How do you recharge an air conditioner on a 1981 Oldsmobile Delta 88?
This is not a DIY job. You have neither the tools, nor the knowledge to do this correctly. You must have a leak or it would not need recharging. It is illegal to add refrigerant to a system with a leak. The leak must be repaired before the system is recharged. Take it to a professional for repair and recharging.
It could be triggered by the parking brake sensor. If the computer detects that the parking brake is engaged, you will get the chime (usually right when you put it in gear). Check the sensor or take it to a shop and ask them to do it.
Hope this helps.

How do you change the ignition coil on Oldsmobile delta 88?
Assuming its relativly close to an 88 model you will need these things... 10mm, 13mm , 15mm, 17mm wrenches and sockets, one will be a deep well, or a long wrench. Basic pliars, needle nose too , it helps. And a star socket, I cant remember the size, but a full set is like 9 bucks at Auto Zone. Step 1: remove the positive battery cable from the battery, and push it to the side to where you wont short it out. Step 2: Remove the 2 bolts from the intake Manifold that holds the ignition bracket on. Step 3: Remove the side mounted botl at the alternator and its corrosponding bracket that mounts to the ignition modules bracket. Step 4: Using your pliars remive the wiring harnes from the module. Step 5: Remove the 6 Star screws that Hold the Coil packs onto the Module. *Use pen and paper and write down the wiring so you dont mix the colors up when you put it back on. Step 6: Slightly pry the entire modules mounting bracket backwards twards the back of the engine. This will bend the bracket slightly, but dont over do it. Step 7: Use a 10 mm wrench and remove the 4 nuts on the bottom of the Modules bracket * be carefull not to drop these nuts, this is a tedious job. Go slow or you will be searching with a flash light and a magnet. Step 8: There is no step 8, you have the Module in your hands. be sure to test it at your Local Auto Zone, they do this for free. this part is 100 bucks, and you dont want to waste your 100 bucks. This is a non returnable item once its installed unless warrantied. Step 9: Reverse this process in exact order. I hope this helps you.

Sounds like your heater core is leaking engine coolant (antifreeze) If that is the case it will have a sweet smell and will fog up the inside of your windows.
A 1970 Delta 88 is rear wheel drive, and the speedo/odo cable should be connected to the tailshaft of the transmission, not the front left wheel. The cars dashboard may have to be disassembled to remove the existing speedo/odo cluster, and the cable connects to the back of that unit and can be removed, then the bad cable and/or bad speedometer can be replaced.

How do you replace the heater core on a Chevy Caprice 1984?
The following description is for vehicles equipped with factory A/C. Procedure will be simillar for non A/C cars. The heater core on all 1977 through 1990 GM B-Bodies is located under the hood, NOT under the dash. It was not moved to the inside of the car until 1991. To remove the heater core you will need to remove the blower motor, the rear hood weather strip, the cowl screen, the passenger side washer nozzle and the wiring connections for the blower motor and the blower motor resistor. Once you have removed these items there will be approximately 10 7mm (or 1/4") coarse thread screws to remove and a few 10mm bolts. Some are on the outside of the heater box, some are inside the box. BE GENTLE WHEN TRYING TO PRY THE BOX OPEN!!! They will crack in a hurry of you are too rough. Once you have removed the box top, there will be a retaining clip holding the heater core down. It may have a ground strap connected. Be sure to reconnect this strap. It reduces alternator noise in the radio. If it is still intact, be gentle with the foam that is covering the tube opening. You might want to just replace it with a new piece. A piece of soft foam car wash sponge will work well. When you reinstall the cover, be sure to replace the weather strip adhesive. If you can't find the correct stuff red rtv silicone works well (in generous portions). If you don't seal the box, YOU WILL have a wet floor every time it rains. Once you have everything buttoned up, run the vehicle with the heat on full blast until it gets to operating temperature. Check your antifreeze level and fill as needed. Caution! Never open the radiator when the cap is under pressure. You can be seriously burned. This job should take a beginner about two careful hours. After you've done a few, you'll knock that time down to about 45 mins. Here's a helpful trick. Grab a 6-10" scrap of 1/2 inch copper pipe to slide into both heater hoses when you remove them from the heater core. Tighten the clamps down and you will save yourself a lot of mess and you won't have to replace nearly as much anti-freeze.

How do you release the tensioner on a 1996 Oldsmobile delta 88?
I'm assuming you mean the serpentine belt tensioner. If so, grab a large crescent wrench, fit it on the bolt located on the tensioner itself, and turn slightly. I don't recall immediately which direction to turn, but irregardless, it'll only turn one way. The tensioner will itself move, allowing you to remove the belt. If you engine compartment no longer has a belt diagram sticker under the hood, remember to draw an outline of the belt routing on a scrap of paper prior to removing the belt. Good luck.

How do you install a fuel pump on a 1974 Oldsmobile delta 88?
Assuming you have a fuel pump on the car: - go buy the special 9/16 or 5/8 inch open end wrench used for removing flare nuts lines and remove the gas lines. Try not to bend the lines as putting the nuts back in without cross threading is the hardest part of the whole job. Remove the bolts holding the fuel pump. If there is an outward pressure on the pump while you are trying to remove it - crank the engine over a bit to take the pressure off the fuel pump arm. Watch where and how the pump arm comes out. Put about a three foot clear hose over the gas tank line and be sure you can suck a few inches of gas into the hose from the tank - not air. Put the new pump back in with a new gasket and sealer. Install the gas lines and be careful about cross threading. check for leaks from pump to carb.
