What do the terms 'emo' and 'goth' mean?
Goth:
Is a lifestyle, it's a state of mind. It's a way of life for people who think outside the box, and love the darker side of life. It's about being a free thinker and not caring about what other people think. It's about love, romance, beauty and living in that dark areas that everyone else is so afraid of. Now I know people say that it came from the 80's but if you do some research there have always been groups of people who dress in dark colors and put themselves outside of normal society. For a good example look at Theda Bara labeled "the initial Goth Girl" (website name thedabara - no URLs in answer) and to those that think goth is dead, well just remember that history always repeats it's self.
Emo:
It is a label people give themselves for being apathetic and emotional to an extreme (usually miserable), but wallowing in it and not wanting it to change. They tend to feel they are misunderstood and that life is not fair to them in specific. In fact "emo" is short for emotionally troubled or disturbed. It is in fashion with some of the group to cut themselves and wear heavy eye make-up. The hair cuts tend to have awkward sharp angles and are often glossed. Many of the guys wear very tight jeans, often women's. The girls tend to lean more towards late 70's to early 80's fashion.
__________________________
They are the names of two subcultures, both originated in the 70's subculture called punk.
Goth: A subculture consisting of gothic clothing, music and literature. The clothing is inspired by industrial, victorian and early 1900's english clothing, all mixed with dark. The music is inspired by industrial and german music, but is considered much darker. Gothic literature is basically a mix between horror and Romantic literature. No, you don't need to smoke or do drugs to be goth.
Emo: Originally a style of music originated in the 80's hardcore punk. Around 2003 it became a more generic term as the major record labels labeled bands like Dashboard Confessional and My Chemical Romance emo. Then it became a bigger subculture consisting of a specific taste of music, a style of clothing, and of course, the emotional lifestyle. The latter is really misunderstood. It has nothing to do with self-injury and depression, but is more about getting in touch with your emotions. Writing songs and poems is a common thing in the emo lifestyle.

Goth:
It's many things but the term has been around for years. It was originally a Germanic tribe then a type of building, a genre of book and eventually a subculture which holds fashion, music and aesthetics. It's more than just a subculture but it's what people can call home and a place of acceptance - we do not judge. It's about showing appreciation and beauty in the darker side of life - not evil. A typical trad(itional) Goth would wear darker colours, possibly some accessories of chains, spikes and studs. They also listen to a certain genre of rock called Gothic rock. That's what defines us as a Goth (physically, apart from the darker personality) anyone can wear black and spikes and call themselves Goth.
Emo:
A sub genre of hardcore punk formed in 1984-5 in Washington D.C. A band called Minor Threat had an idea, their idea was carried out by a Minor Threat fan called Guy Picciotto with his band (or he joined) Rites of Sping. Rites of Spring officially became the first emo band. Their fans portrayed their music as 'emo' and the RoS members mentioned this in a 1985 Flipsize magazine. Emo also has its roots in indie rock and many bands who are emo are also indie too. Emo isn't mainstream and you won't be able to hear any emo or screamo bands on the TV or radio.
Does blonde hair grow quicker than dark hair?
well maybe because my mom's hair is light than mine and hers is growing more then mine
actually, it depends on more than color. health, genetics, where you live, and how you treat your hair also add to the results
This is true but naturally darker courser hair grows faster then naturally fair coloured hair.
How do you stop being embarresed when acting?
You don't. You learn to control it by doing so. It gets easier with time.
People thing bravery is the absence of fear - they're wrong. Bravery is forcing yourself to do what needs to be done in spite of your fear.
This also goes for self-consciousness and acting.
It goes for MANY things in life. Strong people conquer their fears - they choose to dominate their fears instead of letting their fears dominate them.
I've had to do this in many areas of my life - for me the first step was figuring out that I could handle "the worst that could happen" and so it really wasn't worth worrying about.
I still worried, but I managed to carry on anyway.
So will you.
the media considers emo people to be really angry people who always wear black, who cut themselves, because they enjoy pain, and who worship the devil.
,but what really is an emo is a person who is emotionally hurt, sad, but does not like feeling pain and cuts himself to use physical pain as a distraction for emotional pain........and no, not all emos worship the devil, some are catholic, atheist, christian, and the ideal that emo people worship the devil is just a myth, it has nothing to do.
Does armpit hair make sweating worse?
yes it makes it worse because the sweat stays there and causes BO
Are there more emo boys or girls?
boys. but emo girls that aren't Mexican are hotter then the guys. (in my opinion!)
;o
Emos are people who relate themselves to emo. Emo is short for emotional and that's pretty much what emos are. Theycdress and act how they are feeling emotionally. Most ppl just see Emos as depressed ppl who wear black and selfharm. NOT TRUE!! Emo fashion is mainly skinnyz and a t-shirt. Belts and ties can be added accesories. Then theres music.. this is called Emo-Core. Some call Screamo emo but what ever you wanna think. But when ppl go saying that emo kids cut themselves and do suicide, its not true. Scene kids are ppl who dress emo and act it. ppl who cut themselves as well as dress emo and act emo are really really emo and need help.
How do you get an emo girl to like you if your a greaser?
I am emo girl. And it don't mind who you are. Just be yourself!
Don't try to "get" someone to like you. Just be what you be. And believe me: No man looks good in skinnys! LOL You are better off just letting it go if she don't like you for what you are. That is some advice to keep.
What is a person if there emo?
There are many types of emo for example;
Poser Emo Kid
Plastic Emo Kid
Emo Goth Kid
Camera Whore Emo Kid
Skater Emo Kid
Early Bright Eyes might be classified as emo music, Fevers & Mirrors for example has very deep emotional lyrics and is very sombre.
However the more recent albums have been quite a lot more diverse. Cassadaga was very much rooted in folk music, as was, to a certain extent 'I'm Wide Awake It's Morning', whereas Digital Ash featured a lot more programming and electronic influences.

