The Coast Guard will respond if there is eminent danger to persons or the vessel. If there is eminent danger they will take the persons off the vessel if possible or have them airlifted.
They will not attempt to pull the vessel off unless it is clear that it will float free. This is because they may further damage the vessel or put their own vessel and themselves in danger. If the vessel is hard aground or up on the rocks they will most likely tell you to wait for the next high tide, and call a towing company or salvage company. This may cost you a lot unless you have one of the subscription towing services.

Hi, I looked this up for you on CarFax. This 1997 Honda Civic EX has no accident or damage report - but remember, they may just not have reported it, it doesn't mean there were no accidents! There were SEVEN previous owners. There is only ONE service record available. It FAILED the emission inspection in Colorado Springs, CO on 06/11/2004 when the odometer was at only 58,307. Changed owners and failed another Colorado emissions inspection on 10/17/2005 with odometer at 72,530. Don't forget, CARFAX does not check for stolen vehicles!!! None of their guarantees covers that! My car was stolen this past Sunday and I typed the VIN into CARFAX - the car comes up as a recommended one-owner car and guaranteed! They are helping crooks sell my stolen car! When I wrote to them about this, they were not at all sympathetic. I think their service should include a stolen car check.
Anyway, this Civic EX doesn't sound very good from the report...I hope you find a car that was taken care of even if it has some miles on it. Good luck!

Do you think it's right to join government armed forces?
Exactly what force, your country's military or some form of national guard? If you are a U.S. citizen, I would advise against doing so--you have an extremely high probability of being sent to Iraq and you may have to stay much longer than what you are notified by any recruiter. Some units have served two yearlong tours, and some even three. There are fears some units will do fourth and fifth yearlong tours in 2007-2008. This has serious effects on a person's physical and emotional strength and overall morale. Really think about this before you enlist. I had a father who served in Korea and some of the experiences he witnessed never left him. If you need the money for college, look into scholarships or grants. If you are in another country that isn't involved in a war, what would your obligations of service be? Where would be required to serve? What financial/educational incentives would you receive? Are you ready to serve for 2-5 years or not? My 2 cents....
This is definitely an opinion question, and I'm not shy about sharing mine. I think that if you feel any type of love for your country and feel that you can make a contribution to national defense, you should consider serving. As a veteran of the United States Army with a 17 year old son I still feel that service in the military can be a profoundly maturing experience. I will encourage him in all that he does, whether or not he decides to serve in the military.
In my opinion, to place more import on what you will get out of it financially than what the benefit to the nation will be is very small minded. Joining the military of your nation is definitely a personal decision (unless your country uses conscription). Think long and hard, but think about the big picture.

Not far at all. I've talked to MANY ex-military veterans -- the opinion I've come to form over the years is that failure in Vietnam primarily is due to flawed politics and unclear directions given to commanders at the highest levels.
I'm not naive though. There are certainly more than their fair share of purely military failures at virtually all levels. But it is my belief that failure in Vietnam was due primarily to the politicians.
