It's actually pretty easy:

1) Always disconnect the negative batt. terminal before doing electrical work. An 8mm socket should do the trick.

2) Open both the driver and the passenger door, the cover marked "Fuse" on either end of the dash board must be removed. They may be a little difficult to pull off, but pull away from the hood, and towards the door at the same time and they'll eventually come out.

3) Under the steering wheel and in front of the brake pedal you'll see a black "kickplate" or cover with two plastic tabs towards the steering wheel side, push both of those tabs and allow the kickplate to drop down.

4) With the kickplate out of the way you might be seeing screws that were previously hidden, unscrew them. Where you previously removed the fuse covers there should be another small screw that was previously hidden, holding the dashboard in place. Undo them on both the driver's and passenger's side. Finally, in front of the instrument cluster, on the top, there are two more small screws, undo them as well.

5) Under the steering wheel there is a plastic piece with the trunk release button on it, gently pull this piece STRAIGHT out. Once it releases, undo the connection for the trunk release and put the plastic piece aside.

6) Found any more hidden screws after removing that last part??? Undo those as well.

7) Starting on the driver's side, gently pry the dashboard facia straight back from the front of the car. You will have to "massage" the plastic away from the top of the instrument cluster (where the traction control and hazard light switch are). As you work your way towards the passenger side, the bezel around the ignition will pop out, that's okay! Just don't lose that piece. Very carefully disconnect both the hazard and traction quick releases (a small bladed screwdriver works best).

8) With the dashboard facia pulled off you should now see 3 screws holding the factory radio in place. Undo those and gently remove the radio. There are three cords entering the back of the radio, the grey one is the antenna, pull it straight out. The other two are the factory harness, they are VERY tough to get out. Push down on the tab to release the harness plug and pull straight back. You may need a flathead screwdriver to help push the harness plug out of the back of the radio.

you have to putt the dash apart starting with the shifter knob, have fun.

The volume regulator has been wore off. There is not much you can do. You can change the regulator if you have some experience working with a soldering gun. You can use one of your friends help if they have such experience or you can replace the radio.

I had this exact problem on my 1996 Taurus. The solution in my case was to replace the transmission range sensor. I replaced it myself. It was easy to change. I can't say if that is what is wrong with your Taurus, but it was what was wrong with mine. Good Luck!

Easy Listening WPAT 93 AM ( Paterson NJ) comes the closest. they now air mainly Spanish Music. In the sixties and seventies they ran mainly nonstop instrumental cuts and light classics, seldom giving credit to the bands involved. they were Easy Listening with almost a Sominex accent, very sleep inducing. There is both an AM and FM WPAT which is pronounced- W-Pee- Ayty-Tee, never W- PAT like the nickname for Patrick!

If you are referring to the radio security code - - - First: Check the owner's manual. If you're lucky, sometimes the dealer or former owner will have written down the security code number somewhere in the manual (inside the front cover or on the page that describes the radio operation are favorite places). Also check the interior of the glove compartment - sometimes the dealer will affix a sticker containing the radios serial number, and/or security code, there. IF NOT: You will need to retrieve the radio's SERIAL NUMBER. On SOME radios you can do this by holding down both the number 1 and the number 6 buttons simultaneously as you turn on the radio. If you have one of those radios, the serial number of the radio will appear in the tuning window when you turn it on. IF NOT: You will need to loosen the radio and slide it far enough out of the dashboard in order to read the serial number off the plate that is affixed either on the back, or the bottom of the radio case. When you have gotten the serial number - either call the Honda Customer Service 800 number, or stop by your local Honda dealer and give them the serial number and they should be able to give you the anti-theft security code for your radio. WRITE IT DOWN SOMEWHERE WHERE YOU WON"T FORGET IT! This will happen every time the battery is disconnected or goes dead.

Here is your solution:

Purchase a Scosche harness kit #FDK2b, which supplies the rectangular connector for power, ground, etc.; a square connector for the 8-pin speaker/amp connections; and a double-ended AMP BY-PASS connector. You have to have this connector (also sold separately as fd07b) to properly by-pass the factory amp, which will redirect the speaker connections from the 8-pin speaker/amp connector direct to the factory speaker wiring in the doors.

I would recommend using these harnesses 1) if you are planning on re-installing the factory radio prior to selling the vehicle, or 2) if you do not want to take the time to re-wire for speakers.

Re-wiring for speakers is the BEST method; however, I have installed in these vehicles more than once, and it is very tedious and time-consuming work to properly route quality cables through under-carpet channels, door sills, factory cable routes, and door harnesses. Seriously, unless you are installing a kick-butt system with multiple amps, subs, and dozens of speakers, it is not worth the effort.

If you are simply replacing a defective head unit, or upgrading to a "better" head unit, use the harnesses I've listed above, and your installation will take about 30-minutes.

Pre-connect the rectangular and 8-pin harnesses to your replacement head unit's wiring, remove the factory head unit using Ford Radio removal tools (available at most auto parts stores, Wal-mart, online, and Scosche also has a universal radio removal kit), disconnect the two harness connectors and antenna connection, and install your new unit according to the manufacturer's instructions.

To by-pass the amp, locate the right-rear fender panel located in the cargo compartment on the right side of the vehicle). It is best to do this from inside the cargo area. Lift the carpet and locate and remove the two screws which secure the plastic fender panel to the floor, gently remove the panel by popping the plastic anchors (careful not to damage them) which secure the panel to the side of the body. Pull the panel back enough to reach the amp (there is no need to fully remove the panel), disconnect the two connections to the amp, and connect the jumper harness between the two connections you just removed. Re-assemble the interior panel and you're done!

The entire process should take 30-60 minutes.
