just had this problem with a 350z. The car was cutting off at 5k rpms, then gradually got worst and started cutting off at 2500 rpms. Turned out it was a bad MAF sensor. I replaced mine at a very costly price! I would suggest (If applicable), clean your MAF sensor. You can buy the cleaner at autozone. Doesnt hurt to try!
What would cause your 'check gauges' light to comes on in a 1999 Chevy Blazer?
It is telling you that one of the gauges is not within normal range. It could be you are not charging or overheating or have little or no oil pressure.
A compression check is done to verify your piston rings have not failed causing blow by, can lead to, among other things, burning oil (bad cases cause bluish smoke to come out of the tailpipe). It is done by attaching a pressure gauge to your engine through the spark plug hole.
What could cause a knocking noise from under the drivers side floor board on a Chevy Blazer?
Loose Lug nuts bad control arm...
Try checking the battery cables and battery clamps to make sure you are getting a good connection to the starter. Do a voltage drop test to check the cables. You can find instructions for a drop test online.
Are doors interchangeable from a 1994 s-10 pick up and a s-10 blazer?
1994 S-10 blazer. In 1994 Chevy introduced a new body style for the S-10. But only for the pick up. Starting in 1995, the Blazer and the pickup are the same. Prior to the 94 model change over, the blazer and the pickup are the same. As for the 94 Blazer, the doors will fit from the creation of the s-10 to 1994. As for the pick up, the first s-10 door will fit the the pick up until 1993. This is your answer.
