About how much should it cost to replace all 4 struts on a 2000 Buick Regal we were quoted over 1000 seems high?

I recently brought my 2000 Toyota Camry in to a Midas shop for a quote to replace all 4 struts and I was quoted approximately $1,000. I was also told that a wheel alignment was highly recommended after the struts are replaced so that will cost about another $100 more or less. I would guess $1,000 for 4 struts is fairly standard.

How do i fix a broken horn on my 1996 ford explorer?

On the 1996 Explorer, in the power distribution box in the engine compartment, (WHICH IS LIVE - DISCONNECT YOUR NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE) there is a relay for the horn, in the 2nd row from the driver's side front fender, in the first space at the "front" end of the PD BOX. Also, in the PD BOX is a 20 amp fuse for the horn and PCM memory, in the 1st row from the driver's side front fender, in the second space from the firewall end of the PD BOX. The horn is located under the battery tray, if the driver's front wheel is removed and the rubber inner liner pulled down, a person can reach up and feel the horn or use a flashlight and mirror to check the wiring connection if the battery and battery tray are removed a person can see the horn, to check the wiring connection.

Why do you use 330 ohm resistor for LED?

It is not 330 ohms it is a value that must be installed in series to insure a 20ma or so of current limiting. This value of 330 ohms can change greatly if the source voltage changes greatly. It also has to be noted that the LEDS are not created equally So each LED voltage drop can be added to the equation.

Where are the timing marks on the cam and the crank located on a Toyota Camry 4cl 2.0?

The cam mark is behind the pulley on the oil seal plate towards the top of the seal it looks like a small line indentation. Rotate pulley clockwise until you can see it well then take yellow model paint and brush a little into the dent. Now find the hole that's in one of the spokes on the pulley. turning the pulley clockwise line that hole up with the timing mark you should be able to look through the hole and see your yellow timing mark. Heres the tricky part you can't just look through and see it because theres a fender in your way if you don't have the engine out. Use a telescoping mirror and a flashlight put the mirror down in there facing the hole with angle so that you can see it, shine the flashlight into the mirror it will reflect and show you the inside of the hole. Turn pulley until you see yellow mark lined up with hole in the pulley spoke.

The crank is a little more tricky there is a mark on the back edge of the pulley. Turning clockwise line it up with the 0 mark on the belt housing cover, but I prefer to pull the spark plug in the #1 cylinder the closest cylinder to the timing belt and put a 2 foot wooden dowel down into it. Then turn the crank with a strap wrench until the piston reaches tdc "top dead center" the point when your wooden dowel reaches it's highest point before dropping back down. Remember turn clockwise.I just went through misery with a 1991 3SFE trying to time the cam. There are 4 deep cuts in the camshaft bearing cap, one round mark in the cap that lines up perfectly with the timing hole, and then there is the small cut(I think triangular),in the edge of the cap that is the correct timing mark. Do not use the circular mark that is at about 9 o'clock. The correct mark appears at about 11:00 o'clock but in reality it is at 12:00 on the engine because the engine mounts at a slight angle in the Camry. This engine is extremely sensitive to this timing setting. Miss by one tooth on then belt and it may not start. Be sure to turn the crank a couple of times clockwise and check the cam again after the initial belt install to be sure you haven't taken up some slack from the wrong side upon release of the tensioner.

How do you make align the crank shaft gear and the cam shaft gear on a Chevrolet 350?

On most 350's, put both sprockets on then turn them so that the dot on the crank sprocket is straight up and the dot on the cam sprocket is straight down. Remove the cam sprocket, put the chain around it and slip the chain around the crank sprocket while placing the cam sprocket back into position, being careful to maintain the orientation. There were a few years around the late 70's where both dots are straight up. You would know right away when you adjust the valves because you would be assuming #1 was up for compression, and one of the rockers would be down to push the exhaust valve open. Rotate the crankshaft one revolution and readjust the valves.

Why does the emergency brake light appear on dashboard when car is running and emergency brake is off?

This light is not just to indicate that your handbrake is engaged. Its other purpose is to alert the driver that there is something wrong with the breaking system and it may not stop you as soon as you would like to be stopped the next time you push down on the pedal.

What is most likely cause of 50 amp IG SW fuse blowing 5 seconds after it is plugged into its slot on fuse panel?

Fuses That "Blow"

Without being able to "hands on" troubleshoot the circuit served by the blowing fuse, none of us can identify the specific defect which is causing your problem.

Therefore, the following generic answer can be applied to any electrical circuit, whether in a vehicle, or in a building, or whether alternating current [AC] or direct current [DC].

Fuses [and Circuit Breakers] are safety devices designed and installed in electrical circuits TO PROTECT the conductors [wires] and other components from short circuit conditions and/or overload conditions which cause an extremely large flow of electrical current [measured in Amperes], which causes overheating of the conductors that results in damage to the insulation and the conductors.

And in a worst case scenario, the probability of a FIRE which could destroy the vehicle, house, or other structure in which the circuit is located.

When a fuse or Circuit Breaker [and replacement fuses, or repeatedly "tripping" Circuit Breakers] "blow," especially if it happens repeatedly, is an indication of an UNSAFE CONDITION in that circuit, usually a short.

The fuse or circuit breaker is doing what it was designed, intended, and installed to do, that is to protect the conductors and components of the circuit which it serves.

The proper "fix" for this issue is for a qualified technician, who knows what he or she is doing, to troubleshoot the involved circuit, find and identify the defect, and make proper repair [s], BEFORE replacing the fuse again [with the properly sized fuse or before resetting a circuit breaker].

Some ignorant few people will suggest installing a larger fuse or breaker to solve the problem, BUT that will only increase the hazard, not correct it.

Do not follow "bad" advice by installing a larger fuse in a misguided attempt to correct the problem. To install an oversized fuse would almost guarantee damage to the wiring and the probability of an electrical system fire.

What is the current in through each resistor?

I=r/v I is the current, r is the resistance of the reisistor and v is the voltage of the circuit

You have it reversed, my friend.

Ohm's law states: I = V/R

When do you know your transmission is going out?

When it no longer shifts cleanly. First, check the fluid level when the engine is warm and running. You may have a leak. If so, add fluid to the full mark (DO NOT OVERFILL) and check beneath the car after it has been parked overnight to see if the leak is serious. New seals, while fairly expensive, are much cheaper than a rebuilt tranny or a new car.

Advantage of using connecting resistors series in terms of current and voltage?

if resistors connected in series the resistance will increase. Then it limit the flow of current through it. voltage may be increased.

A: by connecting any resistors in series it will limit the current flow it will effect the current but never the voltage applied

How do you change alternator in 2004 ford explorer?

Remove the belt by using a 3/8 ratchet in the belt tensioner below the alternator. Insert the ratchet into the tensioner and push to loosen the belt. When the belt is loose, remove it from the alternator. Remove the electrical connections from the alternator. Then remove the 3 mounting bolts. The alternator should now be diaconnected from the engine. Installation is the reverse.

Does putting pressure on your penis screw it up?

Well don't put to much pressure on it. I'm sure it doesn't screw it up but to much pressure is probably not a good thing.
