It is located under the intake manifold it is very easy to replace but it takes a while you have to disconnect the fuel lines remove the throtle body remove the fuel injector wiring harness remove the pcv hose remove the 6 bolts and 4 studs that hold on the intake manifold and lift it up then the starter should be in plain site and all you have to do is unbolt the starter put the new one on and then reverse the beginning steps

remove both hoses from the heater and join them with a short piece of pipe about the size of the inner diameter of the hoses. use 2 hose clamps to sealed and hold the hoses on the pipe. Or- cut the hoses and do the same type joining. later you will need another pipe and two more clamps if you want to rehook it to your heater core.

On my 1983 Oldmobile 98, I noticed the flap is locate right next to the Heater Core. That whole assembly is located under a black plastic cover in the engine compartment on the passenger side, under the windshield wiper. You can easily find the heater core by following the heater core hose from the radiator. Accessing the system requires breaking the seal on the whole A/C/Heating system, so take your time to find all the bolts and cut the sealant to remove the cover. New sealant will have to be applied once the cover is re-installed. Like I said, I have no working knowledge of a 1988 Olds, but only a 1983.

I have just had that poblem. Drain the coolant out unless you don't mind a mess you can disconnect the battery if you want but I have not been shocked are caused an arc yet. Autozone has the water pump here in Illinois for around 30.00 but you can get the coolant/antifreeze cheaper at wal-mart. You may also find it easier if you take off the belt tensioner 1. take the serpentine belt out of you way. 2. remove the pulley housing from the water pump(there are about four 7mm bolts. pull it off. 3. there are 6 or 7 bolts to remove the water pump. 4. coat the pump with silicone (blue is always the first choice but black,red, even clear will work)but make sure you can use it for an engine application because it will get hot in there. Reverse steps 1-4 refill with your choice of coolant/antifreeze and water(50/50 mix). Start the car and check for leaks.

Problem with the anti-lock brake system. Take it to a pro. I would try replacing the brake light bulb in the high brake light located in front of the rear window. If the bulb is blown this will also make the cruise control not work, and the ABS light will come on from it. I am not sure if this is true for all of the brake lights or not, but it is worth a shot before seeing a pro.

Make sure to rule out the up/down switch in the door before you tear into it. I was pleasantly surprised to find that only my switch was bad by taking the master switch off of the drivers door and (with power off) switching the wires around. It was tricky but a lot easier than replacing that motor which is very difficult to reach, being inside the door.

It depends on how bad the rust is. If the metal is rotted through in a bunch of spots, getting a replacement, rust free assembly from a junkyard is the way to go.
Often times the subframe cups and washers rust out, which can cause the frame assy to drop down. You can get those parts at your local GM dealer. It is a fairly common problem and they keep those subframe parts in stock. They will also carry the subframe bushings which may need replacement.

Im looking to find out the same thing. I know where it is in a wiring harness behind the air cleaner, but not on the transmission. I want to disable mine until I can get a valve body that puts out higher pressure. Seems the pressure line can be too low if you've moded your engine at low rpms.

It is in the plug on the driver side of the transmission that is behind the shift linkage.
