Royal Scots Regiment is the oldest Regiment of Foot in the British Army. Official Link: http://www.theroyalscots.co.uk/history.html At the start of World War II, the 1st Battalion embarked for France as part of the BEF. Forced into the retreat which was to end at Dunkirk, they never made the road to freedom. After a desperate defence across the Bethune-Merville road, and after suffering appalling losses, many were taken prisoner and few escaped home. The 2nd Battalion, based in Hong Kong, saw action when the Japanese attacked in December 1941. Here too, The Royal Scots fought like tigers but the result was inevitable. The 1st Battalion was reconstituted after Dunkirk and took part in the Arakan campaign in Burma in 1943 and the Battle of Kohima in 1944. A new 2nd Battalion (originally the 12th) was formed in May 1942 and served in Italy and Palestine whilst the 7th/9th and 8th fought in Europe after D-Day. During WorId War II, the posthumous award of the George Cross to Capt Douglas Ford was a unique distinction within the Regiment 1st Dragoon GUARDS, the "Royal Dragoons, were also informally referred to as the "Royals". This was part of the Household cavalry and is now merged with the Blues to form the Blues and Royals Cavalry Guards. The 1st Royal Dragoons (Royals) were originally raised in London in 1661 to form part of the Garrison of Tangiers and were formerly known as the Tangier Horse. On their return to England in 1683 they were re-designated by King Charles II as "Our Own Regiment of Dragoons" and granted precedence over all other cavalry regiments of the Line. The Royals also distinguished themselves at the Battle of Waterloo with the capture of the Colour of Napoleon's 105th Infantry Regiment, surmounted by an Eagle. The Royal Dragoons were deployed to the Western Desert in 1941 seeing distinguished service at El Alamein. Operation Overlord in 1944 saw the regiment in Normandy from where they went on to liberate Copenhagen in 1945. In early Mesopotamia, and Mesoamerica, cooking was invented when fire was invented , and that was around 100 B.C.,so before they ate cooked food they ate raw meat!
Whoever wrote this is waaaaaay wrong...100 B.C. is only 2100 years ago. Even the most conservative anthropologist would say cooking was invented 300,000 years ago. That is, unless they deny the existence of the world before Christ!
What was it like in holland during World War 2?
I was 12 y.old then and I am 78 now. Looking back it was exiting then, maybe not a nice description. Always something new happened. We were in the underground and helped to hide jews and other young men wanted by the enemy, we hid them successfully. It is easy to be in the underground, no uniforms, different names and numbers and fake addresses and using code etc etc. a real challenge indeed, hence the exitement. An enemy uniform is always a target. Well, the outcome, Germany surrendered. The freedom parties were the most memorable in my life. Freedom freedom, I'l never forget and always will appreciate it. While celebrating in church a US soldier 101st Airborn, walked in with a girl on his arm. In that same church some years laters I, belonging to the 101st walked in with a girl on my arm and married her there, thanks be to God for her and our freedom, she was my little girlfriend when I was 12 y. old. She's she greatest wife of over 50 yeasr of marriage. I lover sharing this. Peter Kamper

What did the women do at World War 2?
In general, a woman's role before WWII was to be a wife and mother, to stay at home and take care of the house and children, and to provide emotional support to her husband. Of course, there were exceptions, e.g. actresses, nurses, teachers, librarians and secretaries, etc., married or single, but they were considered to be exceptional.
According to interviews of women who were in the work force before World War II, a woman often lost her job upon marriage, as she was expected to then care for her house and family. It was difficult to have a career if you were a married woman unless you were a nurse, actress, teacher, or librarian. Secretaries, waitresses, telephone operators, laundresses and seamstresses usually became housewives automatically upon the exchange of marital vows. They went on their honeymoons and were replaced by single women.

What material do you use to build a shelter?
All over the world animals and people spend a significant amount of time and energy providing shelter for themselves. Animals use many kinds of shelters. Foxes burrow into the ground. Beavers build mud-and-stick lodges in shallow streams. Some bears hibernate through the winter in the hollows of rocky cliffs or in holes in the ground. Apes build themselves nests of twigs in trees for protection while they sleep.
Human shelters also take many forms. People may build huts of mud and branches roofed with leaves. They may live in houses of wood, brick, or stone, or in huge apartment buildings of steel, concrete, and glass. They may use movable shelters such as tents, houseboats, and trailers or even recreational vehicles (RVs).
Why couldn't women fight in the army?
For a couple of reasons. Firstly, these were different times and almost no nation on the globe thought that fighting at the front line was something women should be exposed to. Even if they had thought otherwise, the practical problems of millions of men and women living and working in close proximity in army units would have necessitated all kinds of extra provisions to assure privacy and prevent sexual harassment, which would have complicated the already big logistical problems enormously. Thirdly, every politician and general would have considered how female casualty figures would have played on the 8 o'clock news; the very reason that make generals even today very reluctant to have women fight in combat troops.
Only in the Russian army in WW II there have been a number of instances of women (officially in support jobs) taking part in engagements, but these were mostly isolated cases.

What will happen after add salt into milk?
the milk becomes salty?? lols
lol there is no chemical reaction
******That answer is actually not true. Salt affects the proteins in milk, causing them to denature, the ions sodium and chloride in salt cause the casein in milk (cloudy white protein) to clump together and curdle. To prevent this, add the salt to the milk, not the milk to the salt.:)
