Grease fitting for a 2000 ford windstar?

I've had my 2001 Windstar since new and do my own maintenance / repairs - I don't know of any factory installed grease fittings.

If there are any, like on the ball joints or outer tie rods, that'll be from having been replaced.

What is the Bluebook on ford windstars?

Does the ODBII scan code p1372 mean a manufacturer code?

Yes, the P1372 code is a Ford DTC (diagnostic trouble code)

According to the information below, plus a quick search (dogpile.com), the P1372 code indicates "P1372 Early Ignition Coil Activation Fault Coil 2" I haven't found a diagnostic as to what that really means, but it's a start.

Here's a break-down of the scan codes I find helpful:

First digit structure is as follows:

• Pxxxx for powertrain

• Bxxxx for body

• Cxxxx for chassis

• Uxxxx for future systems

Second digit structure is:

• P0xxx Government required codes

• P1xxx Manufacturer codes for additional emission system function; not required but reported to the government

Third digit structure is:

• Px1xx measurement of air and fuel

• Px2xx measurement of air and fuel

• Px3xx ignition system

• Px4xx additional emission control

• Px5xx speed and idle regulation

• Px6xx computer and output signals

• Px7xx transmission

• Px8xx transmission

• Px9xx control modules, input and output signals

What are the steps to remove the engine from a Ford Windstar?

First thing to do is buy a good repair manual! You're going to put all that effort in, you should invest the $20 to get reliable, photos & illustrated instructions to go along with this expert advice.

In order to remove the engine of the Windstar, you will need an engine hoist or similar for engine support and to lower the engine down to the ground. The steps are as follows:
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Drain and recycle the engine coolant.
  3. Recover and recycle the refrigerant from the A/C system.
  4. Remove the cowl top vent panel.
  5. Disconnect the wiring from the alternator.
  6. Loosen the air cleaner outlet tube clamp at the throttle body and remove the engine air cleaner assembly.
  7. Disconnect the upper and lower radiator hoses and secure to engine.
  8. Disconnect the heater water hoses and secure to body.
  9. Disconnect and plug the A/C discharge and suction hoses and secure to engine.
  10. Disconnect accelerator cable and speed control cable from the throttle body lever.
  11. Remove the accelerator cable bracket from the throttle body.
  12. Disconnect fuel supply and return lines from the fuel injection supply manifold.
  13. Label and disconnect all engine wiring harnesses from the engine and secure to the body.
  14. Label and disconnect all vacuum hoses from the engine.
  15. Remove the gear shift cable from the transaxle.

Damage to the steering column air bag wiring cab result if the steering wheel is allowed to rotate freely. The wire is wound like a watch spring and can be overtightened and break of the steering wheel is rotated too far in either direction.

  1. Lock the steering wheel with wheels in the straight ahead position by turning the ignition to the OFF position.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle safely.
  3. Remove the front wheels.
  4. Drain and recycle the engine oil.
  5. Disconnect and plug the transaxle cooler lines at the transaxle. Secure the lines to the radiator.
  6. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor wiring harness.

Do not allow the flex connector of the duel converter Y-pipe to hang unsupported or damage to the flex joint will result.

  1. Disconnect the dual converter Y-pipe and support to the body.

The routing of the battery ground cable to the cylinder block is critical. It should go between the transaxle and the bracket. Take note during disassembly.

  1. Disconnect the starter motor wires and secure out of the way.
  2. Remove the starter motor.
  3. Remove the engine rear plate and torque converter-to-flywheel nuts.
  4. Disconnect and plug the power steering cooler lines.
  5. Remove the upper bolt from the sway bar links.
  6. Remove the dust boot from the steering rack pinion support by gently spreading the integral tension ring and pushing upward.
  7. Remove the steering coupling pinch bolt form the steering column intermediate shaft at the steering gear.
  8. Remove the intermediate shaft from the steering gear.
  9. Remove the front stabilizer bar links.
  10. Separate the front suspension lower arms from the knuckles at the ball joint.
  11. Separate the tie rod ends from the knuckle.
  12. Remove the front axle wheel hub retainers from the halfshaft ends.
  13. Remove the halfshafts from the front wheel knuckle.
  14. Support the front subframe, engine and transaxle assembly.
  15. Remove the four retaining bolts and lower the engine transaxle and front subframe from vehicle.
  16. Disconnect the power steering pressure hose from the power steering pump.
  17. Attach and engine hoist and lift the engine slightly.
  18. Remove the engine support insulators.
  19. Lift the engine and transaxle assembly from the front subframe.
  20. Lower engine and transaxle.
  21. Support transaxle on a level stationary surface and separate the engine from the transaxle.

Installation is the reverse of removal................I hope this helped you.

Where do you spray to find a vacuum leak?

To find a vacuum leak. the vacuum hoses should be sprayed while the engine is running. A solution of dish soap and water sprayed on a leaky vacuum hose will cause it to blow soap bubbles. Spraying both the hose and the connectors should find the vacuum leak quickly.

Why is check engine light on but car runs fine?

The light is on because there is a problem with the emissions system. The engine may appear to be running fine but the emissions of the engine are out of spec. It may be as simple as a loose gas cap. Have the ECu scanned with a scan tool to retrieve the code that has been set by the ECU. This will help you find what part is being effected.

Your 2003 Ford Winstar has a ticking sound related to the AC and heater and it will not put out heat when the control is moved to hot.?

That is the mix door actuator trying to move the door, it may be stuck or you might have a vacuum leak coming from the engine. The actuator may be bad as well.

How do you replace the passenger side rear vent window motor on a 2003 Ford Windstar?

For my '01, I removed the associated cover/panel using a Torx T47 bit (to remove the seatbelt bracket) and a Phillips screwdriver. Disconnect the electrical plug ans, using an 8mm socket, remove the motor for the body. The swivel arm has a spring clip that disconnects the motor from the window.

I had the same problem in a '96 with both windows. The problem was the switch, you can open and clean the contacts with sand paper or replacing the switch.

Rough idle Chevy 4.3?

Is your Astro high mileage? Over 100,000 miles? Could be the EGR valve. Have a mechanic check the functioning of your EGR valve, which can get plugged up by carbon from the exhaust; the ECM will then make your mixture richer, which will decrease your mileage, and also help to plug up the EGR valve even more. Expect to pay around $200 for this repair. Your prices may vary depending upon region. Once the mechanic has the diagnostic device hooked up to your Astro's ECM you can find out more about your 4.3's repair needs, and let you plan future repairs. Good Luck!

Assuming your plugs, wires, dis cap,and rotor button have been replaced. The number 1 cause is the fuel injection.I forget now what they call it..csfi i think, anyway you convert it to multiport injection. The part is about $350,bosch makes it,any good parts store will have it on hand.comes with all injectors and fuel regulator all in 1.Chevy had a service bullentin about it years ago. When it goes out it causes a very rough idle, very rich condition to the point it puffs black smoke when revved up,gas mileage is about 10 miles a gallon...

What would cause the gas gauge in a 06 Chevy Trailblazer to not work?

It may be the fuel sensor going bad. I had an '05 with only 40k miles, and the fuel gauge wouldn't come off of E. They had to replace the fuel sensor and it went back to working normally. Not a particularly cheap repair since the gas tank must be removed to get to the sensor.
