I don't know if this will help, but I had to reset the anti-theft on my 2001 Jimmy today and this was the procedure: Try to start the engine, it will fire and die. Leave the key in the on position. Wait 10 minutes. The "Security" light will stay on during the 10 minute interval then turn off. Turn the key to the "off" position for 5 seconds. Repeat 3 times. (Yes. It takes 30 minutes and 15 seconds to reset the antitheft in a Jimmy.) 70.64.66.88 hit the nail on the head! I just replaced the ignition lock cylinder on my 1997 Grand Am SE and got the ANTI THEFT light. Following the above advice it only took one time before the system reset itself. Turned over engine, it died, left key in on position, anti theft light blinked for 10 minutes then went solid, turned key to off position, counted to 7 mississippi, restarted engine, it fired and ran and anti theft light gone.

The z24 model came with a 2.4L DOHC engine and uses a Air/Oil separator(no maintenance required)and does not have a PCV. The 2.2L OHV engine comes in the base model Cavalier and its on the top center of the valve cover at the back of the motor. There is a 1/2' black rubber hose going from the pcv under the plenum. It just pulls out. no tools required to replace it.

you may have a short check to see if you can find any bare wires in the system hope this helps The '03 model had a recall on the socket assembly,due to bad contact. The blinker would go double time like it was a burnt bulb but OHMing would vrify that the lamp was good. We took ours to the Dealer for the "FIX" and after two days without the car it came back worse. I found that by gently bowing out the contact wires on the lamp with my pocket knife I no longer had any problems. Also remember to never let the lamp come in contact with your skin as the natural oil on yer grubby little paws will shorten the lamps life.

I'm not sure if it is the same as "Check Engine" but.......Check engine light is a warning that something with your emission control system is malfunctioning. To keep driving with the light on could reduce your gas mileage or damage /plug your cat converter. Converters are about $100 not counting the labor. I would suggest getting it checked out. AnswerPut more than 65 cents worth of gas in it fool....Most of the time when you check gauges light comes on it means you are almost out of gas. You can probably go about 37 more miles. But Chevy also is know to have loose wires in the back of you gauge pod. So if you have gas and know you have gas then you probally have a short in your gauge wire cluster that plugs in the back of your speedo.
The light should go off when the fuel guage reaches 1/4 tank of gas.

On Chevy Cavaliers from about 90-2000 they use a check gages light instead of a low fuel light. Just means you need to put in over a 1/4 tank of gas for it to go off.
