they are natural water ways e.g river, lakes, streams, or hand/ machine dug canals that are re-dug and bottom drugged regularly to keep them passable
What are the hazards of a nuclear war?
Destruction of cities and infrastructure on a huge scale, great loss of life and overwhelming injuries in the population, starvation in the survivors through disruption of agriculture and industry, breakdown of government and law and order, and long term poisoning through radioactive fallout.
No. Portugal is not too polluted. china is the most polluted because of new unfriendly environment equipment and factories.
What color is radioactive waste?
It can be any color and even colorless, such as water. Radiation doesnt effect the color or anything it has radiated.
Hypertention can be cotrolled with exercise, diet, and when it's nececcery antihypertensive drugs.which are Betablockers, ACE inh., calcium blockers
Do aeroplanes park in the air?
No, not really. The closer you can get to that is with a Vtol aeroplane (like the harrier) which can stand like a helicopter on engine power alone (without lift from the wings). However, these are few, and can't usually remain like that for long. As an example, the harrier can only remain hovering for one and a half minute, as in that position the engine refrigeration is assured by water cooling (as there is no airflow) and the water tanks only carry enough water for that time period.
I have a 58 year old Wisteria tree growing along the gutters and roof of our house and dripping down in May with beautiful long tendrils of pink/purple flowers. We have removed it from the gutters and added an addition onto the house for it to grab onto because the Wisteria vines are so powerful they can pull the eaves away from the house! It's so magnificent that people will stop their cars and some even get out to come ask us what it is. There are many different varieties of the Wisteria and some bloom right from spring to Fall. Mine only blooms for two weeks in May. The long tendrils that you see reaching out to grab ya, is what you cut off the Wisteria. It has no leaves! You train the leafy branches where you want them. If you think your Wisteria is getting too bushy you can prune a few leafy branches off during the spring and summer. Usually climbing along the side of your house or fence and some people allow them to grow up their trees. I prefer draping the long leafy branches along the side of the house on the porch area. This plant (made into a tree) looks awesome spilling over a arbor. Before winter (if you have harsh winters especially) lay hay or sod on top of the root system and cover your Wisteria with clear plastic to stop frost from killing it. Wisteria trees are made by using those long tendrils to continuously wrap around and around until it forms a trunk. If you find some of your Wisteria growing close by then by all means plant it in a 10 inch pot and cultivate it for future use. It doesn't take long for them to grow. BEWARE! The pods (like long pea pods) SHOULD BE CUT OFF! They are highly poisonous so keep children and pets away!
If 1 mole of gas occupies 224 dm cubed then how many m cubed would 2263000 tons be?
There is one critical piece of information missing in the question, i.e. which gas are we talking about since different gas will have different molecular weight. In addition 1 mole of gas occupies volume of 22.4 dm3 at stp. This is equivalent to 22.4 L or 0.0224 m3 per mole of gas. Assuming the molecular weight of the gas Y is x g/mole, then the general solution is as followed: 2263000 tons of gas Y equal 226300*1016*1000g/(x g/mole)*(0.0224 m3/mole) equal 5.15022592e9/x m3 of gas Y
Does a biological oxygen demand value would be a negative value?
The only way a biochemical oxygen demand value could be negative is if oxygen increased in your incubation. This could result from several errors, but most likely light was allowed to penetrate your bottle allowing photosynthesis to occur. If everything was done correctly (e.g. insturments are calibrated and working, no errors were made in calculations) you should have at least a 1mg/L difference between initial and final dissolved oxygen readings yielding a positive value.
What are the different types of MP3s?
Mp3 is a certain type of Music file. There are not different types (unless speaking of the quality 36kbps-360kbps). Different types of music files are WMA, OGG, WAV
How do greenhouse gas emissions impact change?
Greenhouse gases capture heat rising from the surface of the earth. This extra heat is causing global warming, and is changing the climate.
What are the harmful effects of CARS to your environment?
