How can you change Daewoo Lanos rear shocks?

Use axle stands for safety. Jack up both rear sides of car, remove rear wheels. Use another jack under individual How_do_you_remove_rear_spring_to_put_new_one_on_daewoo_lanos, remove single bolt at bottom of shock absorber, lower jack under wheel, this will allow shocker to disconnect, press down on hub, spring can be removed by hand, replace spring and do same for other side. Both can be done at once if you have enough jacks or axle stands.

How do you reset the air bag light on a lanos?

I tried and tried to get that light to go off, i was told the airbags would still function properly with the light on or not. so if it really bugs you just take out the 10 screws that hold the guage cluster in the dashboard and remove the light bulb. that's what i did.

Robert Cravens_robert@yahoo.com

Or you can try and reset it by disconnecting the battery for min of 5 mins, but make sure you have the code to reprograme the radio

Try disconnecting the seat belt light connector under your drivers seat, then turn engine on, air bag should complete self test. Then turn engine off and reconnect seat belt light and all should be working fine.

Why does your foglamp fuse keep blowing when you put it in?

Either you've stuck a bulb that's too high-powered in the lamp, or there's a damage to the wiring loom.

Why does a 2000 Lanos Daewoo make a humming noise while driving striaght and only turning left?

Usually there is some kind of debree or dirt in the system clogging a valve. The fluid has to in or out of the cylinder. Its either the inlet or return valve not letting the fluid flow freely it is being forced thru usually causing the noise. Try flushing the system or replacing the rack.

I had this problem. Found out it was the Axle Shaft on the drivers side that was going out. After driving for about another month it progressively got worst. I took it to the dealer and it cost about $300 for the replacement.

What is the average life of car tires?

Too many variables.

If you only drove 100 miles a year and you kept the car in a garage then the answer is likely to be a long time. However, take it to a track day and see a set of tyres disappear in smoke in a day or less depending on, again, many factors, inc' front wheel drive "v" rear wheel drive, agressive nature of the driving etc.

Your tyres have a tyre wear indicator throughout the tread tyre, it's known as the bridge. There are legal requirements as to how deep tyres in the UK must be and across what % of the tyre. Is this what you are asking?

If in doubt call in at a garage or Google for the legal bottom line.

Inspect your tyres for wear and tear at least once a month I'd suggest and beware extra bulges in the sidewall, especially on the front tyres.

If in doubt - have them replaced.

How do you change the oil on a 1999 Daewoo Lanos?

AnswerPlan to change your motor oil every 3,000 miles or every 3 months. However, you may want to do it more often if you've been driving in very hot and/or dusty conditions.

Getting Ready

Steps:

1. Gather necessary tools and materials (refer to Necessary Items list). If you plan to change your oil regularly, consider investing in jack stands, a socket set and an oil drain pan.

2. Run the car's engine for 10 minutes before you drain the oil. Warm oil drains faster than cold oil.

3. Park the car on a level surface, engage the parking brake and turn off the engine. If your car has a low clearance, raise it by driving it onto a ramp or by jacking it up and supporting it securely.

4. Open the hood and place the new oil and funnel on top of the engine to ensure that you won't forget to add oil afterwards (an expensive mistake that many do-it-yourselfers make!).

Tips:

Consult your owner's manual or an automotive parts specialist to find out the weight of oil and type of oil filter your car needs.

You'll need the year, make, model and mileage of your car if you go to an auto parts store.

Warnings:

Make sure the car is securely supported before you crawl underneath.

You will need two jack stands to support the front of your car after jacking it up. Never get under a car that is supported only by a jack! A pair of jack stands costs less than $20.

Draining the Oil and Changing the Oil Filter

Steps:

1. Crawl under the car once it is securely supported.

2. Locate the oil drain plug on the underside of the engine, usually near the front center of the car. Consult your owner's manual for the exact location.

3. Place the oil drain pan under the plug and loosen the plug with a socket wrench. Remember: turn counterclockwise to remove bolts.

4. Remove the plug by hand. Be prepared for the rush of hot oil!

5. Let the oil drain into the pan. Hold onto the plug.

6. Reposition the pan, if necessary, to catch all the dripping oil.

7. Wipe off the drain plug and the plug opening when the oil finishes draining.

8. Replace the drain plug gasket.

9. Reinstall the plug. Always start threading any bolts or screws by hand to prevent cross threading.

10. Tighten with a wrench or socket. Be careful not to overtighten the plug.

11. Locate the existing oil filter. Oil filters are usually on the side of the engine.

12. Position the oil pan underneath the filter to catch any remaining oil.

13. Use an adjustable oil filter wrench to unscrew the old oil filter.

14. Use a rag to wipe the area where the filter mounts to the engine. Make sure the rubber seal of the old filter is not stuck to the engine.

15. Use some new oil to lightly coat the rubber seal of the new filter.

16. Screw the new filter into place by hand. It's usually not necessary to tighten the oil filter with the oil filter wrench, but have it at the ready if you're grip's not strong (or large) enough.

Tips:

Wear gloves to remove the plug if it's hot.

