What would cause the power windows to not work on a Chrysler LeBaron?

A few things can cause this. Start with the simple and troubleshot your way to the more difficult. CHECK THE FUSES. It could be as simple as a blown fuse. If you find a blown fuse, be sure to replace it with the correct Amperage fuse. MASTER SWITCH IN OFF POSITION. Many cars come with a master switch, or child lock-out switch. This is typically found in reach of the driver, near the driver's window switch. MASTER SWITCH BAD. The master switch could be bad. Check for power to and from the switch. This step also continues on to the last posibility, a wiring problem. Since your question implies all the windows are not functioning. If all the other test prove to be OK, then it is likely a wiring problem. Checking the wiring at the master switch will shed some light on this. Good luck, and hope it's the fuse.

How do you fix the sunroof motor of a 98 Saturn SC2?

the sunroof motor is simple to replace, but may be time consuming. you first have to remove the headliner. take all the trim holding the headliner off to bring the liner down. once you are inside the headliner, remove the two screws holding the sunroof control assembly. Disconnect the wireing harness from the motor. 3 screws hold the motor in place. Before removing the motor, make sure the sunroof is closed and sealed shut. the motor is timed to the position of the sunroof. Do not turn the motor gear under any circumstance. once the motor is out, inspect the drive cables for any visible wear. Installation of a new motor is just the opposite of removal. the new motor should come pre-timed to the "Closed" position.

Where is the thermostat located at in a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo?

Will 31 tires fit on a stock jeep Cherokee?

No, not without at least a 3 inch lift to the suspension. The largest tires you can hope to fit would be 235X75X15 and those would probably rub the fender-well at full steering stop. If this is a daily driver and you just want bigger tires for the "look" then I would suggest some large lugged 235X75X15 tires (assuming you don't have 16" OEM wheels) and then shave the inch or two where it rubs in the front wheel well. You'd be surprised at how "meaty" those larger tires would make your Jeep look. If you're looking for true off-road performance then you should look at a lift for sure.

Many jeeps packages came with extra suspension and clearance and you should, in the future when asking a question like this, provide more info as to year and model....you'll get a much more precise answer from those who've been there and done that.

Is the coolant sensor the same as a thermostat in a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo?

The coolant sensor is a device screwed into the water jacket usually in the water outlet housing near the thermostat. It will have a wire going to it, and is used to tell the computer or ECM what temperature the engine is operating at. This will allow the computer to enrichen the mixture when cold and lean it out when it warms up. The thermostat is a mechanical/thermatic device located in the water outlet housing and you cannot see it when the engine is together. It has a wax pellet inside of it that expands when hot and in turn opens a gate for water to flow through it. You have to take the housing off at the upper hose in order to see the thermostat. It doesn't have any wires going to it and is strictly for controlling the water flow through the upper radiator hose to maintain normal operating temperature so the answer is no, they are not the same, they do different things. Be aware too, that if you have an overheating problem do not just simply remove the thermostat thinking you are solving all your problems. The engine with no thermostat will always run rich, will pollute a lot, it will foul your plugs, it will lack power, your heater will never warm up, the check engine light will probably come on, it will fail the smog check if you have one where you live, the oil will run too thick for proper lubrication and, not to mention eventually over time this condition will ruin your catalytic converter. SO get the system working properly!

What is the running temperature for a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo?

I'm not exactly sure, but mine always runs at 205 to 210, and i haven't ever overheated, as long as the needle is above or below 210, you're in good shape, NEVER get it into the red line, that's when you have a problem, otherwise, you're pretty safe, even if 205-210 is the safe zone.

Why does AC air come out of the defrost vents instead of the front vents when you accelerate?

Ok, on my 99 Cherokee Sport I found that the vacuum lines along the inside of the passenger side inside fender wall to the Cruise Vacuum Module. The line continues on into the grill area and ends. On mine the end was open, causing a severe vacuum leak! Plug the end of the line and the cruise, A/C, heater, etc. all work fine when you accelerate. I don't know why the factory overlooked this?

AnswerI've heard that you can add a vacuum canister in the line to act as a reservoir when extra vacuum is needed. AnswerThis occurs because the climate control doors(that direct the ventilation in the car) are vacuum operated, using intake manifold vacuum. The default(no vacuum) position directs the air to the defrost outlets. When you accelerate, the manifold vacuum drops below that required to operate the doors, and whatever you've got the temp set at blows out of the defrost. When you take your foot off the pedal, (or release the cruise control) the vacuum quickly recovers and the ventilation returns to normal. This is a design flaw, as far as I can tell, there is no fix. AnswerCould also be a vacuum leak. same thing happened to me on my Cherokee (xj) a while back AnswerWhile this might not be correct for your Jeep, I'll offer it anyway. On my Dodge van, there is a vacuum check valve in the line which feeds the climate controls. If it leaks, the controls will follow the engine vacuum and air will come out the defroster on acceleration. The idea is that since the climate control lines should be static and non-leaking, the manufacturer can use the lines and manifold as its own reservoir during periods of low vacuum.

Midas told you that the transmission fluid dipstick on your 2006 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo was missing but the dealer tells you that Chrysler uses a plug instead. how is the fluid checked then?

Just had the same problem on my 2006 Jeep. Apparerently there are a couple of O-rings in the side of the transmission housing the deadler guessed was the problem due to the number of failures that have been repaired. All started with a puddle of fluid, to raising the hood to check fluid level before I drove the car anywhere to check the problem, NO DIP STICK, only a plug that states "Dealer use Only". So now I have to take a chance and drive the car or have the car towed to a dealer to first check the fluid level with their "SPECIAL TOOL". I choose to drive as luckily it was not far. First thing out out the dealers CSR was "It probably the connector o-rings, we have a lot of that lately". Well great, now I am part of their statistics. He said as a courtessy he would have a technition check the lever with their special tool. Well, I witnessed the whole thing and their special tool is a regulare metal cable dip stick with a ridgid 4 inche metal strip attached to the end. As the tech inserted the cable I notice there was more length left when the cable bottomed out on the base of the transmission. He then retracted the cable and looked at the graduated scale on the stick and annouced it was 3 quarts

How do you replace the wiring harness on a 1988 Jeep Cherokee Laredo?

It really depends on which wiring harness. If you are asking about the whole cars wiring I would seriously take it to a shop. Other harnesses may be easy, like the radio harness, and door switch harnesses are the easy ones.

What does check gauges light mean on 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Check GaugesFirst thing to suspect is a loose electrical or battery connection, you are losing electrical power to one or more of your gauges in the cluster. ( check the battery first ) Answer

usually battery, alternator, ecm , battery temp sensor, or bad connection any where in between. I had the same problem intermittently but the alt gauge would also drop to zero. Put in a new battery worked for a while then happened again had alternator tested at advance auto and tested fine checked all connections and they were good. I noticed the black plastic housing going to the field connectors on the alternator looked a little warped by heat . Replaced the alternator and has worked great ever since. seems like the intermittent problem is why the alternator test was ok.

Where is the oil pressure sending unit on the 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

On the passenger side of the engine block near the oil filter. If you have th 4.7 Liter V-8 the oil pressure sending unit is directly above the oil filter on the driver's side. To be able to easily remove the connector, remove the oil filter , On the connector slide the red tab sideways, push down on the plastic tail on the rear of the connector and slide it back. Use a 1 and 1/16 inch DEEP socket to remove the sensor or if you have to, a wrench. You can do this without removing the filter but you will need to remove the connector blindly.
