Can a blue eyed man and green eyed woman have a brown eyed child?

Yes, but: eye color is not a single trait with brown eyes being dominant over blue eyes. There are at least 8 genes that influence eye color. It is the amount of melanin inside special cells of the iris that give the color of eyes.

Caucasian children are usually born with blue eyes but eventually the eye color changes.

The case here with a green eyed man in a brown eyed woman, the child would not have truly blue eyes but would have a slight shading of blue.

It is thought that all blue-eyed people are related and have a common ancestor somewhere between 6,000 and 10,000 years ago.

Why does a trained athlete have a better lung capacity than a untrained athlete?

A trained athlete has a better lung capacity because their lungs become more efficient at taking in oxygen and eliminating carbon dioxide through regular exercise and conditioning. This leads to stronger respiratory muscles and improved oxygen utilization by the body, allowing the athlete to breathe more effectively during physical activity.

How is autism inherited?

Scientist do not know it's cause, though some do believe that it is passed down throughout the generations always skipping some of course. So, yes basically it is genetic, but others do think it is caused by mercury in vaccines you get when you are at the age of 18 Months, because some people only get it when they are that age (well, start to show symptoms of it).I have looked up in the internet though some people who have relatives or know people, and they said they had had it for all their lives. There is believed to be a genetic component to it, as it does have a tendency to run in families.

Why doesn't the fetus drown when it inhales and exhales amniotic fluid?

A baby doesn't drown in the womb because until they are born they don't ever breathe air, they don't need it. The umbilical cord, attached to the baby by the placenta on the mother's side, passes nutrients and oxygen in and removes wastes back to the mother's system for elimination. She does the breathing and eating for the baby (and the elimination too!) Imagine the umbilical cord as a scuba setup - the mother is both tanks, and the good air comes in through the hose from one tank, the bad air (usually expelled at the mouth on scuba gear) goes back to another tank. Except in this case, instead of attached to the face, this mask is on the stomach, a direct line into the baby.

The reason for this system appears to be many reasons:

- The baby is physically protected both by the flesh of the mother and a fluid sac which can deflect any soft impacts and a lot of hard impacts away from the baby.

- Being built in a fluid allows delicate structures, brain, lungs, eyes, to be built slowly and in complex patterns with a much lower chance of being broken if they are built in a fluid. Imagine these organs (and others) as a latticework of crystals - grown thick and complex in adults they can take a lot of beating and regrow, but in a baby the basic 'brickwork' is still very fragile. {This seems to be the reason that doctor's like for babies to be in the womb as long as possible, the complex, brittle growth needed is much easier on the baby in-vitro.}

- It's easier for the mother's body to pass needed chemicals in to the baby at the correct intervals. In a dry system, all of the fluids would have to pass the placenta and there could a limit on the rate of flow (only so many cars can go down the same street at the same time.)

- When it's time to come out, the baby needs to be flexible and have lots of lubrication (LOTS AND LOTS) to be expelled from the womb. Were the baby dry, or not very wet, imagine a bowling ball covered in sandpaper trying to come out of you!

Can a premature baby make it that has serratia?

Yes, they can. My son contracted the same bacteria when he was in the neonatal unit. We did see the whole picture a little difficult, however, by the mercy of GOD, he made it out alive. He is now 3 and fully functional child, with no consequences of either prematurity or the bacteria.

What color eyes will your child have if mother has dark brown eyes and father has hazel eyes?

It is difficult to predict with certainty. The child could inherit either dark brown or hazel eyes, as eye color is determined by multiple genes. There is a possibility for a mix of both parents' eye colors as well.

Can you eat 4 bananas a day?

Three bananas a day, every day, is probably too much even for an adult.

Bananas are a good source of potassium but too much can upset the sodium and potassium balance in the blood, leading to irregular heart beat and potential cardiac arrest. The kidneys normally eliminate excess sodium or potassium to keep things in balance.

