Can you catch a cold from being barefoot?
You have just as much, but no more than, the chance of catching a cold with shoes on. You are not more prone to catch a virus the colder it is...that would mean that all or many more people in Alaska and Siberia are always sick with a cold or flu virus. There are some studies that found that people with "hypothermia" have a less active immune system...but just being cold is not hypothermia, there is a very big difference.

Can the flu shot cause yeast infection?
No. Yeast infections can be caused by a number of factors, but there is no link between flu shots and yeast infections. Yeast infections most commonly occur for the following reasons:
1. Sexual intercourse
Although a yeast infection is not an STD, it can be caused by having sex or any other kind of penetration. Penetration can change the natural balance of bacteria in the vagina or the pH level, which may make you more susceptible to infections. This does not mean that you will always, or ever, develop a yeast infection from sex.
2. Stress or lack of sleep
3. Tight Clothing
4. Thongs
5. Sleeping in thongs or underwear
6. Staying in a wet bathing suit long after swimming etc
7. Staying in workout clothes for too long
This also applies to any kind of sweaty clothing.
8. Using flavored condoms or lubricant during intercourse
9. Using a douche
In general, a woman should NEVER use a douche unless advised by a licensed doctor.

Is there a new strain of bird flu H7N9 killing people in Shanghai?
Yes, on Easter Day 2013, reports came out of the first known human victims of a rare strain of bird flu (H7N9), which was not known to have infected humans before. Tests identified this strain of bird flu as the strain that has now killed two men in Shanghai, China. A third person in China,a woman from Chuzhou, was also found to be infected with this strain of "bird flu" influenza virus. She is reported to be in critical condition. These three did not infect each other or any close contacts.
The previously identified Bird flu strain that can infect humans (H5N1) typically is not spread from human to human. It is contracted directly from infected birds and poultry, therefore, human victims have been rare. There have been only 360 confirmed human deaths from H5N1 since 2003 world wide, although hundreds of millions of birds died in the same period.
The two men, one aged 87 and the other only 27, and the woman, age 25, reported symptoms of coughs and fever which quickly turned to pneumonia, and then eventually death for the two men.
There is no vaccine available for the H7N9 bird flu strain. There was a human vaccine developed for the H5N1 strain, however, it has not been used or made available commercially so far. It is kept in stockpile in the US in case it should mutate to become more easily transmitted to and among humans and to be ready in case of a need for its use.

Is it the Mexicans fault that the swine flu is in Brooklyn?
No, it is no one's fault. It is a highly contagious virus that is new and different strain no one has been exposed to before. That makes it very easily spread from person to person very quickly. But even if it could be blamed on a person or a location, it would not be the Mexicans or Mexico. The full results are not in yet from the teams investigating the origin of the new virus, but it is looking more and more like it may have started by mutations of the virus among some pigs at a pig farm in Texas in the US and spread from there into Mexico where there was an outbreak in a small village in southern Mexico. It is believed to have been in existence longer than initially expected but in numbers that did not cause it to be noticed until the village in Mexico came to the forefront in the news.

Can you get more than one flu vaccine a year?
Usually you only need a single vaccination each flu season since the seasonal flu vaccination contains vaccine against the three mostly likely types of flu to be circulating during that season. In the pandemic of H1N1 in 2009, two vaccinations were needed, one for the three types of seasonal flu and one for H1N1/09 "swine flu." In the 2010-2011 flu season, the H1N1 vaccine is included with two other flu virus vaccines to make up the seasonal flu vaccination. If you had the swine flu vaccine in 2009, it won't hurt to have it again in the seasonal flu vaccination.
If another new flu virus is found to have developed, then, like in the 2009 pandemic, vaccines for the new flu virus may be produced in time to be taken, but not in time to be included in the seasonal flu shot as one of the three virus vaccines. Then, a second vaccination for the new flu may be required as it was in the 2009 - 2010 flu season of the pandemic.
Other than the potential sore arm, it won't hurt to have flu vaccines more than once for most people. Ask a doctor, pharmacist, or the clinician delivering the vaccination for advice before the vaccine is given.
