What causes a whining noise when making turns on grand prix gt 2006?

That's easy. Check your power steering fluid. Its probably low and you have a leak somewhere. My 2002 did the same thing. Turned out to be a hose leaking.

How do you change the front turn signals on a 2004 Grand Prix GT?

Answer from the manualfrom page 5-58 of the owners manual

remove the headlight assembly and the bulbs are located below the Assemblyto remove headlamp assembly and access signals:-open the hood

-while pushing rearward on the headlamp, pull up half-way on the (white)plastic retaining clip on the electrical connector - align the square cut-out on the retaining clip with the notch on the headlamp

-pull the headlamp assembly straight out from the vehicle (moving the headlamp up and down slightly may help with its removal)

-locate the front turn signal, parking lamp and foglamp bulbs which are located below the headlamp assembly (turn/parking lamp on top and the fog lamp is below it)

-turn the bulb socket 1/4 turn counterclockwise to remove it from assembly

-pull the old bulb from the socket and replace it with a new one

-turn the bulb socket a 1/4 turn clockwise to reinstall it

-reinstall the headlamp assembly carefully so you don't scratch the paint

-push down on (white)plastic retaining clip on the electrical connector while pushing rearward on the headlamp making sure headlamp is secure

your done

well that's a long answer but direct from the bookI replaced a headlight on my car and it was surprisingly easy ..same as the back signals ..no tools required

What could cause the wipers to stop in the up position on a 1996 Chevy Cavalier and how is this fixed?

Problem may be in the wiper motor, some GM cars have a wiper control module that goes bad, there was a recall on them. I don't recall if the Caviliar was one of those or not.

What size speakers are in a 1999 Altima?

Go to cruchfield.com they have a section that will tell you. I have a 1997 Altima, and I went to Crutchfield.com and was told I had 5x7's in the front, and 6x9's in the rear. Turns out I REALLY had 6.5's in the rear(yes, they were stock) So, ALWAYS double check if you get info from crutchfield(or anyone for that matter) Chances are you have the same speakers i did. 5x7's in the front doors, and 6.5's on the rear package shelf.

Why does Pontiac Grand Prix transmission to slip?

it means that transmission is about to quit working that's what

I was told by a transmission shop that if the engine temperature doesn't get up to normal then a torq converter sensor will cause the converter to kick in and out, making it seem like the tranny is slipping. But, can anyone elaborate on this? thanks. lghall

Where is the PCV valve located on a 1998 Grand Prix GT?

It is not like most cars that I have had where you simply pull off a hose and pull out the valve. It is inside a housing that you remove two bolts and take off the cover which has a heavy duty spring under it so take it off slowly. Then remove the spring and I used some needle-nose pliers to grab the nipple of the valve and it pulled right out. I then replaced it with a new valve and put it back together the same way I took it off.

What is the normal water temperature during operation?

The assumption is that you are asking about coolant temperature of an internal combustion engine. Normal temperature is determined by the thermostat. Thermostats are usually somewhere around 185 to 195 degrees F. With a high pressure cap, the coolant shouldn't go much above 225 to 235.

Why does the power steering whine when it gets hot even after the dealer replaced the pump and rack and bled the system properly?

Do NOT pour any additives into your power steering. Car makers specifically warn against these additives--especially anything with teflon in it. It can clog filters and destroy your P.S. pump.

Chrysler vehicles must be bled with a vacuum pump to remove any air.

If it still whines, the filter may be plugged. Here's how to replace it:

http://www.ricksfreeautorepairadvice.com/make-model/Chrysler-make-model/minivans/load-moaning-sound-on-cold-start-Chrysler-vehicles

It is possible that it was not bled correctly. It may also be that because when the fluid gets hot it thins out, as with any type of oil. There are a lot of aftermarket products that claim to fix things such as this--I would recommend Lucas, or depending on the type of car, if it is not factory equipped with ATF for the power steering fluid, to switch it over to ATF, as tranny fluid is a better hydraulic fluid than power steering fluid, and will not harm any power steering components. In fact, most vehicles produced from 2002 on, use ATF as a factory-installed steering fluid.

I hate to tell you that the dealer draws from the same pool of techs that anyone else would. Not to mention the techs at a dealer are generally paid on the amount of work done. Sooooo... why do you assume that it was bled right?

I have a Nissan Altima '95. The engine of the car gives a very thin cranking noise when it is started. Auto repair guys told me that I need to replace the power steering pump. Can it be the reason for this?

( bled right ) is a great dealerships do not care , they are there to make money mean your money , you need to see if they ( the dealer) filled it with fluid. again they don't care about you or your property , ( money) is all.....

BLED RIGHT is the best i have seen, it doesnt matter how many times you change the pump if the reservoir where your fluid goes is dry or empty that is what is making th whine noise you hear nothing more nothin less. if you have no water in your washer its simply not going to wash right well same with the power sterring no fluid no turn, your trying to force a machine to do something it has no power sterring fluid to help it do. ITS SIMPLY DRY of FLUID!!..

There are many reasons to cause a whine even after bleeding. They include air in the system, plugged filter (though not all cars, particularly older cars, have a power steering fluid filter), and age. It is not uncommon that the pump itself may have problems with its working parts. My best suggestion is to replace the filter and use ATF fluid. Otherwise the easiest way to remove the whine is to replace the pump itself, which could be wearing out anyway. And no, it is not simply dry of fluid.

Install rear speakers in a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix?

Found this on another web site: to quote: " I have a 2000 Grand Prix Myself, it should almost be the same. You're gonna have to take the whole rear seat out first before you can get to the speakers. The bottom part of the seat is easy, you just gotta find 2 latches locate right in the middle of where both the rear seat passengers would sit, all you gotta do is pull it and it'll come out easy. The second part of the seat (The one that your back rests on i don't know what is called :P) is held by 2 bolts and the seatbelts, unscrew them both and when ready pull up and out, it should come out easy. After that its easy to get to the rear dash, unscrew the old speakers and install the new ones. It'll probably take an hour or so if its your first time once you get the hang of it its really easy, I installed both rear speakers and also wired up the sub and amp under the carpet of my grand prix. "
