How do you change the piston rings?
Quite simply you have to remove the pistons. first drop the oil pan second disconnect connecting rod end caps third either remove crankshaft or remove cylinder heads then finally remove pistons. removing pistons are commonly removed from the bottom of the engine. they are pushed out of the top where the cylinder heads sit. Once removed you can replace the rings and then you have to get a piston ring compressor to reinstall the pistons.
What is the oil drain plug wrench like to Ford Fiesta diesel?
The 1.4Tdci DuraTorq engine's sump plug requires a 14mm socket or cranked ring-spanner. Luckily, a 14mm spark-plug socket can be found in most motorists' tool-box. 14mm is also equivalent to 7/16 " Whitworth.
OOps! I got the above wrong! I meant a Spark-plug socket for 14mm spark-plugs (there are little 10mm spark plugs for lawn mowers and such) and that is actually a modern 21mm or old 7/16" Whitworth. Of course, the questioner is most likely asking about one of the older diesel engines - which are quite different.
Will a mondeo mk2 zetec s rear bumper fit directly onto a mondeo mk2 ghia x?
yes mate it will no modifications will be needed at all. the zetec -s body kit fits directly onto mk1 and mk2 mondeo's
|The "Zetec S" bumper will fit the zetec engined models but will not fit the V6 as the exhaust exit for the V6 is on the right hand side.
So in a nutshell Zetec S (RSAP) rear bumper will fit the 2.0, 1.8 & 1.6 models (exhaust on left) and the ST24 (RSAP) bumper will fit the V6 (exhaust on right)
It also depends on model of car. Only the Saloon and Hatchback are interchangeable, the estate bumpers are completley different
Hope it helps :-)

with the engine running and foot on the brake, move the gear selector slowly through all its positions 3 times before returning it to "park". then check the transmission dipstick as usual
The fault is in the switch itself, quite common on this age of car, the dash lights and rear lights are worked off the same contacts on the back of the switch, replacement is the usual answer,

What does engine code 420 mean on a 2003 Ford Focus?
code P0420 - Catalyst System Efficiency below Threshold
what it means is that the car thinks the Cat is malfunctioning or broken. Sometimes this pops up if an aftermarket cat is installed or the cat is removed entirely when people are tuning their car. Often there are solutions to "turn off" or cancel the downstream O2 sensor.
If you haven't altered your car lately don't be so hasty to just replace the downstream O2 sensor or the cat. The code comes up because the upstream and downstream O2 sensors are too similar. This could be caused by one of the two O2 sensors malfunctioning. This could also be caused by the engine itself running too rich or lean. There also could be an exhaust leak somewhere letting air in.

What is the cost of clutch replacement for mondeo tdci?
Ford Dealership have just quoted me £925.00 for replacement clutch assembly plus £335.00 for a new dual mass flywheel if damaged which apparently is a common problem to Mk3 Mondeos. The reason for the considerable cost is due to the entire front sub-frame having to be removed to get to th clutch approx 5 to 6 hrs labour which has been confirm by several different garages however after asking around I have been quoted £650.00 for the clutch assemly & flywheel using an independent BMW specialist. I hope this helps, albeit painful for what Ford state is a consumable item and it will give you a price guide for a replacement.
Ford Fiesta dashboard lights not working?
It could be due to shorting of the rear number plate light fittings. This is what I found on my mondeo. The number plate and dashboard lights share a single fuse in the Mondeo, perhaps this is also the case in the Fiesta. The bulb holder had been bent out of shape and dislodged from its mount and was able to contact the metal of the hatch causing a short. This generally happened when I went over a bump with the lights on. It took me a long time to figure this because I had assumed that the fault lay under the dash. The fix was very simple, just a case of removing the number plate light cover, bending the bulb holder back in to shape and clipping it to its mount. Hope this helps
