What are the types of fuel systems in aircraft?
There are two Type of Systems as follows;
a. Gravity Method
b. Pressure Feed Method
How much money does a tbta officer earn?
Officers for the Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority have a starting salary of about $37,000. This will vary somewhat with uniform allowances, night differentials, and insurance/ retirement contributions. Raises are given periodically and officers have the potential to earn around $52,000 per annum after five years.
Can a V-22 land like a plane on a runway?
No, not in the traditional "plane" method. The rotor blades have a radius larger than their distance from the ground, so trying to land with the engines pointed directly forward would result in the last 3-4 feet of the propeller blades hitting the runway.
Now, they can land using a "semi-horizontal" method, and don't have to land strictly vertically. When using a runway landing, the engines rotate to between 75 to 80 degrees from horizontal, and the Osprey lands in a manner which looks like a traditional plane, but at a much slower speed - a traditional Jet (say a 737) would land at somewhere between 140 and 200mph, while an Osprey is going to land at somewhere around 30-50 mph. This means that they can use a very short runway to land, well under 1,000 feet.
How does Marine One helicopter travel with Obama?
I've been friends with 3 presidential pilots from HMX-1 Squadron. They tell me the VH-3D will fit tightly on a C-5 or C-17 after rotors are removed and will need to be reassembled at it's destination. The UH-60 I believe is easier as it's smaller and can fold it's rotors.
There is always a Marine One helicopter with the President at his destination whether it used or not for emergencies.
Got a tour and to sit in President Bush's seat on board Marine One when he was visiting Atlanta and flew in on Air Force One.
What do search and rescue helicopters search for?
They search for many diffrent things, for example they might search for a lost or boat in disreas or a swimmer that has been sucked out to sea by a Rip tide, they search for what ever needs to be found!
How were helicopters like in the 1800s?
There were helicopters in the good old days. They were more advanced than what we have today, they were 10x bigger they had about 200 seats
Lock wire or safety wire is applied in situations where extreme mechanical reliability is needed. Aircraft use a lot of lockwire to secure fastners. So do aerospace companies and a lot of car and bike racers. Here's how it works.
Imagine a bolt and nut. Now imagine the bolt having a hole drilled through it near the end of the threads away from the head. Put the bolt in the bolt hole using washers if needed and fit the nut. Tighten it up. Now do the rest of the bolts and nuts that hold this cover in place. You now have all these bolts with a little bit of their threads sticking through the nuts, and the hole we talked about is visible. Take a long piece of flexible wire - lock wire - and put it through one hole. Then twist it to the point where it reaches another bolt and put the wire through the the hole in that bolt. Repeat until all the fasteners are lock wired. Even if a nut or multiple nuts come loose, they can't get off the bolts because of the lockwire. Sometimes bolt heads are drilled for lock wire and it's put through the heads of the fasteners, twisted and then secured.
Use the link to pictures and see what's up.
How many sensors does fire Scout have?
The Fire Scout is having 5 of the sensors.
By the latest reports the Fire Scout is going to be grounded because of its over crashes and old modifications.
What do black boxes do on an airplane?
There are two "black boxes" on modern day aircraft. One is the Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) used to record cockpit, intercom, and pilot to controller communications. The other is the Digital Flight Data Recorder (DFDR) used to record aircraft flight control inputs, flight parameters (speed, altitude, etc.), and system performance. The primary use for both is in accident investigation.
And there actually orange :)
How much gas does a Prius hold?
A Toyota Prius typically has a fuel tank capacity of around 11-12 gallons. However, this can vary slightly depending on the specific model year.
A swashplate is a type of mechanism which allows a rotating motion to be transferred into a reciprocating motion. It is used in some types of engines and hydraulic equipment, but the most common use is on the main rotor and tail rotors of helicopters.
On a helicopter the swashplate is a part of the helicopter rotor which allows the rotor blades to be manipulated to control the aircraft. As each rotor blade swings around the center of the hub, the swashplate will increase its angle of attack on one sideof the arc, decrease it on another and so on in order to allow the helicopter to be rolled or pitched according to the pilots commands.
Why does a helicopter have two propellers?
The main rotor produces lift by re-directing the flow of air downward. Due to the torque created from spinning the main rotor, with just the main rotor the helicopter's fuselage (body) would rotate the opposite way until it reached a speed which was equal and opposite the torque/resistance.
The tail rotor counteracts the torque on the main rotor by creating a similar re-direction of air. Therefore torque turns the aircraft one way and the tail rotors thrust turns it the other. To turn the opposite way as the blades rotate you simpily remove the tail rotor thrust.
All helicopters need some means of generating this counter-force. There is a "Notar" (No Tail Rotor) which uses the Coanda effect to produce the counter-force.
