Where is the oil pressure sending unit on the 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
On the passenger side of the engine block near the oil filter. If you have th 4.7 Liter V-8 the oil pressure sending unit is directly above the oil filter on the driver's side. To be able to easily remove the connector, remove the oil filter , On the connector slide the red tab sideways, push down on the plastic tail on the rear of the connector and slide it back. Use a 1 and 1/16 inch DEEP socket to remove the sensor or if you have to, a wrench. You can do this without removing the filter but you will need to remove the connector blindly.

I do not think these have a cable. Mine has a sensor wich is located on the driver side, there is a small ( 13 mm? ) bolt, undo that, mark the position of the unit and pull that out look at the plastic gear inside if it is worn replace it, if not change the sensor. Mine was doing the same thing I contacted mechanic and that is what he told me, the sensor is about 25 bucks at rock auto, or a few more $$ if you have a Baxter auto store where youre at. Hope this helps.

What gas is recommended for your Solara sle?
For the six cylinder Solara, premium fuel is recommended. The four cylinder specifies regular. That said, you 'can' run regular (87 octane ron/mon) in the six cylinder. The engine control computer will detect any pre-ignition that might be caused by the lower octane fuel and will retard timing or make other adjustments until it stops. There's a price for this. Retarded timing generally means less power and higher fuel consumption so you need to carefully weigh whether you're actually saving money by using slightly cheaper fuel. Cheers

How do you replace fog lights mounted in bumper 1996 jeep grande Cherokee?
I've never seen fog lights mounted OEM "in" the bumper on a 1996. However if your talking about on top of the bumper then that is easy. Just unbolt them than take them apart and replace the bulbs. Or do what I did and install newer aftermarket ones, they work much better. With the aftermarket lights you may have to modify the OEM brackets a bit. I used rubber spacers to help hold the new lights in place and cut down the vibration. If your lights are mounted in the bumper, you will have to remove the bumper.

What might be wrong with a 1997 Grand Cherokee that won't idle?
Well, mine does this if my battery has died for longer thatn a few minutes. Keep your foot on the gas and force it to idle, not overreving too much. The computer should wake up after a few minutes. Slowly let your foot off the pedal and see if it will stay on. If it tries to die then keep it on and it should mellow out. ~mac
The idle control rests everytime you start the vehicle.
The computer will not change this setting until the vehicle is started again.
Try this:
On the back of the trottle body is the IAC Valve (Idle Air Control).
These get clogged with carbon and prevent the correct amount of air to enter the throttle body during idle creating the need to hold the gas pedal down to start and manually maintain idle.
These are around $50, but they can be cleaned.
Here's how to save yourself some money.
Remove the IAC by:
1. disconnecting the negative battery terminal (this will prevent any electrical damage and reset the computer).
2. Remove the large rubber hose connecting the air box to the throttle body.
3. Remove the air collector on the top of the throttle body (19mm wrench).
4. Carefully remove the wire harness plug from the valve.
5. Using a T20 torx bit, remove the valve from the back of the throttle body.
Inspect the valve and the "O" ring for signs of obvious damage.
Use either carburetor, or TB cleaner and paper towels to clean the piston tip, sleeve and the socket in the throttle body the valve seats in.
DO NOT TURN OR ROTATE THE PISTON!
Re-install the valve, connect the harness, re-install the air collector and air box tube. Re- connect the battery.
Try starting the vehicle with your feet off the pedals.
I have a 1997 Grand Cherokee. I found out how to do this from another website. l literally just completed this procedure minutes ago with surprising success.

Why does the oil pressure gague go to 80 after starting?
The oil is cold and does not flow easily so the pump pressure will increase. Once the oil hearts up the pressure should drop to around 40 psi. If it does not you may have a flow problem. First thing to do is change the filter. Use a good filter such as Purolator, Wix, or AC/Delco. Make sure you are using the correct weight oil.
