What 95 850 Volvo parts are interchangeable with the 93 Volvo 940?
Not too many. Some light bulbs are interchangeable, the door lock motors are too, and probably some seat pieces; if you worked hard to find a way to fit it, the stereo is probably interchangeable as well. The body parts require heavy modification to swap them, it's usually not worth the hassle, and the engine would, probably, also require heavy modification to fit. These two cars have very different bodies, and drive trains. There will not be a plethora of interchangeable pieces.
Hazard signals not working and turn signals not flashing in '99-00 Volvo S70's. How to fix?
The turn signals operate through the Hazard switch. The Hazard switch assembly is in the radio console inside the car and must be replaced. This unit is about $90 CDN and can be purchased from the dealership. I replaced mine by pulling out (Carefully!) the radio console (the owners manual will show you how to do this). After that, you: Push the old Hazard Switch out from the rear of the radio console. Unplug the wire at the end of the broken Hazard switch. Plug the wire into the new Hazard switch. Push the Hazard switch back into the radio console and slide the radio console back in place. It takes 2 minutes if you get someone to hold the radio unit while you change the switch. Good luck!

What is the anti theft radio code for an 1993 Volvo glt?
Each radio system has its own particular anti theft code. It is on a card, the size of a credit card, and should be in the folder with your owner's manual. If you cannot find the card, your local Volvo dealer can research the code for you.
Open the hood and you'll find it in the back, right behind the steering wheel. You'll have to remove the protective covering. Also, you can get at the other end of the fuse assembly by removing the part of the interior dash above the driver's legs.
1995 Volvo 850 how do you open the gas door?
I'm assuming that the door is stuck because the locking motor died, i had the same problem. When it first started dying i snapped the latch on the fuel door off so it wouldn't get stuck. but i think there is a manual release, i have a wagon and on that same side of the fuel door in the car under the carpet ( if you have a wagon its under the right side under the panel next to the spare tire and further back i believe there is a little wire ring and if pull it i think it is a manual release but not positive.

What is the gas mileage for a 1995 Volvo 850?
My 1994 (same as 1995) Volvo 850 with non turbo engine and automatic transmission gets about 11.0 L/100km in the city and about 9.5 L/100 km on the highway but those numbers are highly dependent on temperature and tires, not to mention my driving habits. But for budgeting purposes I use those numbers. My 1998 V70 with non turbo and 5sp actually does worse in the city, about 12.0 L/100 km but better on the highway at 7.8 L/100km. Once again this is highly variable.
Mine, 94' 850 t5, says about 19 miles per Galon city/hwy, it use to be 21.
This has happen to me on my 1997 850. It happen once when I tried to max it out (at around 120mph) and then once on the city streets. When I checked the engine, there was almost no oil. Check you oil level because a)you drive a Volvo so they are know to leak and b) that's a very likely cause
Remote key fob does not unlock your doors on a 97 Volvo 850?
there is some trick like turning key on and off (just to power, not engine on) three times and than pushing the unlock button on the fob, that should reprogram it. also, i have to press and hold mine for 1 second, then the door unlocks when i release - NOT while its pushed down.
Some additional info:
* Programming the 1997 Volvo 850 remote is explained in detail in the 850 user manual.
* Basically turn the key from position I (off) to position II (on) [not start position III]
5 times in 30 seconds. Then push a button on the remote. This should allow the
car to recognize the remote.
* On my remote I needed to clean the contacts to get BOTH lock and unlock to work.
My remote would lock but not unlock. Take remote apart and clean contacts.
Hope this helps.

anti pollution system warning ! Not critical at all .
Where is the starter on a Volvo 850?
The starter motor is attached to the front of the engine block towards the bottom, next to where the engine and transmission are mated. The starter and solenoid look like two cylinders, and come together as a single assembly. Looking into the engine from above, you can usually only see the solenoid, since the intake manifold is in the way. The solenoid has a black plastic cover which just pops off.
A couple tips for finding it: The starter is on the engine block underneath the intake manifold between the two dipsticks (engine oil and transmission fluid). You can also follow the thick red battery cable from the positive terminal of the battery, which attaches to the solenoid. (This last tip is a good way to find the starter on any car)
Always disconnect the battery before working on the electrical system. To replace the starter, you will need to first remove the intake air ducting (just snaps in and out) and the engine fan (4 screws (8 and 10 mm) near the top of the radiator then it just lifts out). The starter is connected to the engine with 2 screws (13 or 14mm) at the transmission housing, and one screw (12 mm?) at the other end of the starter that attaches a mounting bracket to the engine block.
Why does heater blower work intermittently on 1994 Volvo 850 Turbo?
The Volvo's use an ignition switch that feeds power directly to the accessories. Probably wear is causing an intermittent connection. We own 3 Volvo cars right now, and all 3 have had the same issue. For the 740's, it's a pain in the butt to replace. The 850 is a 15 minute job. Pull the black plastic bezel from under the steering wheel, 4 Torx T-15 screws, and switch is right there. Switch is $60-$75 depending where you find it. FCPGroton or IPD are your best bet. Good Luck- PRM
