In a real head to head test the BMW will win.

Where is the low coolant sensor located in 92 Chevy lumina 3.4?

low coolant sensor location is on the right side of radiator tank ( passenger side of vehicle) looking at it after you open hood it is on your left side. easy way to view it is to remove right side headlamp assembly (passenger side, not drivers side) it is a black plastic square with a two wire connector. this is the"low coolant" lamp warning sensor, not the coolant temperature sensor, which sends signal to temp. gauge.

What could cause catalytic converter to turn red hot on 1993 Chevy lumina?

It is either clogged and needs replacing or you have one or more cylinders that is not firing properly and unburnt fuel is being ignited in the converter. On an 18 year old car I would suspect the converter is clogged.

How do you add coolant to a Saab?

The container for coolant is to the right in the engine bay, above the battery, and has a yellow lid that states "coolant". On the side of the container you can see a marking. Fill up to marking when engine is cold.

Do not even attempt to open container when engine is hot, steam will shoot out and burn you.

Why do 3.1 gm engines rattle when cold?

The 3.1 has special lightweight alloy pistons fitted. They expand and contract at a different rate than the block, so for several minutes the engine will emit a knocking sound until the pistons expand to fit the cylinders. In addition, as carbon builds up in the "squish zone" on the cylinder wall at the top of the piston's travel, the piston will make a noise as it contacts the carbon until the block expands. This situation is perfectly harmless to the engine. Other than the leaky intake manifold gasket problem, this engine has proven to be quite reliable and a very durable workhorse.

How do you change the tranny filter in a 2000 Chevy Lumina?

it's easy. first put a large drain pan under the trans. remove the pan bolts and pan. pull filter down by hand, there is a "O" ring that needs to be pryed out this can be a little tricky. new o ring needs to be tapped in lightly with a soft hammer an piece of wood.(i never replaced the o ring,2 filters and 115k miles ,no problem) push filter in.clean pan and magnet good.put gasket on pan and bolt it to trans. torqe is110in. lbs in a cross pattern.fill with approx 7 quarts fluid(i like mobil 1 expensive but good stuff) get it nice and hot check the level. good luck, mark.

Where is the PCV valve located on a 1992 Chevy Lumina 3.1?

the pcv is located under the fuel injection plenum, towards the back of the engine as opposed to some newer models that have this valve located in the front of the engine on the valve cover

How do you set the clock in a Premier car stereo with detachable face plate?

yep, exactly, and if you have a newer model deck with the one multi-functional knob, when the unit is turned off, hold it for a few seconds, and it will bring you to a menu...scroll throught the menu till you find clock LOL Well, I don't see that this is an actual Lumina question, but, since I happen to have a 1990 Lumina Euro AND a Pioneer Premier stereo, I can answer this question hopefully. You have to power off the stereo, and then press and hold the "function" button, (might be different on different models) and then there should be a setting for the clock. I don't have my book handy at the moment, but I can check it and get back to you later. Hope this get you pointed in the right direction.

How do you replace the serpentine belt on a 1996 Chevy lumina 3.1L V6?

Purchase a belt and the tensioner ( I like the NAPA part for this) Using the correct wrench remove the old tensioner (located below the alternator between the engine and the fender well) Locate and view the diagram near the water pump. Route the new belt as illustrated reinstall the new tensioner. Start the car, run for two minutes. Shutdown and check your work.

How do you fix a rear window defroster?

One of three things usually fails on a rear defroster. The switch can fail (it should have a light within the switch which should be illuminated when turned on). The tabs can break off the rear glass. Or the lines have "worn" off the glass. Both of these should be able to be repaired by a glass company for a small expense.

How do you install rear brakes on 95 lumina?

Its not a hard thing to do IF you have done any type of auto mechanical stuff before. You take off the tires (both if you safely can) and the brake drum slides right off behind it. You should either replace with new or have the drums machined, or"rotated" at a local parts store. Both Checker and Autozone in my area do this. After drum removal pay close attention of what springs go where, there are only two if memory serves, one long one short, and what side the adjuster wheel is on. I usually only remove the top spring until after removal. Remove the two small fasteners that hold the pads to the hub assembly and pull them out with a twisting motion to twist out the emergency brake cable-end. Assemble the new pads in the same way as the ones removed then replace the opposite of removal. Be sure to work on only one side at a time so you can use the other side as a reference in case of any confusion.
