How do you remove the gear shift knob on a 2000 Daewoo Lanos?

Code 1618 indicates a failur in communications between the Engine Control Processor and the Automatic Trans-Axle Processor. The ECM / PCM stores the trouble info as freeze frame and the "Check Engine Lanp(MIL) will light. The MIL will be turned OFF after 3 on the 3rd trip cycle if the foult is no longer present. The freeze frame info will clear after 40 consecutive worm-up cycles have occurred wthout a foult.

On the lower, driver's side corner of the radiator, there is a petcock. Place a bucket below it and open it. You might have to feel around for it a bit, but it's there.

There is a bolt at the rearof the lower seat (in the centre) that holdsit in. Its normally hidden by the boot carpet and you may need to fold the seat tops down slightly to get to it too.

Fifth gear is like overdrive, it is meant for flat open highway driving. It is a gas saving gear so that you can travel at highway speeds at low rpm and your engine is just too small to use that gear at any other time. So use it on flat or slightly down sloped roads, fourth should be your normal gear for from about 45 to 65.

Do NOT get ripped off when you have this fixed ok... First to make sure, cheak that your oil looks milky... if it does then its deffinitly a head gasket... I had to buy a blank key from a daewoo dealer and then I took it into a hardware store to them to cut it for me. You can get the replacement key at Home Depot, is the car key # 27R I've just been quoted

IF IN DOUBT, DON�T GET A PROFESSIONAL The way you check the transmission fluid is. 1 put the car on a lift. 2 lock the parking brake. 3 start the car. 4 run the selector thru the gears just like any other car. 5 lift the car up (with the engine running) so you can go under the transmission. 6 remove the transmission plug (it is located approx in the center of the transmission on the bottom). 7 if any fluid comes out put the plug back you are good to go. If nothing comes out then add fluid until some does then put the plug back.

Also try premium fuel (atleast once every second tank) and some injector cleaner and a fuel filter would keep you going. If it is over idling, it may have an air leak somewhere? vacumn hoses etc etc

Using the station preset buttons, input each of these individual 4-digit security codes into your audio unit ONE 4-digit code at a time. ONE of these security codes should work for you.

IF NONE OF THESE SECURITY CODES WORK FOR YOUR AUDIO UNIT, you will need to do the following:

1.Using a suitable trim removal tool, carefully remove the frame / trimplate that surrounds the audio unit.

2.Remove the audio unit retaining screws.

3.Slide the audio unit forward and look on TOP OF THE UNIT in the lower right hand corner. There, you will see a label with 10 numbers on it.

You cannot adjust the belt tension on the alternator, it is automatically adjusted by the automatic tensioner located by the A/C compressor, if it's squealing check the tensioner for sticking, the belt for wear and the pullys for bearing noise.

I don't know about that, like most all cars, you can tighten/loosen the belt by moving the alternator back and forth.

You can adjust the serpentine belt in about 5 mins. get a socket wrench preferably one with a swivel, and losen the top bolt of the alternator located on the back-top of the alternator, dont loosen too much, hard to tighten back up when TB is in the way. take a large prybar, find a solid point to put base of prybar up against, push top of prybar towards rear of vehicle till belt is at desired tension"may take a try or two" hold prybar in place till you can get bolt on alternator tightened. should be all set.

You need to unscrew the plastic of the door and remove the plastic handle then get the window low you will see 2 plastic screw, unscrew and then you have to pull up the window with your hands. It's very easy.... :)