Banana.com says a 9-inch banana contains about 900 mg of potassium, or about 100 mg per inch. The University of Maryland Medical Center (http://www.umm.edu/altmed/articles/potassium-000320.htm) lists the recommended daily intakes of dietary potassium are:

  • Infants birth to 6 months: 500
  • Infants 7 months to 12 months: 700 mg or 18 Meg
  • Children 1 year: 1,000 mg or 26 mEq
  • Children 2 - 5 years: 1,400 mg or 36 mEq
  • Children 6 - 9 years: 1,600 mg or 41 mEq
  • Children over 10 years: 2,000 mg or 51 mEq
  • Adult 2,000 mg or 51 Meq, including for pregnant and nursing women

How many serves of each food group should a 12-year-old girl eat daily?

should eat like 2 fruit 5 veg and milo is a good source of energy and not to fatening

Milo may give you energy but it doesn't last very long (unlike fruit) and it's full of sugar which turns into fat if it's not burned off.

A 12 yr-old girl should be eating daily:

Grains(bread, pasta etc.): 4-7 servings

Vegetables: 5-9 servings

Fruit: 3-4 servings

Dairy: 3-5 servings

Protein: 1-2 servings

Now I bet you're thinking 'what the heck is 1 serving, let alone 4!?' Well I'm going to list some common examples of what 1 serving would be for each food group.

Grains:-

  • 2 slices of bread
  • 1 medium bread roll
  • 1 cup of cooked pasta/noodles or rice
  • 1 & 1/3 cup breakfast cereal
  • 1/2 cup of muesli

Vegetables:-

  • 1 potato
  • 1/2 cup (75g) of cooked vegetables
  • 1 cup of salad vegetables
  • 1/2 cup (75g) of cooked legumes - dried beans, peas or lentils

Fruit:-

  • 1 medium piece - apple, banana or pear
  • 2 small pieces - kiwi fruit, passionfruit, plum
  • 1 & 1/2 tablespoons of sultanas, raisins or currants
  • 4 pieces of dried fruit - apricots, pears or figs
  • 1 cup of tinned fruit (just a reminder, tinned fruit is packed with heaps of sugar so try not to have it often)

Dairy:-

  • 1 cup of milk
  • 200g of yoghurt (remember if it's fruit yoghurt and it says low fat it usually means that they put more sugar into it, try to avoid fruit yoghurt such as vanilla, mango, peach etc. Some good yoghurt is organic Greek Yoghurt because it has no sugar at all)
  • 40g of cheese (be careful because some cheeses have a lot of fat in them)
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk

Protein:-

  • 65-100g cooked meat or chicken
  • 80-100g of fish fillets
  • 2 small eggs
  • 1/2 cup of cooked or dried tinned beans - lentils, red kidney beans
  • 1/3 cup of nuts - almonds, cashews, peanuts
  • 1/4 cup of seeds - sunflower, sesame

While there are plenty of foods that don't fall clearly into one of these categories - chips, chocolate - it's best to keep these 'extras' to a minimum as they are usually high in empty calories, salt, sugars and fats.

Do head lice carry diseases?

Head lice are currently being considered as vectors (able to carry disease). At the moment though there is nothing to prove that lice can carry or transmit virus or disease to humans, they are simply annoying!

Lead paint is a safety hazard to children?

Homes built in the US before 1976 may have been painted with a lead based paint. homes built after that time should not have been, although older supplies may have been used for a time. The date, if any, at whcih lead paint was forbidden for use in homes in other countries will vary. Lead is a toxic material that interfers with development of nerve and brain tissue in children. Any person who absorbes an excessive amount of lead may suffer from anemia and may experience nerve dameage. Because children are smaller and are growing rapidly, they are susseptable to damage after absorbing smaller amounts of lead. Because young children are likely to chew on paint chips, they are more likely than other members of a family to absorb significant amounts of lead and suffer harm from lead paint in a home, especially if the paint is pealing and easilly chipped. Anyone who uses flame to "burn off" leaded paint from painted surfaces, or who uses grinders or power sanders to remove leaded paint may also be exposed to the lead unless proper precautions are taken.

Can a child be a pedophile if a parent of theirs was?

Pedophilia is individualized from person to person, as causes vary, but are primarily inherent desires like any other sexuality. It is not proven genetic, but could be nurtured as "appropriate" or "healthy" by a parent. This again falls at the child, the conditioning, their psyche, et cetera.
