Why are there two different size wiper blades on 2001 Chevy cavalier?

The 2001 Chevy Cavalier uses two different size wiper blades to ensure optimal coverage and efficiency. The driver's side typically has a longer blade to sweep a larger area, while the passenger side uses a shorter blade to avoid obstruction and maintain visibility. This design allows for better performance and ensures that the driver's line of sight is maximized during inclement weather.

Why won't your Cavalier start It's making a clicking noise almost like a turn signal and it won't turn on What could it be?

That would be your starter. Get a used one at a wrecking yard if the new is too expensive. They are plentiful for Cavaliers and used works just as good as new. Wrecking yard. Before you go and buy a new starter/used starter and change it... check the battery for a good charge... If the battery is low it could cause the starter solenoid to hop. This hopping would also sound like a turn signal. If the battery charge is good then I would agree it is a starter solenoid.

How do you remove the starter on a 1986 4 cylinder Chevy Cavalier?

It's kindof tricky i just put a new starter in my 1986 2.0 cavalier rs your going to want some wheel ramps it's hard to work where the starter is located without them anyway in the very front bottom of the motor is the starter mine was in a tight spot the exaust pipe went around mine you will have some wires running from the seloniod and battery make sure that you don't get them mixed up there are two main bolts 15 mm i think and another going into a bracket at the other end disconnect the wiring pull the two main bolts and the bracket it's going to be a pain working around the exaust pipe I think there is a couple other wires you will have to disconnect to one is the ground wire that bolts onto the motor if your car don't start after installing the new starter clean up the connecter with some sand paper after pulling the starter out check the teeth on the new starter there supposed to line up a certain way or it will defenetly decrease the life of your new starter theres usually directions with a new starter if your putting in a usedone the best thing i can say is the starter teeth should have two teeth around the one tooth on the gear of the engine another thing to is you will probibly haveto put shims in with the starter your installing they come with a new starterif the starter your putting in is used keep the old shim from your old starterthe shim fits between the starter and engine where the two main bolts go in.

good luck i installed mine without any wheel ramps there was hardly any clearenceif you want head room get some ramps

Not difficult take of wheel on sie of car yon need to change the ball joint Put on secure stand (not a jack) undo stabliser bar bolt to lower control arm and remember the way all the bushes came off for re assembly. Bend and pull out the pin at the top of the castle nut at the top of ball joint Two horizontal and one vertical bolt hold the control arm in place Remove these Lever out the control arm after these and the ball joint has been separated from the cintol arm (you remone the castle nut first and use a fork to open the joint The control arm comes away with a bit of twisting and pulling. With contol arm out drill out the three rivets carefully with small drill bits so not to drill into the control arm itself. wnen rivets are out clean up the three holes until they allow the three bolts supplied with new ball joint to fit . Make sure securing pin at top of castle nut is in place Some strength and a bright light help considerably.

What would make the horn of a 1998 Chevy Cavalier not work?

Well your not going to believe this but... one problem I have run into in my years of servicing Cavaliers. is a Bad ground where the horn mounts to the car. I have in the past have had to run a ground wire from the mounting point and drill a hole for another screw and ground the wire. Sounds crazy I know but have done this a couple of times and the horn then worked!

How do you install brake pads on a 2002 Chevy Cavalier?

This is a fairly simple task that anyone can do as long as they have the right tools. First, jack up the car and take off the wheel. If you are working on the left side first, make sure to turn the wheel all the way to the left it make reaching the bolts easier and you can get more torque on them. Also, pop the hood and take the cap off of the brake fluid tank in order to relieve some pressure. After you have the wheel off and the wheel turned you will see the rotor and the caliper housing. (The rotor is the circle) the housing the other. You have to separate the two. In order to do this you will need a 3/8" hex wrench. There are 2 internal hex blots one at the top of the housing and one at the bottom on the backside of the housing. Place the hex in there and lossen the bolts. It's really nice to have an air tool to take the lugs off the wheels and also to take these bolts off. If they are stubborn use a little heat you may also try some spray lubricant but if you do make sure to wipe everything down really well to remove it when you are done. If you leave it on it will be really bad for your brakes and it will make them not as effective. Towards the end the bolts may appear to just spin so use a pair of pliers to turn the bolts and pull you should be able to see the bolt clear back in the housing. Once clear pull the housing off and you will have access to the brake pads. While you're doing this, don't leave the assembly hanging by the hose -- support it either on a block or hang it on the hub assembly. Take the old pads out using a flat head screwdriver and then squeeze the piston (the round thing that one pad was mounted on). I use one of those padded inside/outside clamps but you can also use a large C-clamp and a piece of wood to bottom the piston out and place the new pads in. I would recommend a little anti-squeak on the back of the pads. After the pads are in place put the housing back on like how it looked before you took it off and tighten the internal hex bolts and put the wheel back on and you should be good to go to the other side and do the same thing.

You'll notice that the brake fluid level rises when you do this. If you added brake fluid when it was getting low, it might now be spilling over. Next time the brake fluid is getting low, check or replace the brake pads before 'topping off' the brake fluid reservoir.

Please don't forget to torque bolts when reassembling. Brake Caliper bolts to 38 ft/lb & Lug Nuts to 75 ft/lb. These ratings were found from other online sources; if you have more accurate info please update this.

How do I replace the front fender liner of a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier?

Remove the wheel for better access, of course. You'll need a 7mm socket to remove the small bolts. The difficult part is removing the black plastic "clips" that have the round head that is flat. They push into a hole in the body or bracket but because of the multiple barbs of plastic on the clip's shaft, they are difficult to remove without damaging them. Use a flat screwdriver head to get underneath the head and then grab the head with a good pair of pliers and pull like hell. Some will break off but the ones that you do manage to pull out can be straightened out and reused if necessary. You can buy new clips at many auto supply stores. They are a universal fit so get the same length and diameter. Expect to pay about $1 to $1.50 each. I found the exact item at my friendly ACE hardware store in the specialty nuts, bolts, and fasteners department for 90 cents each.
