Can 22 inch rims fit on a 1997 Grand Marquis?
Yes. You have to use the lowest profile tire and wheel available currently. I believe at this time you would want to go with a 22" wheel with a width of 8-8.5", and use a tire sized 245/30-22. The only company, to my knowledge, that has a tire available in this size is Pirelli. Good luck.
well that's not the only thing you can do cause I'm from FL and I seen all the way up to 26"s,you may want to thing about getting a lift on your car mainly upgrading your springs a 2" lift would be just right I have a 99 merc on 24"s deep dish, only got it lifted about 3.5" front 3" rear with no scrub no rub
How do you replace the struts on a 2000 Pontiac Montana?
The answer below mine here was obviously posted by someone who has never performed this job or works at Monroe shocks .
This job has to do with HOW to get to the nuts on top of the struts OFF BECAUSE YOU CAN'T GET YOur HAND OR SOCKET IN THAT SPACE THE AUTO WAS BUILT AROUND THE STRUTS . Now that you see this isnt a simple change out job like that answer below you know what you are up against.Next you need to take out the windshield wiper motor arms to get to those top strut nuts off with a 15 MM ratching box wrench if you have one. .
By the way before you put those new struts in this is a perfect time to change out those rear spark plugs that are inaccesable unless you drop the engine. Tilt the engine on its bracket while the struts are out of the way!!!
Now there is a hot tip because the last guy that did the tune up probably said it was done when it wasnt unless he charged $250 for the tune up and plug change and that one plug on the back right took most of the time!
Original fly by answer :
Track down Monroe quick strut assemblys, 2 part#-M45171661, it'll make the job easier, also its likely you will need front control arm bushings (get Moog #K6712) along with front sway bar links/bushings (any brand, and if local parts have poly buy them).
Book some days off, get some good 1/2" tapered end spud bars, 6 pt sockets, 3lb+ hammers.
-support vehicle off the ground, wheels off
-support control arm with jack
-remove the 2 nuts off lower end off strut assembly
-the bolts are splined and require intense hammering to remove, don't damage threads
-loosen the top 3 nuts of the struts
-swing old strut spring assembly out, make sure control arm doesn't exert pressure to pull axles out of transmission
-install Monroe Quik strut, oriented as old unit-2 person job, some reaming of top holes may be required, leave 3 nuts loose til bottom bolts in
- with strut top nuts tight & hub attached to lower strut, remove brakes calipers & supprt from springs(this is so some working room is available)
-loosen the ball joint bolt til nearly off, then loosen from control arm with a pickle fork
-loosen frnt & rear control arm bolts, remove sway bar links/bushings
-remove control arm from frame & likely front bushings rubber will fall out, otherwise melt or saw the rubber out, hack saw the old bushing flange till it can be bent out of control arm, install new bushing with flange as found, using old one to beat into place or large sockets
- reverse the effort leaving most bolts loose til hammmering is required, tighten to specs in hardware package or abouts

What size socket do you need for the axle nut on a 2003 Montana?
I just did mine. It required a 33mm socket.
Put a screwdriver through the hole in the caliper and into the cooling veins in the brake disk to prevent it from turning while loosening/tightening the axle nut.
I had the same probleme. Finally I had to push down again and turn counterclockwise again and Bingo I got it out ! Answer 1 is correct, but did not explain that the cap was NOT "jammed." In the "old" days, radiator caps could be removed with a single twist to the "open" position you mention. However, the pressure of the coolent in the radiator, would often "blow" the cap out of your hand, and scald your hand, arm, and possibly your face and other parts of the body. This was NOT good !!! For SAFETY, radiator cap manufacturers designed a "DETENT" lock into caps which allow you to loosen the cap just far enough to allow the hot pressurized coolant to flow through the "overflow" tube to the coolant recovery tank. When you turn the cap to that detent position, it CANNOT blow off, nor can you remove it. By design, to "override" the safety detent lock, AFTER there has been time for the presure to neutralize, you must FIRMLY press the cap down, and THEN CONTINUE to turn the cap another 10 to 20 degrees of rotation, in order to clear the safety lock tabs, and THEN lift the cap off of the radiator filler neck. Hope this helps many. j3h.
