A flashing arrow pointing up on the instrument panel on my 850t5 what does this mean?
If the transmission is not in a lower gear than "drive" when the arrow flashes, or your transmission is not set for "winter driving mode", you could be experiencing a PNP switch going bad. The PNP is a switch that sits on top of the transmission near the shift linkage. It's a pain to to istall and costs about $120 most places.

What would happen to your car if the heated oxygen sensor goes on a Volvo 850?
The oxygen sensor is used to infer the rich/lean mixture of the engine. Without a signal from the sensor the computer will default to a general mixture to allow the engine to run. Overall I'd expect strong smelling exhaust, loss of power, poor fuel economy, and the service light to be on.
You can troubleshoot the oxygen sensors easily with a digital volt meter. These sensors have either 1 or 3 leads. For single lead sensors connect a digital volt meter to the single lead, leaving it in the circuit, don't unplug it, or cobble a connection so it stays in the circuit with the car. Measure between the sensor and ground on a 1 volt scale. You should see this value vary between about .2 and .8 volts on about a 1 second interval. This only is applicable if the engine is fully warm!
The 3 wire sensors have a heater built in to get them to operating temp. sooner, thus you need to find the sensor lead from the heater lead. Obviously the heater lead is either ground or 12 volts, so the remaining lead is the sensor.

Where is the ac unit located on a 1995 Volvo 850 turbo?
If you are referring to the air conditioning. Unit then it has many parts in different locations. the compressor is located on the passenger side of the engine. If you stand at the passenger fender it will be just under the power steering pump. The condenser is located in front of the radiator at the grill of the car the condenser is inside the duct work inside the car and is the hardest to replace. To get to the condenser you must remove the entire dash. Lastly if you are looking for the service port to put in freon it is on the passenger fender close to the windshield washer fluid jug.
Most likely you are burning antifreeze. This could be cause by a leaking head gasket or an intake manifold gasket. This condition needs to be corrected quickly, as it could lead to catastrophic engine failure.

I recently put a CD player in my Volvo 940 myself and I'm a 50-yr-old woman so if I can do it so can you. The problem is, I'm trying to remember how I did it. I got the CD player from Crutchfield and they send along a kit and directions of how to install it, in any type of car you specify.
It seems like I had to take out the ashtray underneath the radio first and maybe I got to the screws from there. It's also possible that there were no screws but just clips and it pulled out once you disengage the clips.
I do also remember that in this model car there is some kind of speaker amp under the steering column that also had to be hooked up with the CD player.
******************************************
New ....There is a clip you can reach by removing the buttons out and slide a small screwdriver into the left side (in left button shaft) and into the right side (in right button shaft). These clips have a slot where the screwdriver can be slide in and move sideway towards the shaft. There are no screws to remove and is no need to remove anything else.
There are release clips behind the knobs of the volume and tuning. Just pull of the knobs and the clips will be toward the outside of the radio. pull them in towards the center and then the radio will slide out. The easiest way to pull the hooks is with two straightened coat hangars with little hooks on the end.
after you take out the radio you need to get an amp bypass lead take off the cover under the steering wheel look on top of the steering column and a small box this is you amp pull the lead from the amp leave the amp were it is ,now the lead you have taken off the amp push this into plug found on the long part of the amp bypass lead now you now have still two plugs on the bypass lead push this into the side were the radio is and pull the two plug out were the radio should be now connect the plugs from your new radio to the two plugs on the amp bypass lead fix it all up and enjoy , i have the Volvo 940 SE turbo.

850 Volvo will not crank at all?
Answering my own question here. After reading other info concerning the non-corrosion goop put on the terminals, I cleaned them off and the car fired right up, now I just need to get the code for the radio. 1. check to make sure you have enough battery power to crank engine. Turn lights on to bright then blow horn. If bright lights turn on and horn blows loud the battery is good. 2. check fuse box to see if there are any blown fuse, replace them with correct value. turn ignition key to on position if the dash lights do not light up the ignition switch may be bad. 3. make sure battery connection to the starter is good, if good check starter. jump starter directly. if starter does not turn then either starter may be bad or the engine may be locked up (seized up). 4. take a wrench and place on crank shaft bolt and turn engine. If engine will not turn you have engine problems. If engine turns then it is most likely the starter. remove starter and jump starter, it should spin. if not take to auto shop for them to est and most likely buy another starter. JQ

How do you replace the thermostat located on a 1992 Toyota Camry 6 cylinder?
The stat is located at the bottom of the top radiator hose within the water outlet. Evenly remove the 2-3 bolts holding the water outlet in place. Coolant will drain into a container you have placed underneath. No need to drain it down any lower than imeadiately below the stat opening. Look at the way the stat sits in place prior to removing it. Once you remove the stat, clean off any gasket residue. ( O-rings need no sealant if that is what you have)Install new stat in the same way old one was removed. If there was a gasket,( vs a O-ring) install a new one with gasket sealer of your choice. Tighnen bolts evenly and snugly but do not overtighten. Make sure the housing is going down evenly so you do not crack the housing. Fill with coolant and leave the rad cap off for 15 minutes to top off coolant and bleed off the air in system. Done. I hope this helps you. Mark
