Where are the fuse panels located in 1985 VW Cabriolet?

On a 1986 Cabriolet, the fuse panel is located on the firewall in front of the driver's left knee under the dash. The 1986 and 1985 are almost identical in all respects, so that is where it should be on a 1985.

How can you open the trunk of a 1992 Toyota Camry when the lock became stuck in the open horizontal position when the key was turned with the trunk lid open?

It appears that you turned the lock counterclockwise instead of clockwise . If the lock is set in the horizontal alignment, it is probably set for valet or parking theft protection. Using the master key-not the valet key-try to jiggle the master key in the lock turning it clockwise. Keep trying, perhaps some graphite dust might help lube the key chamber. The trunk lid opener lever next to the driver seat will not work in the horizontal key lock mode to prevent thief by valets or by vandals when street parking. Keep trying, but do not force, it will eventually move to the right-clockwise. Your factory car manual will explain more in detail. Toyotas and Lexus have the same locking schemes for the trunk lid and glove box. Don H.

You have the same problem how do you fix it the convertible top on my 97 jaguar xk8 will not shut how can i fix it will not latch and i hear no sound from the top?

You need to manual override. Mine has done this before. It is in the handbook. In the trunk on the right side remove panel and you will see the pump , on it is an Allen key. Just above the Allen key you will see a valve turn it about 3 turns. this is a pressure release valve. take the Allen key into the cab and pop off the little round cap above the rear view mirror. Insert the Allen key and latch the top. then go back to the trunk turn the pressure release key back to normal position. Good luck

Where is the radiator fan switch located neither fan is blowing and before you go to the vw dealer you would like to fix this problem myself you have checked all the fuses in the fuse box and all are?

there is a fan control relay under the dashboard with the other relays check that then check the temperature contreol module theat is located in the engine compartment On my '99 Jetta (late 98 manuf. date) there is a 2 speed sensor/sender on the lower part of the radiator, facing the driver. It's on the tube at the end of the radiator. The fan motor has three leads, an orange, which should be hot, and is monitored by a 40 amp fuse located either on top of the battery, or with the fuse modules/relays under the dash. (according to the book, I still can't find mine, it may be NEXT to the battery. The negative must be thru the chassis, so it would be a good idea if, at temperature, with two hots going to the motor, look for a shorted ground. If one of the hots isn't, then the sensor or 40 amp is bad. After those are ruled out, it's the motor.

Where is the Thermostatic Air cleaner on an 1989 VW cabriolet?

There is only one air cleaner, aka air filter, on 1980-1993 Cabriolets. It is located in the air box, which is directly below the fuel distributor; the entire assembly is behind the battery. There are four metal clips that mate the fuel distributor housing to the air box.

Where should you look for an electrical problem with the headlights?

Check for frayed or burnt wires ... that's what it sounds like. Follow the wires from your lights to the CPU or battery on the car and if there is no bad wires, it could be a fuse problem.

A good first place to start would be checking the plug, since plugs can be replaced the cheapest.

A common failure on Dodge Dakotas is the headlight switch - about $20 at a discount auto parts store and pretty easy to replace

Also be sure the bulbs are good.

Where is the horn relay located in the fuse box on a 1992 VW cabriolet?

Well you probably do not have a working horn, so go to an auto parts store and buy a horn relay for your car. Once you buy electrical items, it is yours>no return policy of electrical stuff at all parts stores.< It will most likely be either an aluminum sugar cube sized box or black plastic box same size.

Do 1992 Volkswagen Cabriolets last long?

most cars will last a very long time if the maintenance schedule is followed. However some cars are beter than others this vw is suspect. The best way to put your mind at rest is to look around, how many do you still see on the road or for sell. If there are not many are cruising around you have your answer.

Some Vehicles like the Cabriolet are seen near the coast line where the weather is best for driving with the top down. Don't get discouraged if there are few in your area.

VeeDub's have always been built well and last a long time. The engines can easily do 200,000 mile if they have been maintained well. Always open the bonnet and look if it has been cleaned as they could be trying to hide something. Touch the top of the engine and check that its cold so you can start it and see if blue/white smoke comes out the back. If its hot means they might be trying to hide something again. If the cabrio has a clipper kit always try and have a look around the joins were the kit fits the body as it can hold water and rust. Check the tops of the wings because if it doesnt have a underwing shield the water just gets up there and rust. Always check the lines of the car ie. by looking down the sides by standing at the front or back. Check to see if all the panels flow into one and other. Try by looking down the mording chich gives you a good line along the car. Check to see if the door, bonnet and boot shuts are all about finger thickness apart. Check the crumple zones at the front in the engine bay. Look for welding or if they look as thought they have been crushed and pulled. check the boot to see of any signes of been changed or pulled.

I hope this is helpfull in some way.

2002 VW Cabrio check engine won't go off even after you repaired it Any way I can get it to go off without bringing it somewhere?

my daughter took hers to the dealer, sweet talked a diagnostic refused repair and was given a very detailed list of parts to fix the problem. air filter, mass air flow sensor(this turned the check lite off) air mtere air filter, breathe valve( if this is not replaced it can cause the mass flow sensor to go out again) ,grommet, fuel pump relay and clean the intake. buy your own parts, was easy enough for an 18 year girl to fix minus the 700.00 + in labor chrges. she was also told that if everything is not repaired she will have to start over cause once the sensor is fouled youmst relace it and all the other parts so it will not foul again. hope this helps
