My 91 Chevy lumina z34 starts sometimes but not always why?
I had this problem when it rained. It would help if you gave more info. Check ur ignition cables/spark plugs. keep 'em clean and dry of moisture.
Have vehicle scanned to determine the problem
Is the radiator on a 1995 Chevy Lumina and a 1997 Lumina the same?
depends on the engine size and the transmission type.
How do you change the sparkplugs on a 1996 Chevy Lumina?
Look between the back of the engine and firewall The space is tight but you should be able to find rubber caps that cover up the spark plugs
Where do you find the low pressure air conditioner port on a 1996 Chevy Lumina sedan?
For 1997 3.1 L engine, it is under rear part of air filter assy. Really hard to get to it.
Will a 96 Chevy Lumina air conditioning compressor fit on a 95 Chevy Lumina?
No, the compressors and mounting points are different on the 95 Lumina
How do you change the spark plug wires on a 92 Chevy lumina z34?
There are 2 ways to do this. One way is to remove the engine torque arm which is connected to the upper rad support ( the dog bone looking thing) and the other which I don't suggest unless you know what you are doing is to remove the throtle plenum.
Where to find coolant leaks 1998 Chevy Lumina?
A good place to look for Coolant Leaks is around the Intake Manifold, as if the engine has recently started to run rough, this could be a definite sign of a bad intake manifold gasket. Unfortunately, the cost of this type of repair at the local Clip Joint can end up costing you $800.
There is a metal tube that runs under the intake manifold. It goes from the back of the water pump to the rear of the engine where it changes to a rubber heater hose. That metal tube is known to rust out and leak coolant. The intake manifold must be removed to gain access to the tube for replacement.
What is the fuel pressure supposed to be for a 1999 Chevy Prizm?
The book I am looking at says the pressure for 1998 and later is44 to50 psi
Assuming that we are talking about the power sliding door, thenall the GM minivans and some others as well have a similar problem. The Lumina APV, Venture, Montana and Silhouette use a solid state control board unit inside the door to control opening and closing from inside, outside, remote key etc.
The problem is that every time the door is shut it takes a vibration pounding and eventually a crack appears on the printed circuit board.
This is a major headache as you have to dismantle the inner door cover and take the board out.If you are good at finding and fixing tiny circuit board cracks, this is sometimes repairable, BUT, usually it is just replaced. The cost is ridiculous - about $700.00 here in Canada.
Many people just decide not to bother with the powered part of the door operation.
New AnswerI also own a Chevy Lumina APV 1994 and had some work done which required the battery to be disconnected when returned the sliding door no longer worked I found out that if you diconnect your battery and reconnect it the sliding door will again work why I don't know but you may want to try this first its alot cheaper.Does the 1998 lumina have a fuel shut off switch?
does the 1998 Chevy lumina have a fuel shut off switch
What causes the brake lights not to work on a 1998 Chevy Lumina when the turn signal lights do work?
Your turn signal switch is warn out or broken. Try moving your turn signal forward and back gently while holding the brake on and see if your brake lights come on or flicker. The plastic clips that hold the turn signal switch together brake off or just wear out and because the brake lights run through this switch they don't work.
The pin switch for your brakes are under the pedal arm. Try depressing it by hand to see if they come on as it is adjustable (threads controlling degree of compression on button) if that doesn't work jump it with a jumper wire to bypass and see if they come on. If they do-fix switch, if not check the rest of circuit.
Why would a 1994 Chevy lumina apv sputter and stalls when you step on the gas?
It could be the gas. If the gas in the tank is the type that is made by corn (Ethanol) it goes bad after awhile. Other possible solutions are; The timing could be out of alignment The PCV system could be clogged. (The PCV system lets the crankcase breathe easier) There is a additive called Sea foam. Seafoam is a "run-through" type carb/fuel system cleaner. It has the added benefits of removing carbon deposits in the head (if used in high concentration) and cleaning out sludge in the crank case if added to the oil. There's instructions on the can for different treatments. It's only available in the USA. With engine warm, slowly pour 1/3 to 1/2 pint through carburetor or throttle body throat. (If vehicle is port injected slowly pour SEA FOAM through direct manifold vacuum line that will feed all cylinders, possible sources are P.C.V. valve or brake booster line.) This will pull SEA FOAM down on top of the pistons and to the back of the intake valves to dissolve carbon. Turn ignition off. Restart engine after 5 minutes. If severe carbon build up is apparent, use more Sea Foam as previously directed. Make sure exhaust is well ventilated when using Sea Foam in these various ways as fumes will be extreme for a short time. Pour 1/3 to 1/2 pint into oil crank case to clean rings, lifters, dirty parts and remove moisture. Pour 1/3 to 1 full pint into fuel tank to clean injectors, carburetor jets, fuel lines and remove moisture. Immediate Results: Smoother idle, increased R.P.M.'s better throttle response and improved performance. See label on can for detailed results for use in each area. Why would a 1991 Chevy Lumina not have any heat?
There are a variety of possible causes for this problem. First of all, I'd suggest checking the heater control valve and make sure that it isn't clogged and the vacuum line is connected. Also check the hoses going to and from the heater core, though usually if you've got a leak there you'll notice a loss of coolant and engine overheating problems. Same thing goes for the heater core itself. There is a door in front of the heater core itself that opens when you turn the temperature control to "heat", and this could be stuck or have a broken linkage, which is another possible cause. !
I have a 90 Lumina that wouldn't blow hot air, though the coolant system, hoses, and heater core checked good.
Dealership checked it over, including new thermostadt - couldn't figure it out.
