What are flat files?

In database management, a flat file is one that holds all the information in a single table.

By contrast, a relational database has two or more tables having a defined relationship to each other.

A flat file is not related to any other table.

Examples

Flat file

You could keep details of a DVD collection in a flat file. Some of the fields might be:

title

date purchased

length

year issued

Relational database

A retail business might have a database with three tables:

products [one record for each type of item for sale]

customers

products&customers [each sale constitutes a record in this table. The table is related (linked) to each of the other two tables]

Tables and files

"Table" is a database term, "file" a computer term. Some database management programs make each table into a separate file. Others store all the tables in a single file.

What is a representational drawing?

Simply put, a representational drawing can be how someone sees and draws a certain subject, although the subject may not look identical to the actual item, animal, or person originally referenced for the drawing. Despite this, one can still tell what the drawing's subject is.

This type of drawing is commonly associated with children and boxes of crayons, but representational drawings can be done in a variety of dry mediums. To list a few, the mediums most associated with drawings are often crayons, markers, pencils, colored pencils, pastels, charcoal, and chalk. I'd offer more information butevery search seems to turn up articles regarding early childhood development rather than great artists' representational drawings.

What is the difference between transformer vector group Dyn11 Dyn1 Dyn5?

They all have delta primaries and star secondaries, possibly earthed. The number is the angle of the secondary voltage's lag behind the primary's, expressed as an hour on a clock-face.

11 --> Secondary leads primary by 30 degrees

1 --> Secondary lags primary by 30 degrees

5 --> Secondary lags primary by 150 degrees, making the red secondary voltage lag the yellow primary by 30 degrees (using UK Red/Yellow/Blue phases)

Dyn11 and Dyn1 are much more common than DYn5

What is the difference between busy waiting and blocking process?

Busy waiting vs. Blocking

Busy waiting is preferable when:

Scheduling overhead is larger than expected wait time.

Process resources are not needed for another tasks

Schedule -based blocking is inappropriate (e.g in OS kernel)

What can cause a spine wall bulge?

What is the formula to accurately calculate time fuse m700?

M700 fuse has a burn rate of about 40 seconds per foot, but that varies depending on several factors, including humidity, temperature, age of fuse, and specific manufacturing issues. The only safe way to get an accurate prediction of burn rate is to test the fuse.

The official procedure for testing burn rate is to cut a 3-foot length of fuse, ignite the fuse, and note the time it takes to burn. Divide the time by three to determine the burn rate per foot. If the time is off more than + or - 5 seconds from the expected 40 seconds, perform another test to verify the results. If you repeat the test three times and your burn times vary by more than 5 seconds, do not use that time fuse, but select a different batch and try the test again.

If you have access to Army Field Manual 5-250-1, you can read more about time fuse there.

What are metropolitan area network features?

A MAN is a relatively new class of network, it serves a role similar to an ISP, but for corporate users with large LANs.They typically use wireless infrastructure or Optical fiber connections to link their sites.

1.The network size falls intermediate between LANs and WANs. A MAN typically covers an area of between 5 and 50 km diameter. Many MANs cover an area the size of a city, although in some cases MANs may be as small as a group of buildings or as large as the North of Scotland.

2.A MAN (like a WAN) is not generally owned by a single organisation. The MAN, its communications links and equipment are generally owned by either a consortium of users or by a single network provider who sells the service to the users. This level of service provided to each user must therefore be negotiated with the MAN operator, and some performance guarantees are normally specified.

3.A MAN often acts as a high speed network to allow sharing of regional resources (similar to a large LAN). It is also frequently used to provide a shared connection to other networks using a link to a WAN.

What is the difference between polling and vector interrupt service routine?

polling interrupt is alternative to the vector interrupt ,

it requires that the interrupt handler poll or send a signal to each device in turn in order to find out which one is sent the interrupt request.....

What is Mother Natures greatest invention?

The greatest invention of Mother Nature is rivers. There are many different streams that flow in different orders, some being perennial or intermittent. They all follow different stream drainage patterns and no two are alike. Some of them even contain waterfall which are a breathtaking sight to see.

Name two sources of power available to industry by the early 1900s?

Paddle wheels, turned by the flow of water in a stream or river were connected to a main drive shaft, and pulleys of various sizes were used to vary the amount of power needed for individual tasks. The most common use of paddle wheels was probably the manufacture of flour, where wheat was ground between millstones, which were turned by the power of the paddle wheel, but furniture factories and textile mills also took advantage of the free power that was generated by water seeking lower ground.

Steam was also widely used in industry by the early 1900's, and so for the first time, factories didn't necessarily need to be located in flood zones, unless they needed the waterways to transport their products. Also, because of steam's ability to be used anywhere, some of the first cars and trucks were powered by steam as well.

What is glandsteam?

Gland steam is used in engineering to prevent air from entering the steam chest.

What is a dead smooth file?

It is a file.

What is gross thrust in a turbine engine verses net thrust?

Hi there,

Gross thrust is the reaction of the momentum of the jet stream produced in a gas turbine engine. If you don't know net thrust, let me tell you.Net thrust is the resultant force acting on the aircraft.Net thrust=Gross thrust-Momentum(Intake)Drag.Don't go deep in momentum drag. When the aircraft with turbine engine,is moving...Gross Thrust is more than net thrust.and when the engine is at the rest, gross thrust=net thrust.Hope you got the answer.....Good luck in your future.

Gross thrust, means the thrust when there is not forward momentum of the jet.

However, the jet has always the forward speed. When we consider this, we can calculate the net thrust as the gross thrust minus the forward momentum.

What is the differences between product quality and service quality?

one is quality of the service and the other is quality of the product. Product quality usually includes features, performance, defects etc. Service quality includes delivery time, knowledge of delivery personnel etc.

How does sudden decompression cause a plane to crash?

It doesn't--this is just an urban legend. Pressurized airplanes can usually maintain cabin pressure with one or more windows completely missing, but even if they lost all cabin pressure, the pilots would use oxygen masks and the emergency masks would drop in front of the passengers. Then the airplane would descend to under 10,000 feet where you wouldn't need oxygen.