It's always best to replace the oil drain plug gasket.

Use the right size wrench or socket. Don't use an adjustable wrench: you can strip the bolt.

Warnings:

Handle hot automotive oil with extreme care.

Be careful when removing the old oil filter. It's full of oil.

Installing New Oil and Cleaning Up

Steps:

1. Locate the oil filler cap on top of the engine. Remove it.

2. Place the funnel in the opening and pour in the new oil. Typically, you will use 4 to 5 quarts of oil. Check your manual for the correct oil capacity.

3. Replace the cap when you're finished.

4. Run the engine for a minute, then check the dipstick. Add more oil if necessary.

5. Check the area around the oil drain plug and the filter for oil leaks. Tighten the plug or oil filter if you find leakage.

6. Use rags and newspapers to wipe away excess oil.

7. Pour the used oil into a plastic container after the used oil cools.

8. Dispose the used oil properly: either bring it to a recycling center or an auto repair shop that can recycle it for you. Don't pour it down the sewer!

Tips:

Record the date and mileage after you change the oil so you will know when your car is due for another oil change. It helps to put a small sticker on your windshield to remind you.

It's a good idea to tear up an old cardboard box that you don't need anymore and to put the cardboard under the car before you start changing your oil. This way, if there are any spills, the oil won't mess up your driveway. Also, while it's pouring, keep an eye on where it's going (it changes constantly for the first few minutes). If not, the oil pan might not catch much of the oil and the next thing you know, you've got oil pouring into the storm drain and straight to the ocean.

Warnings:

Handle hot motor oil with extreme caution.

Only dispose of used motor oil and filters at authorized locations.

AnswerWow! Very succinct answer. However, the owner's manual for my 2000 Lanos SE states that the oil only needs to be changed every 6,000 miles or 6 months.

How do you replace bent valves?

This is not an easy or cheap job... It requires removal of the cylinder head, this basically means taking off the top half of the engine!

you will need to drain oil and coolant, undo all sensors to cylinder head, disconnect exhaust from head, remove timing belt etc.

once you get the head off you need a valve spring compressor to squash each spring and remove the collect's that hold each valve in place.

You need to lap in each new valve before carefully rebuilding the head with new valve seals.

Then you need to put the whole engine back together again with new gaskets and sealants and new head bolts.

I would also advise a new coolant thermostat, timing belt and timing belt tensioner. Possibly also a new water pump. As if these go faulty it could mean you bend your new valves.

new oil & oil filter, and new coolant.

Not a job for a novice or for the faint hearted!

Is water collecting in the front passenger foot-well a sign of an air conditioning unit fault Daewoo Lanos 2001?

Water usually drips from your accumulator, that's how you know its working. Sounds like you have a hole somewhere and the water is coming into the car. Check your firewall for leaks behind the accumulator. -broncomudder89

my $.02There may be debris plugging the drain, causing the water drainage to back up and into the passenger compartment.

What is the radio code for a Daewoo Lanos?

The radio code feature of Daewoo models (sold in the US from 1998 - 2001 as Leganza, Nubira, and Lanos) is meant to be an anti-theft security feature, but unfortunately it can also present a problem to legimate owners when their car batteries have died or been replaced. When the radio is removed from the power source (or the power source is interrupted), the radio will reset itself (prevent any use) and flash "CODE" until the proper code is entered. Each radio has a specific four-digit code, which was originally provided on a plastic card within the owner's manual kit. New owners were encouraged to remove the card and keep in a safe place outside the car (eg home). Since these cards may be lost over time (or perhaps not passed along when the car was sold used), that leaves today's owner in a tough spot. To obtain your code... You can try calling Daewoo Motor America (the company still operates a HQ in CA for service/parts/warranty purposes); their website is still www.daewoous.com. You can also try calling your original Daewoo dealer, who hopefully still has some technical materials and personnel to help you identify your unique code. Some General Motors dealers may be able to help, as GM acquired Daewoo and still sells Daewoo-made cars in the US under their Pontiac and Chevy brands. But all methods above may be difficult for an individual detailed problem such as obtaining your unique radio code. If all else fails, TRY THE CODES BELOW, which were the most common codes used in models during the 1998-2001 model years. 4316

At this point, the radio code feature can only be a major nusance to an owner of a still-running used Daewoo. Good luck and enjoy your car!

Where is the fusebox on a Daewoo Lanos?

There are two. The first one is under the hood. On the bottom-right side of the car, near the battery, there will be a black box that has a removeable lid. There are some fuses in there. The second one is inside of the car. On the driver's side there is a small plastic door that can be removed near the left foot rest in the floorboard. There are smaller fuses in there.

Where is the thermostat located on a Daweoo Lanos?

Look for the return hose that connects to the top of the engine and comes from the radiator. The hose will connect to a metal fitting that has two bolts holding it to the intake manifold. You need to remove those bolts and you will find the thermostat there. Make sure you clean the area and install that replacement thermostat correctly. Use orange silcone as well as the gasket in order to help prevent leaks. You can find all of this at the one of your automotive parts stores.
