Can you run Parallels on a Mac and still play PC games?
Possibly, but it's inadvisable for several reasons (Note that I am researching this information via Internet rather than personal experience). The most obvious is hardware constraints: you are running an operating system that is running another operating system that is running a game, so speed will be hampered considerably. Compatibility is also a problem: Parallels, like any emulator, has its flaws. These are naturally aggravated when dealing with complex graphical operations. Bottom line is, games generally require absolute control of your machine in order to run properly for both performance and stability reasons, and Parallels doesn't provide that kind of environment. Therefore, it's probably a bad idea to run games with Parallels and XP. Speaking of performance and stability... for the love of God, don't try this with Vista.

If I remember right, if you Archive and Install it will only erase the CORE operating system and not the other files. It just re-installs over the OS.
You may have to reinstall some 3rd party applications but the other files and folders SHOULDN'T be touched. If you do an Erase and Install it will wipe the HD clean and install a brand new OS.
Make a backup just to make sure. The USB external HD housings are real cheap and you can buy your own HD to put in it for a backup drive.

How do you transfer pictures from a digital camera on Mac OS X?
Connect the camera with a USB cable to the USB port on your mac. After a few moments an icon should appear on your desktop or in the volumes folder with the name of your camera's storage disk. If you want to copy the photos to a folder in the finder, simply open the volume and click through the folders to find the photos. You can then drag the ones you want to your hard drive.
