How much should you charge for photography of an event for 550 people on New Year's Eve?

it depends on whether people have asked you to be there or if your being invited and your are "conveniently" taking your camera. if your just going to stick the photo's on a disk for separate people than charge a small, pathetic fee of about £5-£6. i did this at someone's engagement party and walked away with a small fortune. on the flip side, if someone has asked you to be there and said they will pay you, you will have to break everything down accordingly. i.e. cost of materials etc.

if i were to do this then i would say to the organizer, £10 per hour for me being there just taking pictures. this acts as a fail safe or guarantee that if people don't buy your pictures your sure to walk away with something for your efforts. However, if people do decide to purchase something from you, research how much your printing costs are going to be. again using myself as an example my an A4 glossy finish photo will cost me around 90p. i will want to make a small profit on this so i say £1.50 for the whole A4. because its cheap the original person/ people you sold the picture to will contact/get in touch with the others that will want to buy either a CD or an A4 print. again this varies to you as your resources are going to differ to mine. i don't normally do parties just private sittings for families and friends when they want them. its not a job just something that is available to people if they want something like this. hope this has helped
