Interference occurs when the addendum of the involute gear goes on the increased. When this occurs there is a increase in the toothspace and decrease in the teeth of the particular gear.

So with reduction in the toothspace there occurs a slipping in the involute gear.

Inorder to reduce that particular condition we have to avoid interference in gears.

Its pretty easy for the most part. Make sure your engine is cool first.

Remove the belt.

take the fan shroud and fan off. Unbolt it from the engine.

Disconnect the hoses that hook to the pump. have something ready to catch the coolant.

BE CAREFUL UNBOLTING THE PUMP IF THE BOLT ISN'T COMING UNDONE WITH JUST A LITTLE PRESSURE TAKE IT TO A MECHANIC. YOU WILL OTHERWISE BREAK THE BOLT AND HAVE AN INOPERABLE CAR.

Replace with a new pump. dont worry about putting on gasket sealant. Just make sure to coat the new bolts so that they wont corrode.

Reconnect the hoses then fan & shroud at the same time.

Put the belt back on then make sure to refill the coolant and run it a while to get the air out of the system.

Once the coolant levels are back to normal, you should be good to go

Drain Radiator Remove 4 bolts that hold fan in place Remove belts Remove fan Disconnect water hoses (upper and Lower) Disconnect bypass hose Un bolt Remove Clean mounting surface well--prior to insatlling new pump and gasket

Either there 1. IS leakage somewhere and you're not finding it OR 2. your brakes were not properly bled OR 3. your master cyliner is shot. I'm leaning towards 1 or 3.

Honestly, a 1/2 in. impact wrench, with the impact socket that fits the nut. Could be a 28mm,30mm,32mm... or so. Use a torque wrench to install the new nut--over tightening can lead to bearing damage. Don't forget to punch the notch in on the nut to lock it in place. Use a new nut if possible. There's only about 90 lb-ft of torque on one of these nuts, so a socket on an 18" breaker bar works fine.

Well, my Chiltons Shop Manual isn't much help. Nice diagrams, but limited info on proceudre. Im thinking that if the alternator is a "remove from underneath" scenario, the pump is also.... Manual says disconnect negative battery cable, loosen bolts on water pump, loosen water pump belt & remove, after removing alternator belt. Then remove water pump pully, then pump itself. On later models you have to align the timing belt and remove it along with the valve cover assy. Doesnt look like that is the case with the 86 models...

That would be the fuel pump humming in the gas tank. The access panel and pump mount is usually located in the top of the tank under the trunk, right behind the back seat. It could mean that the pump is wearing out, and could also just be normal.

Originaly the 92 accord called for a 5-20 oil but at your current age I would recomend using at least a 10-30 but not sythetic

The relay is under the dashboard on the driver's side, under and to the left of the change holder. It's actually above another relay, just up and left of the fuse panel.
