This lamp is "engine electronics" warning.The "ECU",(electronic control unit)is detecting a fault,either with an engine component or the sensor monitoring it. As you say you have a running problem,then you probably have a component fault rather than just a sensor problem.I suggest having it into a vauxhall dealer,they can usually pinpoint the problem straight away using their diagnostic computer to interogate your car's ecu,where the fault will be logged.It is possible to do it yourself,but the cost of guesswork purchases of sensors and components can be way above letting the garage do it.Geoff.

If it is a Mk5 (which are prone to blowing the fuse!).

Open the bonnet.

To the right of the battery (as you look at it) is a black plastic box. About 12" by 8".

Use a flat-bladed screwdriver with a blade about 5mm wide (the one that comes in the vehicle tool-kit is ideal) to release the lid of the box. Insert the screwdriver in the middle of the clip (top and bottom next to the battery) and rotate slightly while pulling up on the lid. Repeat for the other clip, and then lift the left of the box lid to the right, it's hinged on the right. Lift the lid out of the way.

There are several rows of fuses. Right at the bottom of the fuse box, closest to the font bumper are two fuses on their own, right next to each other.

One is Red. This is the one for the pump. On some cars it's on the left, on others on the right. The other one is (If I remember Blue) not red.

If it is not a Mk5, these instructions are of no relevance.

This happened to me 2 months ago on my Astra. New clutch! Unfortuantely it means clutch plate is knackered. replace it whilat the car is still driveable or it'll go on you at the worst possible time!

The tickover is not adjustable. It's electronically controlled, and factory set.

Need to get it up on car ramps first.Then under car is a full width dirt shield,find the access panel held on with about six large captive snap fasteners. Remove this and sump plug should be revealed.It's usually a large torx head plug,about t45 I think.Replaceable "o"ring on plug too.Then procede as normal. Always change the filter at the same time,use a good semi-synthetic oil.I use Millers 10w-40.

There is I believe a cluster of relays above the glove box.The indicator unit is among these.You need to unscrew the glove box for access.

Okay, don't know how old this question is but anyway... Get down on your hands and knees, or back is best and look under the front of the vehicle. You should see the sump and the base of the engine. There are two small bolts easily identfiable, theough they are close to flush woith the base of the engine. The front one is the oil sump. The one approx 20cm further back is the transmission oil sump. The oil sump usually requires a special tool, a modified L-key tool, while the transmission opens with a size 10 metric L-key. Know if i could just find where i can buy this specialist tool to open the oil sump I would be able to finish the job I strated 2 hours ago. Arrivederche, Marc

It could either be the A/C switch (if it's located near the fan controls), or it could be the button to set the gearbox (automatic) for "winter" conditions (starts off in second gear, and changes gears earlier to prevent wheelspin). on my Scorpio I had a Snowflake Light that came on to warn of icy conditions on the road it activated when the outside temprator dropped below 3 degrees By pressing it it engages third gear on an automatic to allow the car to be controlled better in icy weather.

They continued as more or less independent entities until the 1980s when their activities and models were merged, but the names continued in their respective countries.

Probably not very fast or up a hill...plus that's a lot of stress on your engine.

Try turning it with long nose pliers

it depends on the age of the vehicle.

Older ones have hydraulic PAS. The fault could be in the pump, the Rack, a leak, or as simple as a low fluid level.

More recent Corsa's have an electric system (you will see a light on the dash "ESP" for Electric Power Steering when starting the engine.)

If you see this light when starting or driving, the fault is in the steering column or control unit, and is not uncommon.

If my memory serves me correctly, and the clutch is a hydraulic verson, then normally they top up through the brake master cylinder reservoir

no surprise there that you cant find it im reliably told by haynes that this because it in the petrol version handbook more money eh.

Turn they key over so you are looking at the side without the buttons on.

Near the blade of the key is a Small slot. Put a small screwdriver (that is about the same width as the slot) into the slot and gently turn it. The Electrics part of the key (the Fob) should pop-out. Pull it out the rest of the way by hand.

The fob opens up, "clam shell" style, by releasing one clip on the side (the other side has two clips, this is the "hinge" side.)

The battery is retained in the back of the fob (the bit without the buttons on.)

Remove the battery and fit a new one (A CR2032, Vauxhall part number 90541381) paying attention to the way up the old one was.

Re-assembly is the reverse of removal, but the fob will only fit into the key one way round.

Once the battery has been replaced it may be required to "reset" the locking/alarm system on the car. To do this put the key in the ignition, turn the key till all the dash warning lights come on, and press the "open" button. The car locks should lock and instantly unlock to show it has worked.

Alternatively call in at your local dealer, ask & pay for a new battery and ask to have it fitted for you. I fit them for free. :)

i get a wee car on a bendy road light,what is it? This is Traction Control Light, to do with the Braking system,

Excessive wear, or lack of oil.

Or both.

Generally lack of oil is what causes the excessive wear.

Hi I dont really understand the 1951 plate but I have a Astra 1998 station wagon 2.0l that may have the same prob.There is a yellow light which looks like an engine with a z in the middle.This is between the oil and batt warning light.The car still runs fine but a bit worried when this comes on as I dont Know what it means.

Same problem vectra heater only blowing cold checked water coolant and it was empty. Topped up now blowing hot just hope I not got head gasket probe

Behind the glove box.

You need the following tools: Rear-view mirror, installation kit, screwdriver, a glass cleaner, razor blade, and crayon. One is required to wear the safety gear gloves and glasses. Mark the old mirror mount using the crayon and remove it using a razor then mount the new mirror on the same position.