your engine fan is not pulling airflow over your condenser at idle or their may be a condenser fan not working check for airflow issue at idle that is the cause of your problem make sure condenser and radiator clean. Many auto cooling/heating systems use a "blend door" which mixes both hot and cold air to provide air at the temperature selected with the temperature control. When the temp control is in the full cold position, the blend door moves to a position which allows only cold air to pass into the cabin/passenger compartment. That blend door is generally operated with engine primary [unmodified intake manifold pressure] vacuum. IF there is a leak in the primary vacuum line system, then at low engine RPM the leak may bleed off the vacuum necessary to hold the door in the cooling position. Then when driving, the vacuum will be much higher, "over riding" the leak, and allow the vacuum motor, which operates the blend door, to hold the door in the proper position and provide only cold air to the cabin/passenger compartment.
What would cause a serpentine belt to come off?
Many things can cause a serpentine belt to come off. Most likely, it slipped off, or the tensonier that holds it in place was not tight enough.

How do you remove the overhead console on a 2000 Pontiac Montana?
There are 4 Phillips head screws. One that you can see at the front leading edge. The other three are hidden in the storage cubbys of the console. Just open the doors and look with a flash light...you will see them. The console is very light and will hang by the switch wires when you unscrew it.
How do you remove the condenser in 2001 Silhouette?
The condensor is attached to the front of the radiator. 1. Make sure your A/C system is discharged. Remove the cross braces, water overflow tank, Remove the Battery and tray.
2. Remove the front lower air dam. Drain the water coolant and disconnect the upper and lower radiator hoses from the radiator.
3. Disconnect the transmission lines from the radiator, front right side. They have a plastic collar that slides off the connection, then a release "c" clip that can be carefully pulled out with a scribe. Pull the line out of radiator. Have a catch pan to collect oil
4. Disconnect the A/C lines at the front left side of the engine compartment. Make sure you support both sides of the mount when breaking the torque. I found removing the air filter and box necessary.
5. remove the cooling fan assy.
6 Remove the radiator/condensor assy. The condensor will have a receiver/dryer attached the driver side, it should come with your new condensor. It must be changed when ever you open the A/C system. If you don't have it, buy a Haines manual from any parts store. I found my condensor for $139, most places wante $160 to 300. Good luck. I also suggest to have the coolant system flushed and replaced with regular antifreeze. The Dexcool will allow internal engine corrosion. Go figure.
How do you replace the thermostat located on a 2000 Pontiac Montana?
I just did it tonight. on my 2000 MT, remove the air cleaner tube, throttle body, the thermostat is just below the throttle body in the aluminum cast housing. two bolts to remove, one was easy the other was a real $%&^!!. It is behind the exhaust cross over tube. Good luck. Took me about 2 hours. TIP - use WD-40 on the air cleaner tubing to get it to go back on the Throttle body. Another persons comments.
From the beginning of automotive design way before the Model T, items that need frequent service must be easily reached for replacement. The position of the Montana and Venture thermostat just violates every rule in design. If you could remove the screws to the casting over the thermostat, on my van there is not enough room to remove the part. This is not the only part like this under the hood of the van. Try the hoses to the heater core tubes.
Most all manuals say "remove the exaust crossover" which is made impossible by a heat shield that has bolts in the back that can not be seen or easily accessed. Oh, there is also a metal water pipe to the heater across the area that keeps the heat shield over the crossover from coming up if you could get it loose. The metal pipe has some brackets and you have to bend it to get out of the way once it is detached from hoses. If the shield comes up then you can access the three stud bolts that attach the crossover to the front manifold. Then there is the intake to the throttle body that probably needs to be removed to get good access. The thermostat also sits facing out where gravity wants to let it drop out while you try to put the casting back on the intake. It goes on and on. I see why this is a 4 hour job for the GM service folks, just for a thermostat!
I have yet to figure out how to replace the thermostat short of cutting out the front section of the heat shield over the crossover pipe.
