Why is cobalt used in medicine as a tracer and not uranium?

Cobalt 60 is not used in medicine as tracer. Cobalt 60 is used to destroy cancer tumors by gamma irradiation. Uranium has a gamma radiation with an energy of about 185 keV, very small to be used for a medicinal irradiation.

How do you remove an ignition lock on a 1992 Tracer wagon?

On my '91, it went like this: Borrow a steering wheel puller. Remove the horn pad, (four screws on the backside of the steering wheel. Remove the wheel. The rest is a cake-walk and simply a matter of Removal and reinstallation. The ignition switch has a tab on the side opposite of the key that is prone to breaking. It's quite doable without spending a hundred dollars an hour if you have a decent socket set and a steering wheel puller in hand.

How do you replace the instrument panel lights on a 1993 Mercury Tracer?

I just did this job on a 1992 Tracer, there probably haven't been too many changes over one model year.

First, take out the four 12mm bolts that hold the steering column up, let the steering wheel drop down into your lap. Take out the trim panel screws for the panel around the instrument cluster (you'll need a Torx bit). Disconnect any electrical connectors from that trim panel (I had two), and remove the panel. The instrument panel is held in with 4 Torx screws, same size as the trim panel. Next, disconnect the speedometer cable from the transmission. The connector is between the engine and the firewall, and is held in with a metal clip. Pull the speedo cable through the firewall, and the instrument cluster will push right out of the dash. Don't pull too far, you just need a little space to reach the light bulbs.

Is there a switch to turn on overdrive in a 1995 Mercury Tracer or is it in transmission itself?

According to the 1995 Tracer's Owner Guide (page 241): Overdrive is the usual driving position for an automatic overdrive transaxle(transmission). It works the same way D (Drive) works, AUTOMATICALLY upshifting or downshifting as the vehicle speeds or slows. However, Overdrive also shifts into a fourth gear (an overdrive gear) when your vehicle cruises at a consistent speed for any length of time (like on the Interstate). Overdrive will increase your fuel economy when you are traveling at cruise speeds (usually 50mph or higher). But, Overdrive may not be appropriate for certain terrain such as hilly or mountainous roads because the transaxle (transmission) automatically shifts back and forth between 3rd and 4th gears while doing this type of driving. Therefore, it is recommended if your car is continously climbing hills/mountains (which requires additional power) then you should shift to D (Drive).
