What does the diagnostic code PO455 mean?

Can a crankshaft sensor cause the engine to stumble or hesitate?

Yes it definitely can, it can also cause the car to periodically not start, it will turn over like it wants to start but it just won't. It will also die from time to time. Trust me, after spending a lot of money to fix my vehicle it turned out to be the crank sensor, after that was replaced it runs fine. If you ask me, I would rather go back to the old distributors instead of these electronic ignitions.......a lot less hassle. Good luck.

What could cause a clunking in the drive line of the transfer case when making sharp turns in 94 jeep grand Cherokee?

Possibly bad universal joints.

AnswerIf your sure its is the t-case and its a quadra trac it could be your viscous coupler. The viscous(spelling may be off) coupler that when working properly allows the front and rear wheels to spin at different speeds such as in hard turns. When this goes bad the wheels can't disengage so a tire has to kind of jerk and "hop" to keep up or slow down for the wheel moving at a different speed. It is very common for this coupler to go bad. To replace it the transfer case has to be taken almost all the way apart (best done out of the vehicle) and a new coupler installed. The other option is to find a whole new transfer case. Either way, even doing it yourself isn't real cheap and i think a shop would charge quite a bit. There are other transfer cases that don't have this but unless you really really know what your doing i would not recommend a different model case. If you don't have quadra-trac and its making this noise in 2 wheel drive than it shouldn't be the t-case. In two wheel drive the t-case doesnt care that the front wheels are spinning at different speeds than the rear. They should be totally disconnected from each other.

Otherwise there are a few other things on the axle to check that can make turning noises. Check wheel bearings, ball joints, and the CV or U joints (whichever yours has) on the axle shafts (not the drive shaft). To check the wheel bearings and ball joints jack up the on the axle and try and move the tire back and forth in the opposite directions that the wheel turns...so push in on the top and pull out on the bottom and back and forth. There should be absolutely no play here...even a little "chunk - chunk" back and form means something is worn out and needs to be replaced. If its a ball joint (the two big greasable joints on the top and bottom of the outer axle) bring it to a shop. In U joints you should be able to see the play in them if you try and rotate the tire back and forth (again with the wheel off the ground or somebody inside going from drive to reverse but make sure its not somebody that will run you over!). There is a little movement from the differential in the axle but there shouldn't be any in the axle joints.

Where is the backup light for the reverse on Jeep Cherokee Laredo?

It is on the same circuit as the brake lights, but if they are not working, and the bulbs are good your switch needs cleaning or adjustment.

Attempt this first since the switch costs nearly $300 bucks.

On the passengers side of the trans just behind the bell housing there is a fan shaped switch, loosen the 12mm bolt ( smaller of the two, and rotate the switch while a friend checks the lights. this problem is usually accompanied by an occasional inability to start the vehicle, but can be cured by jiggling the shifter.

While adjusting the switch make sure that the vehicle will start in park as well, remember to block the wheels while testing the back up lights, engine off, key in run but not start, shifter in reverse, move switch until lights come on.

Once you find this spot, hold it in place and have your helper check to make sure it will start. This may take several tries to get both working correctly.

If you have no luck the switch may be dirty, this happens a lot. Hold the post to the bottom large bolt still while you loosen the nut, then remove it, then remove the 12mm adjusting bolt on top, remove the wire connector and pull the switch away, remove the bolts on the switch and separate the halves, use electrical contact cleaner and maybe some q-tips to clean all the copper connections completely apply di-electric grease and reassemble, refit to the trans and readjust so all functions work, this switch controls back up and start safety.

Caution! always hold that bottom bolt while tightening the large nut, this is connected to the gear adjuster and you could damage the internals if it isn't secured while you do it.

Where is the fuel pressure regulator located on a 2001 Jeep Cherokee and how do you get a replacement?

It's located on the fuel pump assembly (fuel pump) in the fuel tank. It can be replaced by removing the fuel tank and then the fuel pump.

Why would the brake lights stay on after the car is off or if is running?

Up above the brake pedal is a switch that activates the lights. The switch is either broken or it may have moved because most are adjustable. Hold the brake pedal from moving down and push the switch until the lights go out. Also check for a little rubber pad that makes contact with switch it could have dry rotted and fell off. therefore no contact is being made from switch to pedal.

How do you replace the thermostat on a 1999 Jeep Cherokee?

I own a 1997 Jeep GC Laredo with a 4.0 six-cylinder to find the thermostat simply follow your upper radiator hose to the engine block and then take off the two bolts that hold the cover on. You should then see the thermostat sitting there inside. Just be sure to put the new thermostat back in the same way the old one came out if you put it in upside-down it will not function properly.

The pump is in the tank and the regulator is near the throttle body in the rail. GM has had many fuel pump problems with your model so I would suggest you focus on the fuel pump. I hope this helps you.

New answer; He's right on the pump. But the regulator is mounted on the throttle

What would make a 350 sbc motor over heat?

multiple reasons can cause overheating, usually the thermostat. But I found out it can also be The radiator being clooged,The fan clutch is faulty,or having a flex fan with out a shroud. It also depends on how it is driven. You may have the wrong size exhaust system if you or someone else have changed the engine from a 305 or smaller size. Could also be airlocked, a head gasket might be gone, water pump might be done as well. Hard to say. Depends on the circumstances and the progression of the ensuing issue. you can also bypass your heater core to make sure your heater core isn't clogged, your can also have your cooling system ckecked for leaks, and if you or someone has added alot of stop leaks to your cooling system that could also be the cause of your problems answer

the timing could be off and also you could have a reverse flow water pump (serpintine)

How much radiator fluid do I put in a 1990 Jeep Cherokee Laredo?

Drain and flush the system. Pour in one gallon of pure antifreeze, and then top it off with distilled water. This will provide protection to around -25 Degrees F. If adding fluid to an engine with low coolant, look for the stem sticking up in the inside of the coolant overflow reservoir and add enough 50/50 mix to reach the top of the stem.
