i would recommend no less than 87 octane but it all depends on compression ratio ie. upto 9.5:1 ratio u can get away with as low as 87 but recommended is 91 or higher. i run 11:1 compression with an msd 6AL and 235 pro lightning race heads on a street driven 550+ hp 400 sbc and i use autolite 24,25 or 26 plugs depending on time of year {colder in the summer & hotter for the winter) and i set gap for all at .047" . i use 91 or higher octane fuel only and timing is set at 38 degrees total timing under load. or around 12-13 static timing at idle no vacuum at dist.

There are numerous reasons that can cause the instrument panel to stop working. In my case, I found a pin on one of the printed circuit boards that had never been soldered. This pin supplied 12 DC power from one board to the other and was black from arcing over the years. This was an intermittent problem that would cause the entire panel to come and go. I soldered the pin and the instrument cluster has been working flawlessly ever since. Bad grounds are often the cause for electrical problems in Corvettes.

I'm having issues with mine as well. One day me locks started to cycle erratically and my hatch popped open. Now there is no response whatsoever and it will not even enter the programming mode. My research has concluded that the PKE computer has gone bad. It is located under the top dash pad. Now I have to buy it for $250 and figure out how to remove the pad. Hope this is of some help.

How do you remove the heater core in a 1977 Corvette?
Started this today. Remove instrument cluster in center console (gauges/radio), just pull it 3-4 inches. Locate 5 screws on passenger dash, 2 are on windshield post, and remove panel. This where I am now. It appears you have to remove the heat/defroster manifold located behind the gauges and to do that it seems the drivers dash panel must also come out.. There are several bolt/nuts on the large blower unit. I believe once you do that, the heater core should be accessable (sp?). Don't forget theres also supposedly 4 bolts/nuts on the firewall under the hood. I found 1 so far but haven't jacked up the car and looked from the bottom, which knowing good old corvettes are where they're probably at. Anyhow, 1st day of college football and quit till next week. Open the trunk, remove the plastic buttons that hold the carpeting in place on the passenger side, unscrew the trim ring that is around the mast on the outside of the car, there are 2 bolts inside the trunk that you have to remove and an electrical plug to remove, then unplug the antenna cable and the whole assembly can be replaced
