Three effects labeling may have in relation to people with a mental illness?
Stigma is a toxic, deadly hazard, which must be eliminated
"Labels lead to stigma -- a word that means branding and shame. And stigma leads to discrimination. Everyone knows why it is wrong to discriminate against people because of their race, religion, culture, or appearance. They are less aware of how people with mental illnesses are discriminated against. Although such discrimination may not always be obvious, it exists-and it hurts."
The stigma of mental illness is real, painful, and damaging to the lives of people with mental illness. Stigma prevents them from getting the treatment and support they need to lead healthy, normal lives. Many people don't want to be... labeled as "mentally ill" or "crazy."
Stigma keeps people from getting good jobs and advancing in the workplace. Some employers are reluctant to hire people who have mental illnesses. Thanks to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), such discrimination is illegal. But it still happens!
Stigma leads to fear, mistrust, and violence. Even though the vast majority of people who have mental illnesses are no more violent than anyone else, the average television viewer sees three people with mental illnesses each week-and most of them are portrayed as violent. Such inaccurate portrayals lead people to fear those who have mental illnesses.
Stigma results in prejudice and discrimination. Many individuals try to prevent people who have mental illnesses from living in their neighborhoods.

Should you be a guardian if you are bipolar?
I think if someone has their bipolar condition managed then yes; however, they should have a back-up plan for the children in case they do feel themselves go out of control, or need to get away for a day or two to not reach the breaking point. Do I think a bipolar parent who has managed symptoms can be a good parent? Absolutely. Do I think it will be harder for them? Yes I do, but then again, the things most valuable to you in life aren't the easy things.
What to do when your feeling sad about going to school and missing your parents?
This is a very common problem kids have and they always grow out of it so don't worry. Now, you might be a shy person and only enjoy your parents company. Well, that's fine! But, maybe if you talk to other people at your school and share interests you might enjoy there company too! You can also talk to your teachers about this problem you are having, you might thing they will laugh at you or shout at you but I'm sure they won't. Also, look forward to seeing your parents at the end of the day. You can also talk about this problem with your parents. Maybe you are feeling lonely and that your parents are your only friends, but I'm sure if you talk to the other kids at school and make friends they would love your company. Hopefully my advice has helped and if you need anymore be sure to ask.
Should depression be treated with medication?
It depends on what you believe or how severe it is. I'm on medication and it helps me. But medication is not for everyone. I would talk to your doctor about it.
In medicines, isoelectricity pertains to a reversal of brain wave direction. As an example, in some rare cases for those who take Lithium Carbonate (usually for manic or bipolar disorder), the direction that their brain waves move will reverse. There has not been any cases of this being harmful, yet why this happens is utterly unknown.

How can i cure a dog's depression?
Well, believe it or not, pet psychologists do exist, so that would be one option if your quite serious about curing your pet. Also, I've heard and come to believe more or less that dogs take on the personalities of their owners to some degree. So, are you depressed? Curing yourself may help your dog. If your not, and cannot afford the psychologist for your dog, just give him or her your love and time. That's all you can really do.
Should you marry a man with bi polar disorder?
The first question I ask is "Is he on medication???"
I married someone with bipolar who was not and refused to be on medication and we are now divorced. I think had he been taking some form of medication like he was supposed to, we could have made it.
Please know fully the symptoms of bipolar disorder before you commit to marriage with this person, because they alot of times do not realize they are going thru a manic or depressive state, and many times you don't realize it either.
I read many books about bipolar and researched it online, and still married him knowing he wasn't on any medication...and the symptoms of mania/depression arose.
Manic states produce a bigger than life feeling...they are known to have frequent and various sex partners, gamble, take unneccessary risks, etc.
Depressive states produce a lower than all low feeling...they don't feel productive and so are unable to cope with day to day activities, suicidal thoughts or tendecies, moody, etc.
These can alternate, but in my case it was like my husband had 2 different personalities... Jekkyl and Hyde per say. Some days were good, but a lot of times it seemed like we were on a nonstop roller coaster.
I'm not saying your person is that same as mine, but please read up on the subject and know that you may be signing up for more than you bargained for. Good luck.
