The lifespan of an engine is practically what you make it. Proper maintenance, and smart driving habits are the biggest factors. Keep your oil changed, tune-ups on schedule, have your radiator system and transmission flushed every 60,000 miles, and you will have a very long lasting vehicle. But I'd say that particular one, properly maintained, you should get at LEAST 175,000 miles.

On the 2000-04, its on the driver side to the right of the gas pedal. You'll need to pull back the carpet and .move the plastic covering the bottom of the evaprator.

You can also see or feel it from under the hood, its just behind the rear motor mount on the firewall, you might have to feel for it as its hard to see.

First you have to take the cluster gauge dash cover off and the center dash piece off. 8 screws total 6 in the gauge cluster dash piece then 2 in the center piece. Once those are off you'll see the spot where you'll install the radio (old on if it's still in) remove it (if in) If your not hard wiring the system into your car I recommend you go to your local auto part start and buy yourself a wiring harness and you'll have a very easy plug and play set up. just match the colours if you do that.

If you have to hard wire the radio in then you'll do this

green/white = illumination don't need

black/yellow = dimmer don't need

yellow/red = pass rear speaker (+)

white/red pass front speaker (+)

Blue = 12V acc - Red wire on your radio

red/black = 12v constent - yellow on your radio

yellow/blue = driver rear speaker (+)

white/blue = driver front speaker (+)

black/blue = driver front speaker (-)

gray/blue = driver rear speaker (-)

black/red = pass front speaker (-)

gray/red = pass rear speaker (-)

You'll have to make your own ground this way just screw the black wire into the metal under there.

For the wires for the speakers the stereo should have a diagram on the bottom to tell you which wire color goes to which stock wire

There is a pully that will ratchet up and down to loosen or tighten the belt. Take the belt off, unplug the wire from the alternator, and there should only be 2 or 3 bolts holding the alternator on.

no you can not the turbo motor use more air and at alot faster rate do to the forced air on the turbo motors, the o2 sensor will ether 1 make it really doggy or 2 make it run way to rish

Yes it is an interference engine and if the belt breaks you will have internal engine damage. But you will not have to replace the engine. The damage can be repaired easily and is much cheaper than installing another engine. To prevent this replace the belt every 60,000 miles as recommended by Mitsubishi.

Disconnect the battery for 10-30 seconds or use error code reader to do the same thing.

It depends on which of them. There are at least 3 of them. In any case you will have disassemble the exhaust system. In most cases it will require some bolt cutting, and tool like torch good tool set and a lot of time.

The manual states that the 2.4l 4 cylinder motor takes 4.2 quarts and the filter takes 0.3 quarts totaling 4.5 quarts of 5w-30 oil.