Here's what fixed it: Reformulated gasoline reaps havoc on the EGR valve - massive carbon deposit build up. Unbolt the EGR valve from plenum, then use a dremel tool to grind the carbon buildup from both the plenum port and the EGR valve port. Use a shop vac to capture the debris as you don't want that debris getting into your plenum/valves/and lifters.
Your oxygen sensor probably took a beating too if you have a lot of carbon buildup. At $35, it's a cheap "just in case" measure.
All of that fouling likely caused your plugs to fire WAY hot, so you might want to replace them with accurately gapped platinum plugs.
Now see how hot your heater blows!
I can't improve on the answer but I can say the EGR valve has Nothing to do with the heating system of your car it Recirculates Exhaust gas so that emisions run cleaner!
How do you deactivate the pass key ii security system on a 1993 Oldsmobile eighty eight royale?
A: Yes, I have the key with the chip.
Q: Now how do we get these cars to run again? I have a 1992, delta 88 with 180K miles, nobody would wnat to steel this old clunker any more, I just love it and need to keep it running withou spending a forture at the dealers. Any help on how to locate the module, how to replace parts, etc will be appreciated. All my fuses are good, does this system have a relay that could go bad?
A: Measure the resistance of the pellet in your key, A GM dealer will do this for free, i.e. 616 Ohms. (Make sure it is the original key that has started the car in the past). With this value go to radio shack and get a resistor that matches (very difficult to find one matching resistor) or put a series of resistors together, i.e. solder together a 330 Ohm, a 220 Ohm, a 22 Ohm, a 22 Ohm, and a 22 Ohm resistor one after another to make a 616 Ohm resistor, or a 330 Ohm and a 220 Ohm resistor to make a 550 Ohm resistor. Whatever the resistance of the pellet in your key, is the resistor you will have to find (or make by soldering a series of resistors together).
Now under the dash cut the 2 wires out of the plug that would have connected to your lock cylinder (White and black wire& purple and white wire), now solder the resistor between the 2 wires DONE.
Make sure you place electrical tape over the connections and over any soldered resistors so it does not touch any part of the car body (ground).
If you are not certain which wires, then you will have to remove your steering wheel, air bag, turn signal switch, hazard switch, and ignition cylinder. Cut the two white wires to leading to the ignition cylinder and solder one end of your resistor (or series of resistors) to one wire and the other end to the other wire. You will need two specialty tools to remove your steering wheel, one pulls the steering wheel, the other compresses a spring so you can remove a clip (just ask the Discount Auto Parts or AutoZone guy/gal for the two tools you need to remove your steering wheel/column). You'll never be stranded again.
P.S. I did this to a 1996 Oldsmobile 88 (eighty eight)
3/8" Allen wrench.
How many oxygen sensors does a Chevy Lumina euro have?
As you have not stated year and engine model I have to speak in generalities.
4 cylinder cars have two
V6 cars have 3 or 4 depending on above
How many bolts on thermostat housing?
In most cases the thermostat housing has four retaining bolts. The exact number of retaining bolts is dependent upon the year, make, and model of the engine.
1992 Lumina no alternator output?
A quick way to check alternator on any vehicle is while engine is running, carefully touch a screwdriver to the spinning part (armature) of the alternator. If it is magnatized, it is charging. If not then alternator is not charging. The voltage regulator (the thingy that tell the alternator to charge) is built into the alternator. Replace the whole thing with a rebuilt unit.
How do you replace tie rod ends on a 1991 Chevy lumina?
Depending on which ones (inside, outside). Inside tie rod ends: slide back dust cover to expose the tie rod end. you will see a spot to place a wrench on the rack side. This will keep you from (twisting) damaging the rack and pinion unit while removing the tie rod end. Holding the rack with your wrench remove the tie rod end with a separate tool. Now for the outside tie rod end: With the wheel off, remove the cotter key from the tie rod bolt. Remove the nut that holds it to the strut. With a tie rod removal tool (pickle fork) wedge the tool between the tie rod end and the strut and pound the end of the tool with a hammer. This will properly remove the tie rod end from the strut. However, if you do not have a "pickle fork" you can use you hammer to drive the tie rod end out from underneath. I do not recommend you use a hammer on a good tie end. Also, count how many turns it takes to remove the tie rod end. Use this number of turns when replacing with the new one. This will @ least get you close to the original spot of the old one makking it safe to drive to get an immediate wheel alignment.
How do you change a fuel pump on a 98 lumina?
In a 98 lumina sedan, you have to drop the fuel tank. this is tricky in that the wiring harness and fuel lines have to be disconnected before removal. the lines can be tough because the fuel filter has a compression fitting on one end and a quick disconnect fitting on the other end. The compression fitting may be rusted solid and you can't use a torch on it. ok.. the how to. First try to empty the tank. second, using jack stands and blocking the front wheels, get the car up as high as you possibly can. Disconnect the fuel filler tube from the tank. loosen (do not yet remove) the tank straps and get some room to see the top of the tank. carefully disconnect the wiring harness from the pump/sensor unit. disconnect the fuel pressure and return lines. check your clearances and make sure you have it all disconnected. carefully position a floor jack under the tank. support the tank gently. remove the tank straps, drop the tank and bring it out you will see the pump assy and a ring that has tangs on it on the top of the tank. using a hammer and (preferrably) a brass drift push the ring to the left (counter clockwise) and as it loosens just unscrew it and pull out the pump. remember that the pump and the sending unit are an assembly. treat it gently if you plan on saving it! while you're there, be sure to replace that fuel filter!!! put it back in the way you got it out good luck!
