When trying to diagnose which spark is misfiring, it is important to know the engine firing order of a car. The 1999 Lincoln Continental firing order is 1 - 3 - 7 - 2 - 6 - 5 - 4 - 8.

Not if all you are doing is replacing the rotor and/or distributor cap. If you are trying to find the correct way to wire the spark plugs then yes it is very important.

Ford six cylinder engine it is :

( 1 - 5 - 3 - 6 - 2 - 4 )

on the camshaft pulley there are six notches located on the inside lip closest to the block. there is a 2in pin at the 1 o'clock position when viewed from the front. each notch is a certain degree I have yet to verify.

The firing order is ( 1 - 4 - 2 - 5 - 3 - 6 )
