It's on the left lower part of the engine. Follow the lower hose back from the radiator. When you disconnect the hose at the engine you will see the thermostat. It's tough to get at.

There are two. The upstream is in the engine compartment, in the exhaust pipe. Look between the radiator and the engine. You can see the sensor sticking out ot the pipe. The down stream is in the pipe just in front of the catalytic converter. You will need a special slotted socket which you can buy at most auto parts stores.

I've come across situations like that and about the only thing I could think of was to pull spark plug #1, put a small rod or long screwdriver down the cylinder and turn the crankshaft pully SLOWLY AND BY HAND while I watched the rod move up or down. Once the rod got to the top and started to move back down I turned the pully backward and then carefully positioned the pully to the point where the rod was at it's highest point. I then did something to the mark on the pully so that I would know which was the indicator for #1, either a chalk mark or a little extra filing on the pully.

On the 1988 Pulsar NX SE, when you're standing in front of the car, looking into the engine compartment, it's on the left side (the passenger side) near the top of the engine, towards the back. Just follow the big hose from the top of the radiator to where it connects to the engine. It looks like it's held on with 3 bolts that are probably able to be removed using a normal socket set without removing anything major around it. I'm going to replace mine tomorrow...

you mean the bulb? It's in the housing and comes out by opening the hood, reaching behind the housing and loosening the fixture from the back of the housing. Bulb pops into the fixture, then put it back in the housing. Usually comes out with half a turn.

it is under and behind wipers lift wipers away from window and remove don't worry will only go back right way on the gears. vented looking plastic that goes under wipers must be removed Phillips screws and popout plastic pins i broke mine you will be able to see complete wiper assembly with motor 3or 4bolts will remove entire wyper system i baught it all at junk yard 50.dollars not a hard job hope this helps

Follow the water hose from the passenger side of the radiator (as you're standing in front of the van) back to the engine, and the thermostat is inside the housing where the hose connects. There are actually two hoses that connect to the thermostat housing-one to the radiator and one to the water pump.

On my '93 Mercury Villager is a T40 Torx it should be the same on your '96 Quest.
