Where is the radiator coolant level sensor on your 1997 Chevy Lumina engine?
,
I have to replace my sensor too, The coolant sensor is located on the side of the Radiator, NOT the plastic coolant overflow bottle, as one would expect. You might want to drain the coolant down a little so when you take out the sensor, you don't make a mess. I think the sensor on these are around $40.00
TomTom4049
Just bought the coolant level sensor at AutoZone for $6.99, that's pretty cheap folks. This one is for a 1999 Cavalier with the 2.2, yours may vary slightly.
I have a buddy who is non-mechanical when it comes to his car. Funny but he was a aircraft maintenance mechanic is the Air Force! I find that an odd juxtaposition. I will replace his sensor, flush and change the oil, oil filter, air filter, and replace the coolant, and install new plugs. He's a little short on funds so I bought everything myself. Everyone needs a friend like me.

Probably Torx either T45 or T47 Allen TW 12B if its anything like the Luminas iv'e worked on previously it will be a T60 star bit but good luck most kits only go up to T55 your best bet would be to go to autozone or something and buy one seperately or atleats easier
Lumina coolant temperature sensor?
Located behind (underneath) the throttle body, it looks like a big golden screw with a plug wire on the end reffered to as a "pig-tail". Year of your lumina wold be helpful too dude. By the way, this was quite a difficult job. Can be done without moving anything but you have to squeeze your hands (or a socket wrench) through around the EGR valve and above the lower coolant line. Have fun

i have the same problem with my 92 Lumina and i cant figure it out i have tried every thing
EGR shouldn't be opening while accelerating. When was the last time you had a tune-up? You know, like Spark-Plugs, Wires, Air Filter, Fuel Filter, Clean Fuel Injectors etc... Sounds like you need a tune-up!
What kind of brakes are on the rear of 1997 Chevy Lumina?

How much horsepower does a stock 91 Chevy lumina 3.1 liter engine have?
The LH0 ("T-code") was introduced in 1988 on the Pontiac 6000 STE AWD. It featured a more exotic (for the time) multi-port fuel injection. While not known for its high RPM power, the LH0 has strong low- and mid-range torque. That, combined with its iron intake manifold reliability, gave the 3.1 L engine an excellent reputation. It was produced until 1996 and was exported in some models. This engine produced 140hp and 180lb/ft of torque.Uses: * 1988-1991 Pontiac 6000 * 1990 Chevrolet Celebrity * mid 1989-1993 Pontiac Grand Prix * mid 1989-mid 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme * mid 1989-1993 Buick Regal * 1990-1994 Chevrolet Lumina * 1990-1994 Chevrolet Cavalier * 1991-1994 Pontiac Sunbird http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_60-Degree_V6_engine#LH0

1992 Chevrolet Lumina Euro Where is the location of the under dash turn signal on drivers side?
if the right side flashes and the left does not your flasher is fine first check all left bulbs are working this includes side marker lights all bulbs need to work to make flasher blink this model is famous for bad turn signal switches try messing with the turn lever holding down if its starts to flash the contacts in the switch are crusted up with debris or burned contact. if you get the light to go on by wiggling the turn lever bad switch otherwise the signals good and the green arrow does not light up the instrument panel must be removed to change t/s indicator bulb

How do you replace the turn signal switch located on a 1995 Chevy Lumina?
This is a nightmare, only try it if you are a very qualified auto mechanic. The Signal/High Beam Cluster housing-body plastic is usually defective/inferior and will stretch causing the points to arc, casuing heat and smoke/fire, needing replacement. I replaced mine successfully. Disconect the battery(big job on A Lemona). Remove the horn pad. Get a steering wheel puller and remove the wheel. Disassemble the steering column covers (carefull unscrew and pull apart the snap-together parts), and lower dash. remember how it goes back together and keep all parts or your self-cancelling signals feature wont work. The Switch is not a simple local wiring bus/plug and play affair. Its wiring loom leads down to the Main Harness Bus Connector which connects all the local bussworks to one connector. This main conncector is "self disconnecting" when the center bolt is loosened (but still needs a little pull apart). All the sub- busses' connectors must be sistered together paralell on re-assembly. The hard part is re-conncecting all the connectors simultaneously to the main connector(like 60+ delicate connector pins, one bends- and it will short out the whole harness)(more smoke and fire). It is supposed to be self-centering when the center bolt is re-fastened, but you have to be really carefull keeping things lined up straight. Also, If I remember Allen wrenches are needed as well as torx tools, and some are tamper-proof torx that require the center nub deleted with a small punch. I Advise you take it to a qualified mechanic, let them assume the risks, I WOULD NOT DO IT AGAIN MYSELF. Or move to Florida, no one there uses signals anyway.
AnswerThere is a special tool that is required to remove the steering wheel lock plate. AnswerAs stated above PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO HOW EVEYTHING COMES APART, YOU WILL NEED TO PUT ALL BACK TOGETHER EXACTLY THE SAME WAY. Now that I made that clear, a new switch can be purchased and then go through the cable pulling and reinserting OR remove the 3 screws holding the switch in place; there are 3 small tabs around the outside of the switch assembly; carefully push each 1 back to release the 2 halfs of the switch; once the switch is pulled apart into 2 pieces take a piece of fine grit sand paper or emery cloth and remove the corosion from each of the contacts (this will renew the operation of the switch; you can replace the clear grease like substance if desired or just put the switch back together without the lubricant (the lubricant is to help prevent corrosion over time). Reassemble the switch and resinstall all the parts to get all back together again. You might try the turn signals before reassembly. What should you do if a 1995 Chevy Lumina is overheating?
First, stop driving it. Next determine why it is overheating. Check the radiator cap, and replace if necessary. Check the cooling fan and water pump for proper operation. If they are both good, then do a complete cooling system service. Drain the coolant, and flush the system with the heater control on hot. Replace the thermostat and install a 60/40 mix of the proper coolant and distilled water. This will allow for the water left in the system and give you a 50/50 mix. Bleed all air out of the system, and clean the exterior of the radiator fins.
How do you change a front wheel bearing on a Chevy Lumina?

Is there any way to open the trunk of 1995 Chevy lumina with keys locked inside of trunk?
Yeah, but you have to rip out the back seat. I did this once. Basically, pull the top of the back seat forward until and you will see two clips (about 8 or 10" from the outer edge of the seat) that point upward and hook under a steel rod that holds the seat in place. Using all the force you can muster, force the seat downward and it will unhook. Then yo can pull the seat forward and you have open access to the trunk. I was never able to get the rear seat to re-hook, but apparently it's possible because it was hooked to begin with. Also, you'll want to make a billion copies of the door/trunk lock key and put them under every floor mat so this doesn't happen again. It only happens once in a million years, but when it does, you're kinda screwed. Keep some spares.
