How do you reset or disable the anti-theft securilock system on a 2002 Ford Explorer?

I found the reset button, different ways to do this, and that if you can not find your answer on here or net period, then let me guess, dealer huh.. That is just what they want us to do so they can do the troubleshooting for us, replace starters batteries alternators, etc. When we can with manual and net help, in fact do on own. Like where I bought truck from, oh yeah seems they wrapped a wire on another open wire in the P.A.T.S. system wire harness (pw windows), I think like a jumper or bypass to get system to reset, because they were old and internet was too much of a fad for them to understand. So anyone else out there that sees this please, do not take a car with P.A.T.S. issue (anti theft flashing rapid and no start or crank on car is present) to a dealer, unless last choice and not able to find answers on any web forum related to vehicles.

Where is the ecm computer located on a 1994 ford explorer?

I believe the powertrain control module ( PCM ) on the 1993 and 1994 Explorers is in the engine compartment mounted low on the firewall near the drivers side fender. On the 1991 and 1992 Explorers it is in the right front passenger area behind the right front kick panel

Where is the computer module on a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer?

Usually it is near the left kick panel behind the fuse box. Sometimes it is mounted on the right side of the vehicle.

1996 blazer abs light always on replaced both front sensors all brakes all brakes bled still light on any ideas will the abs sensor on tail of transfer be the problem?

I would be concerned about the 4-wheel anti-lock (4WAL) braking system's "brain". It is called the electro-hydraulic control unit (EHCU). Take it to a mechanic you trust and ask them to pull codes. This is worth the money in most cases. If it is the EHCU it is going to be BIG BUCKS ($1000 - $1500 !!!) But if this is the problem and you don't fix it the brakes will just fail. The brakes wont fail Just the electronic side of the ABS The hydraulic system will work correctly with the ABS light on. If the light is on the ABS is in fault mode and is powered off, not working at all. No trouble! If the light is off it means the system is trying to work and may pulse the ABS pump

How do you replace a 1998 ford explorer compressor?

Go to the auto parts store and invest the $9 in a Hayne's or Chilton's manual for your vehicle.

Does Ford Power-stroke Diesel have a timing chain belt or other?

The Ford (International Truck and Engine) Powerstroke engine does NOT have a timing belt. It is a gear drive setup. The crank and camshaft gears are 2:1 reduction, so that the cam rotates one time for every two rotations of the crank. Timing is via a camshaft position sensor mounted in the block, that counts small windows in the camshaft gear via a hall effect magnetic pickup. This timing info is relayed to the PCM which then instructs the IDM when to fire each injector.

What does it mean when check engine light comes on?

it means an electrical wire has alerted the engine that something is either broken, or not attached etc. Go to an Advanced auto parts and they will check it for free. it takes 5 minutes. Has happened to me once or twice. I have an '02 Liberty Sport. My wife did not tighten the gas cap all the way. Tightened it up and it went away once the tank pressurized. Not saying that is the only reason, but IS a problem and a solution. The check engine light will illuminate for the reasons stated in the first paragraph. So if the gas cap is tight, probably something else. If it is the gas cap, or you suspect it is, it might take a minute for it to go off.

Overdrive Ford Explorer?

Driving in overdrive should be done when the driver does not plan on driving fast and jamming the accelerator. Overdrive is like a last gear that helps the vehicle maintain torque at low RPM.

How do you disconnect 4x4 on 2004 Ford Explorer?

there is a "Brown wire" under the vehicle that will kick the dif in and out but you can just remove your 4x4 fuse or relay but the easiest way would just to snip the brown wire and put an inline switch in so that you can select between 2 wheel and auto 4 wheel then your dial can select 4x4 high and low

What would be leaking coolant at the rear of your 96 ford explorer 4 liter engine between the firewall and engine?

Most likely comming from your heater exchanger. Tubes from the radiator go thru the fire wall to the inside heater located on the fire wall on the passenger side. Undoing the connection at the fire wall requires a special tool unless you can fashion your own like I did. You have to pull back on a ring and then pull the tubes apart. To reinstall you just push the tubes together and they snap in place. Good luck.

How do you change the high brake light bulb on 2008 kia optima?

There are two screws under the back dash that need to be removed to lift the assembly off the back dash. I had a problem with the same car. No brake lights at all. I disconnected the power to the third light and the main two brake lights started to work. There must be a short in the third brake light harness.

Could it be a timing belt problem if the engine cuts off while driving and will not start on a 1998 Ford Explorer?

Hey, this same problem just happened to me with my 98 explorer and ya you are right. I was coming home from school and my car went for like 100yds and then the engine made some noise and quit. I put new plugs and plug wires in it as well as a new fuel filter and fuel pump. It has nothing to do with fuel. I took it to a good friend of mine who is a master mechanic and he said my timing chain was broke and labor was gonna cost me 1300 plus 500 worth of parts. I am now wondering if it is smarter to get a new reman. engine. By the way there was a recall for the 98 explorer on timing chains but it ended feb.2005. Good luck man.