Stop being emo?
There is nothing wrong with wanting to be in a certain group. Lots of teenagers will want to identify with others this way. Try looking at emo girls in your area and identify with them. You will have similar tastes in music and clothing so should be able to find one that may be interested in being your gf. It may be that you are looking at the wrong groups at present.
Hello, Mainly, Ashley is not an emo name. Trust me, most emo names have the letter "X" in them.
The term "Emo" applies to a music and fashion genre that is based on a music culture that formed in the 1980's and 1990's. The original roots were punk rock bands, but the term is now loosely applied to a range of alternative music styles. The fashion and behavioral aspects mirror some of the original trends, and have been described as dark, emotional, depressed, or moody. (These concepts are all quite familiar to many modern teenagers.)
The Original Emo
Emo was a kind of hardcore punk music that originated in the 80s. It was pioneered by bands such as Rites of Spring, and spread to include many different sounds ranging from aggressive and discordant to mellow and melancholy. Examples of bands are Amanda Woodward, Christie Front Drive and Julia. There still are "emo" bands around, who fly the flag for the original sound.
The term fell from popularity, and was then taken up by the MTV crowd. It was first used to describe more emotional bands such as Dashboard Confessional and "Thursday", and then because used as a catch-all term for any band that plays dark, alternative, emotional music. Anything from My Chemical Romance to Jack's Mannequin has been described as emo.
People started using it to describe themselves. Nearly everyone knows or knows of an "emo kid"; they probably wear dark clothes, skinny jeans, have a haircut which covers at least part of their face, and follow the "alternative" lifestyle. Whether you respect, hate, or simply don't give a damn about "emo kids", at least have some respect for the genre, back when it was simply about making passionate, experimental music.
More on Emo
Emo is a genre of music, and a quickly emerging sub-culture. There are many stereotypes associated with this new sub-culture, including the stereotype that all emo kids are depressed, cut themselves, and are over-privileged kids who are acting out. Emo music, whether your emo or not, is very enjoyable. "Boys Like Girls" and "My Chemical Romance" are examples of bands that fit within the genre.
Emo History and Revolution Summer
Emo, or 'emotionally charged hardcore punk', is a genre of music pioneered by the '80s D.C. hardcore band "Rites of Spring". Their music was a mid-tempo version of hardcore punk that focused less on social/political issues and more on self-introspection. Alongside Rites of Spring, many other pioneering bands attempted to shift the D.C. hardcore scene from the more violent antics to the artistic values of the music they were putting forth. This phenomenon was known as "Revolution Summer". During the early 1990's a second wave of bands would emerge predominantly from what is now known as the Mid-west scene. Prominent bands include such as "Cap'n Jazz" and "Bells on Trike". This style of emo was based less on the progressive hardcore put forth by the first wavers and more on emo/pop, what one might refer to as 'indie emo'. Other important bands during this era were "Sunny Day Real Estate", "The Promise Ring", and "Texas is the Reason". When emo hit the mainstream in the late-90s, due to the success of such bands, the genre had become more pop-oriented and less focused on its origins. The contemporary form of emo is often dismissed by those who are fans of the original versions. Today, Emo is more closely related to pop rock or 'mall punk' than what was played in D.C. twenty years earlier.

well all guys are different, but according to some of the girls i know they have said yes they are really passionate kissers
How do you avoid answering awkward questions from your date about the other guys you hang out with?
If you avoid answering, you'll be fueling his curiosity - and this might be a bad start. Try to use some humor, instead; transform your answers so they become a chance to smile and have a good laugh together (BUT don't lie). If you feel you don't manage to ease his pressure not even a bit and this is getting your uncomfortable, tell him so - with gentle but clear words. If he's seriously intentioned, he'll decide to postpone his questions to a better time........ Be ready by then! ;)