The harmful effects of CARS to our environment is the carbon monoxide
How is the UK damaging Antarctica's environment?
Burning fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas), as the UK does in transport, industry and the generation of electricity, releases age-old carbon dioxide which is causing global warming. This is melting the ice caps and glaciers of Antarctica, particularly in the West Antarctic Peninsula.
Can anything be done to prevent global climate change?
There are, in theory, several possible solutions to global climate change. Since climate change is, as far as we can determine, driven primarily by excess quantities of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, we can stop doing things (or do less of the things) which release carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. We could extract carbon dioxide from the air (which could be done by fractional distillation) and sequester it in some manner - possibly by some chemical synthesis process that would convert it into solid material, such as plastic. Alternatively we could try to reduce the amount of heat that arrives at the Earth's surface from the sun, either by placing reflective dust in the upper atmosphere, or by putting satellites in orbit which are designed to deflect sunlight or possibly to capture it for photoelectric power generation while simultaneously preventing it from reaching the Earth's surface. There may be other solutions as well, which some creative scientists might devise. The only problem with any of these solutions is that they are expensive. We can prevent climate change if we are willing to spend the money that it takes.
What is the negative impact of fossil fuels running out?
80% of world energy consumption is fossil fuel, nuclear energy use is limited by global trend againsting it. Biofuel and bioloical derived chemical is still on the beginning stage. Woodfire powerplant was largely against by NGO for air pollution (Thai example). Solarcell is high cost and only acceptable by cost of living in first world country. Wind energy is limited to small percent of this world. We had far gap to bridge renewable energy to present world. Fossil fuel depletion at current time would mean the collapse of civilization as we know it.
How does pure substances and mixtures affect the environment?
Chemical materials (pure or impure) can be pollutants for waters, soils and air.
How polluted is the Colorado River in the US?
The river is at risk from the Moab Uranium tailings which are in the process of being moved away from the river.
The film in the badges changes colour when radiation hits it. By looking at the badges, the people wearing them can tell how much radiation they have been exposed to.
They have different strips of film for different types of radiation, so they are not only able to tell how much radiation someone has been exposed to, but also what type of radiation.
Its basically a safety measure to ensure that workers are not exposed to excessive levels of radiation emitted from the waste.
What is hazardous waste proliferation?
hazardous waste proliferation is the rapid increasing of hazardous waste.
Describe 3 types of marine life and how they are affected by the increase of acidity in the oceans?
The decrease in our Oceans PH is too small (worst case 0.02) to be measurable by most equipment. Local PH changes can wipe out local life, but there is not a real affect on our Oceans (in total) from any perceived changes in PH.
Studies showing CO2 levels wildly high (over 1%) show the change would still be in the area of 0.6 overall. Pollution in localized areas is a far worse and real situation. This can cause massive changes in local PH levels. Shipping and human activities are to blame for these changes.
What are the benefits of gargling with salt water?
There is a natural tendency for a substance to move from a region of high concentration to a region of low concentration (see osmosis). This means that even water moves from its region of abundance to its region of shortage. Since salt water is more concentrated (less water) than the contents in your mouth (including any germs in there), when you gargle with it, it tends to draw water out of bacterial cells (which have more water in them). All cells are over 70% water and require water to function effectively and hence survive. If the salt water is concentrated enough, it will kill most germs in the mouth and some from the throat.
How much hardner do you put in auto paint?
Different paints require different amounts of hardener. If there is a label on the paint it should have the ratio on that. One part hardener to the about of paint you use will usually be enough. You can't store the paint after the hardener is in it, it will set up in the can. ----- In actuality a 1:1 mixing ratio of paint to hardener (catalyst) will usually result in brittle massively overcatalyzed paint that will flake and/or chip easily. However as previous stated different paints require different amounts of hardener, alway request a Product Data Sheet (PDS) or Technical Data Sheet (TDS) from the paint manufacturer or retrieve one from their website before mixing.
