You have to remove the panel which goes around the stereo and compartment. You will see four screws which are holding the holder with the stereo and compartment. Remove the screws and take out the holder. You might need to disconnect wire harness and the antenna before you will be able to pull the holder out. The stereo is sitting on 2(4) screws which keep it in the holder.

On the 96 non-turbo model the fuel filter is located right behind the rear wheel of the passenger side of the car. If I'm not mistaken the 97 model has the fuel filter located right on the firewall of the car. It should look like a cylinder tube with hoses on both ends.

The water pump could have quit working. The water would overheat and overflow through the coolant reservoir.
I was losing water and couldn't find it until i noticed there is a water line that runs underneath the exhaust manifold that has a 1" aluminum fitting that had came loose and was sending the water to the exhaust manifold so it was evaporating as fast as it was leaking.. You have to pull the exhaust manifold back (i had to take the fans off due to a 50 trim turbo) and tighten the bolt.
