How do you reset the anti-theft system for a 1997 Chevy Monte Carlo if your car will not start?
I had to reset the anti theft in my 04 Monte SS after ignition replacement. I cant remember exactly how I did it but it was time consuming. Seems I had to turn ignition switch from off to on 3 times. On the 3rd time go to "Crank" position and hold for 5 seconds and then release to the on position. Then I had to watch the securuty light flash until t went to a solid light. Once the light became solid I had to repeat that entire step 2 more times. It's been awhile and my car is a bit newer but I'm pretty sure that's how I did it and it WORKED! It took about 1/2 hour to get through it once I finally figured out the right way. By the way the light starts flashing diiferently when it's getting ready to complete each stage. That's how you know when your getting close to repeating the step. So if after the 1st time through it doesn't do like I said, then yours is either different or I'm failing to give the directions quite right.
Will twenty-two inch rims fit on this car?
Im sure somewhere in this world you could find 22" rims that would fit, and I'm also sure you would think they look "hot", but O how they would affect the ride. Fat 22" rubber, low profile tires, rides like a rock and handles worse, BUT O IT LOOKS SO HOT Not to mention you WILL destroy the suspension in no time. Keep in mind that ego costs somewhere around $1,000.oo a pound at discount places!

How do you remove the drivers seat of a 1984 Monte Carlo?
The power seat has black plastic covers in the rear which have these 1.5 inch long (or so) nail like pins in the center holding them down which cover the power seat rear holdown nuts. These are pried up with various pliers etc. and pull free of the plastic cover which covers (2) 13 mm hold down nuts on both the inboard and outboard side of the seat.
After the 4 rear nuts (two per side) were removed a search was conducted for maybe two front seat hold down nuts. None could be found except maybe under and through the seat track upon which the seat rides. These appear to be inaccessible (if they exist- which they likely do since there is something under the track at these locations (shouds hiding the through bolts)?
My next move is to try and lift the rear part of the seat to see if it is possible to lift it (assuming the forward shoroud coverd supports under the seat track are merely (alignment) pins and are not secured by nuts.
(This power seat has a switch to move the seat forward/backward and also two switches to control the tilt angle of the seat. There appear to be 2 small motors per track and one larger motor which is geared to each track - probably which controls the forward /reverse position of the seat.)
The seat motor(s) make sounds but the seat itself does not move. A power cable to the motor system is directly under the seat and is easily disconnected by prying open the 'quick connect' plastic tongs on the connector.
So the question remains: How is the front of the seat secured to the floor? : 1)With alignment pins under and through the seat track or
2) with a nut atop the track in bolts that come up from the floor and go through the bottom part of the seat track.
Thanks in advance if you have the answer (I'll post mine if I get one).
How do you remove original gas cap and replace it with a locking gas cap?
It would help to know the year of your Monte Carlo, but these instructions will work for the 200-2005 model years, and possibly the 06 and 07 as well. first purchase a new universal fuel/gas cap, remove the old cap like you would if you were filing up, now position the strap so that the retainer arms are on opposite corners of the square hole that the arms cath on, rock one side upward and the other downward into the square hole. pull the gas cap out and screw the new one into place. Most replacement caps will not have a retaining strap.
How do you replace an ignition switch on a 2001 Monte Carlo ss 3.8?

Where is the coolant temperature sensor located in a 1985 Monte Carlo ss?
Its on a part called the "gooseneck". follow the upper radiator hose to the engine. It hooks to the gooseneck which houses the thermostat. The sensor will have a wired plug hooked to the top. This is an incorrect answer above. The temp sensor is in the driver's side head, between #1 & 3 cylinders. There is one green wire going to it.

Does Monte Carlo have formal stock exchange?
Monte Carlo does not have a formal stock exchange. Monte Carlo does have casinos which are also excellent ways to lose or gain money depending on your luck.
Unlike the Honda/Acura vehicles for which they make a specific crank pulley holding tool, on the Nissan VG30 engines pretty much the only (and best) way to remove the harmonic balancer is by wedging a pry bar between the flywheel/driveplate teeth to prevent the crankshaft from turning while you loosen the crankshaft bolt. In order to get that pry bar wedged in, you'll have to remove the two starter mounting bolts, and just push the starter out of the way. To loosen the crank bolt, it helps if you have a nice long 24" flex handle (breaker bar). It also helps if you have an assistant to hold the pry bar and keep it wedged in between the flywheel teeth at the right angle so you should then be able to give that breaker bar a good impact. Good luck! A easy way to remove a Harmonic Balancer nut even on a light truck is to use the starter motor! Put the socket and bar on the nut and check the direction of rotation of the engine, make sure you have it the right way around or it could swing right around and do damage, you want the end of the bar to be resting on the garage floor, keep your hands out of the way and touch the starter motor, Bingo! it`s undone!!!!
Does a Monte Carlo door fit a El Camino?

Can 20 rims fit a 2007 Monte Carlo?
Yes. I live in Miami and have seen 24" rims on them. They might need to get lifted at that size but 22" rims fit just fine. I own a 2007 SS and will be doing the same soon....
Will a 572 big block fit in a Monte Carlo?
yes the 572 will fit in to the 70 though 88 Monte Carlo and Monte Carlo ss. in the 70 - 74 model yrs that came with a big block it is a bolt in swap, any car that came with a small block you will need to change all things related, motor mounts, exhaust, front belts, steering pump and what ever opt. that car has (clutch) in the newer models you will need heavier spring and some big block swap headers, but i have seen manifolds work. but most of all be awear that you will need to beef other things up, to handle the 572 awesome power i.e. trans, rear end, rear sus..... i could go on and on but i need to work on my own Monte ss for now, if you need more info let me know!
Why don't the brake lights work with a new fuse and bulbs?

Mpg of 1970 Chevy Monte Carlo?
Depending on engine size 350 or 454 don't expect more than 16 with 350 maybe 14 with a 454 depending on rear gears
There are no insturctions in the manual. I did find that once coolant was added it went off. My just came on again and after awhile it went off. I am troubleshooting now. My problem is either a bad sensor or it could possible be low in the resevoir. I have yet to check. If you still have the light I suggest to take it in for repair.
There is a possibility that your O2 sensor is fouled. The O2 sensor is what reads the exhaust air to fuel ratio. Have it checked..........I would have looked at a bad O2 sensor before i replaced a catalytic converter. There are some cars with O2 sensors before and after the cats, and others just have O2 sensors in front of the cats. I am not sure what you have.
