Why do the call a tractor trailer truck a Semi?

You call it a semi because it pulls a semi trailer.

A semi is a type of trailer. A semi-trailer, as opposed to a full trailer, means it only has axles at the rear of the trailer and a full trailer has axles at the front and rear of the trailer. We call these in the UK "drags", as in wagon and drag, where the wagon that pulls the drag can carry a load on its own, whereas the semi-trailer truck, or tractor unit cannot carry anything without a trailer.

AnswerCheck the ECI fuse in the fuse box under the hood.

I figured it out after about 2 weeks. I tried everything, distributor coil, vacuum leaks, the problem ended up being the ignition switch! Random eh? The ignition switch is grounded with the fuel pump. Bad switch, no fuel, no start. I figure I post this to help anyone else out there before you spend about 1200.00 dollars on average to replace the distributor and random shop fees trying to figure it out. I replaced it and hasn't stalled since.

How do you do math calculation to determine drum ware or mesurmewnts from cam rotation on semi truck and trailers?

Build your air pressure up release your brakes and chock wheels.Back off slack adjuster just until it starts to pull out push rod from brake chamber (POT).Be carefull some auto slack adjusters have a prawl that has to be pulled out to back off brake. It will be right by the bolt that adjusts brakes. When you reach the point where the push rod starts to come out of the brake chamber, the brake is backed off as far as it will go.Make a mark on the end of your S cam and and on the slack adjuster.Adjust the slack adjuster tight to the brake drum.Any more than 120 degrees difference from the mark on the S cam and mark on slack adjuster is a fail. You can't determime the drum wear as the travel will vary depending on the thickness of the brake shoes. But this how inspection mechanics determine drumwear, with out pulling the wheels. If you have say 5/8"of brake shoes and are getting close to 120degrees your drums are probably over limit. If your brake shoes are at low limit of 5/16"your drums will probably be close.Keep in mind that 120 degrees of travel is a fail.Worn S cams, bushings, and slack adjusters can also effect travel.

Your Eagle Summit starts but wont idle then when you shift from park to drive it stalls out then dies?

Assuming all the normal tune-up parts and the engine it self are OK, the most likely cause is the distributor. These cars are famous for the distributors developing excessive play causing the electronic ignition to fault out. This shows after about 90,000 miles or so. Sooner if oil changes are not done. To check for this, remove the cap and check the rotor shaft for side to side play. Next most likely is the throttle body getting very dirty. This causes a bad hesitation off idle, then as it gets worse (more dirty), stalling at idle.

What does a timing belt do?

A timing belt links the crank shaft to the cam shaft(s) mechanically, to keep the cam(s) turning at the same rate as the crank, at a given, possibly variable ratio. that allows the right valves to be open at the right time during each stroke made by a piston. piston connects to crank, crank to cam, cam to valve. Make sense?

No it doesn't make sense, even though linked together by the timing belt the camshaft and crankshaft to not turn at the same speed, just look at the size of the camshaft pulley and the crankshaft pulley as they are different sizes the speeds are different!
