However if you travel it 50 mph the journey will take you a little longer - one hour and 12 mins. but you will have used much less fuel because wind resistance will be less (air resistance is not linear, with a doubling of speed the wind resistance quadruples).
As the world needs to use less fuel those extra 12 mins are worth it so it is better driving at 50 mph.
