What does it mean if your manual transmission on a 1993 Saturn is stuck in second gear?
you could either have a bad syncranizer or the throw out bearing is up
What weight oil does a 1999 Saturn SL 22 take?
The oil viscosity is more dependent on the condition of the engine than on the year or model.
A new engine, in perfect condition with absolutely NO wear on the rod/main bearings calls for 5W15 oil.
As the engine wears a little and the space between the bearing and the crankshaft opens up, you should use an oil that maintains the oil pressure.
At first, switch to a 10W30, and if that doesn't keep the oil pressure up, change to a 15W40.
But once an engine has been down the road a good distance, it's time to change to a higher viscosity.
Note too, an engine that has been properly maintained and has not been abused will also not wear as fast. I've seen a Saturn with 160K miles that still used 5W15 oil, and I've seen vehicles with 50K miles that have had to use 15W40. There are too many variables to make a blanket statement about what oil viscosity you should use in your engine.
Simple rule: If the oil pressure drops significantly when the engine is hot and at an idle, change to a higher viscosity. A little drop is okay though, just so long as it doesn't drop more than half way down the gauge.
Your 1998 Saturn sc1 gets stuck in park and will not shift to drive how do you fix this?
Check your shifter cable. Be sure the it is properly conncected at the tranny. Also if parked on a hill and the emergency brake was not set, it may need a little bit of force to pull the level out of park.
Remember the shifter will not move unless the brake is applied.
Where is odometer cable located on 1993 Saturn SL-2?
As I discovered this morning, the odometer on the 93 SL2 is actually electric, thus explaining why the speedometer continues to work while the odometer does not. My daughter found a 93 SL2 for sale and when I spoke to the owner last night he stated the odometer quit working after he took his after market stereo out and installed the factory radio for the impending sale. My research this morning suggests everything from a fuse in the fuse box on the passenger side of the console to a possible broken wire to an issue with the entire instrument cluster. Repair costs for the people with similar problems ranged from $450 to $800 dollars. When I go look at the car today if I do not find a bad fuse we will be passing on the car. Good luck.

Temperature Gauge Sending Unit The sending unit is located in the front section of the intake manifold in the vicinity of the thermostat.
What causes a 2000 Saturn sl1 to shift hard when put in reverse?
It's either the transmission valve body or the nut on the input shaft (?) has come loose. My car was doing the same thing and it was the loose nut.
Do you put snow chains on the front and rear tires for a 2001 Saturn?
tire chains go on the drive wheels but it is best to chain all 4 tires if in extreme weather be sure to check with local authorities about chain regulations not all places allow tire chains by the way i drive for a living in British Columbia Canada and we chain all winter here
Saturn does not recommend snow chains for any of there vehicles. I currently have 2 95 wagons and an 04 VUE My kids drive the wagons and I put 4 deep lug snow tires on them when they are at college in upstate New York. They have yet to get stuck. Hope this answers your question.
How to change egr valve on a 1999 Saturn?
EGR valves are located on top of the engine near the air intake (the big black hose that comes from the air cleaner box). They usually have a few wires and a couple bolts holding them. With a few tools it's pretty easy. The tough part will be the cost for the replacement.

How do you know if a Centurion pool pump that has stopped working needs a repair or replacement?
We knew by the high pitched whining sound ours was making that a bearing was worn out. When it stopped working all together, we found that it was cheaper/more economical for us to simply replace the pump. We even did it ourselves. The old one was unclamped and the new one was clamped back in its place. Flip the switch and it was running. No service calls.
Where is theCollant sensor 99 Saturn sl1?
Although I specialize only in air conditioning, I recently had the experience of having to address this issue. The coolant sensor on this vehicle is located on the driver's side of the engine block, just below the head. If you are standing in front of the vehicle looking at the engine, it is just to the right of the center of the car above the transmission. It is a very small, single wire plug and, as I learned, corrosion build-up, which is apparently very common on this sensor, will cause a number of fault symptoms, including rough idling and hard-start. Good luck.
That ACTUALLY means that you probably didn't need to replace the timing chain in the first place.
If you did it yourself, did you replace the tensioning rails? Check to see if they're worn.
Note that one of the tensioning rails connects to a piston actuated tensioner assembly; if it isn't functioning properly the timing chain tension will not be maintained.
Also, if the engine has low oil pressure, the tensioner will not function properly and you may end up with a loose timing chain.
What can a bad thermostat cause in a Saturn sl2?
If it sticks OPEN, the engine will never warm up properly, you'll get poor economy and the heater will never warm the vehicle.
If it sticks CLOSED the engine will overheat, possibly causing damage. If the engine gets hot enough the head will warp and you'll need to have the engine disassembled, the head will need to be resurfaced and you'll need to reassemble the engine using a new head gasket.
If your saying it dies and won't start for an hour or so then its might be your crankshaft positioning sensor. its what was wrong with mine.
How do you replace headliner in Saturn sc?

How long does timing chain last in Saturn l200?
The V6 L series engine uses a timing belt, which must be replaced every 100,000 miles.
The 4 cylinder Saturn engines use a timing chain that typically does not need replacement until you have a reason to remove the cylinder head.
What is a tune up on a 1999 Saturn SL?
Generally a minor tune up will involve plugs, wires, PCV valve and checking for codes and replacing the fuel filter.
A major tune up will also include replacing/reconditioning the injectors. Injectors can only be reconditioned by a specialty shop, and can only be performed with the injectors OUT of the vehicle.
How do you change a 2001 Honda Civic lower front control arm bushing?
You have to remove the control arm, which is fairly simple if you have the right tools and know how to use them. When you do something involving the suspension or steering you must do it right. There's four connections - the ball joint, the connector to the stabilizer bar, and the two large bolts that connect to the frame. Once the arm is removed the old bushing has to be pressed out a new one put in, which a machine shop can do.
How do you install a Saturn roof rack?
I recently installed roof rack on my Saturn. It was a Saturn vue but all I did was call a dealership and ask if they had in stock, they did. So, I set up an appointment for install and when I got there I said I didn't want to pay for a two hour install if I could just do it myself. I asked if I could see the instructions included with the roof rack and they said yes. I took a look at the instructions and just like that I had instructions for installing my roof rack. A little tip, dealership mechanics don't know much more about specifics than you do, they open the box and follow the instructions just like anyone esle would! I saved a two hour install fee of $180! How do you get a Seat belt on a 93 Saturn sl seat belt will not go back?
Saturn used to sell a substitute hook for the automated seatbelts. The car came with one too. It's small metal & you put it into the spot where the seatbelt used stop in. then you can hook the cloth belt into & drive the car. I'd also pull the fuse on the automated belts so that doesn't drain the battery trying to get it back into place after the car is off (it keeps trying). They had 32 left when I bought mine 2 years ago. So, if they don't have one, look on ebay.
